Nike Athletic Training Footwear Preview @ The Zoo Extensive Look

Over the weekend, we brought you a little sneak preview of the Nike Athletic Training Footwear Preview at The Zoo recording studio in Oakland. Admittedly, we couldn’t resist showing you a few of the highlights asap, but there are still plenty of additional visuals for you to sink your teeth into. It was explained by Nike designer Jeff Rasmussen, that the upcoming Nike Training line has been designed to follow six thoughtfully considered tenets: multi-directional flexibility and traction, forefoot security, lateral stability, support, fit and comfort and protection. With these six factors in place, the Training line has been specified for two different categories: Strong and Speed.

Falling into the Strong category, you have the Trainer SC 2010 and the Edge TR, built for the the rigorous demands of hardcore training. The Speed models like the Free TR and the updated Huarache Trainer model (now the Huarache TR) are super lightweight and responsive offerings for the more uptempo of training activities. Modeled after the original Nike cross-trainer, the newly revamped Trainer 1.2 straddles the line between Strong and Speed in true cross-training fashion, created to be the ultimate in cutting edge training footwear versatility.

Keep reading after the jump for a thorough look at all these models and more, including design sketches, dissected sneaker components, 3-D Z-Corp models and actual last molds, used to to develop the form of the sneakers. Also of interest, the Huarache TR and Trainer SC colorways are all inspired by the lives and careers of Larry Fitzgerald and Bo Jackson respectively, and note the winterized mid-cut version of the Trainer 1.2. Keep an eye out for all these Nike Training models due out this year, and stick with Sneaker News for all the latest news on release info.

Nike Air Max Modular 98 SI Black Blue Varsity Maize

Modular design and hybridization are among the biggest trends in sneakers right now.  We already caught a glimpse at the Air Max Modular 95 SI, so here’s our first up close and personal with the Nike Air Max Modular 98 SI.  Incorporating the same Air Classic BW elements as the 95 version, the Modular 98s swap out AM95 styling to incorporate the proto-Flywire spines and multiple Air bubbles found on 1998′s Air Max Plus.  Nike Sportswear did a great job on these, even including the old Tuned Air logo on a colorway that strongly resembles the OG Hyper Blue pair.  A release date on these has yet to solidify, but you can already grab a sample in US mens size 9 from solerevival777 on eBay.

Nike SB Eric Koston Pro Model Summer 2011 Concept Sample

When Pierre-André Sénizergues’ Sole Technology, Inc. spun éS off of the successful Etnies brand back in 1995, Eric Koston was among their early stars.  The éS Koston K1 dropped in 1997 and not only was its ‘E’/'M’ shaped upper an influence on other contemporary designs, it was so popular that Lakai remade them when they signed Koston in 2007.  Fast forward to the present and this is still one of the most skateable designs ever, inspiring this concept rendition of a potential upcoming Nike SB Eric Koston Pro Model.  This shoe looks to be essentially a hybrid of the K1 and Nike SB’s Zoom Tre A.D. model, and word is that it’ll replace the Tre come next summer.  Where that leaves the Nike SB Future Primitive (FP) that we showed you last month is anyone’s guess, so stick with Sneaker News for updates on future Nike SB developments.  via N-SB.org

WMNS Nike Blazer Mid Changing Faces

There’s a chance you’re looking at these and are thinking ‘aren’t these old?’ You’re probably thinking of very similar looking ones that released about two years ago.  This pair features more random geometric shapes rather than the faux-patched look of the aforementioned ski apparel-inspired Blazers.  But what really sets this apart other than the different graphic and colors is the material application.  Unlike a cliche ripstop nylon treatment, this new Blazer utilizes polyester on the medial panel, offset with some high quality looking tumbled leather for the vamp, Swoosh and lace panels.  The comfy nylon tongue with quilted textile collars are just an added bonus to these appealing sneakers.  A Changing Faces moniker came along with these, but no inclination as to why nickname as this is the first time seeing these. Already available overseas like Kinstor, we can only assume that they will come soon to the US.

Nike Sportswear Athletics West Omega Pack Fall 2010

Years before corporate sponsorship was the norm, Nike established Athletics West in 1977 as a destination for world-class athletes with Olympic aspirations.  Some thirty years later, we’ve seen the AW insignia on several retro runners of late, and look for that to continue this fall as part of the Nike Sportswear Omega Pack.  Here we see three new pairs of Nike Air Max 1s and one of the updated Air Maxim 1+.  The navy/red and black/gold AM1s were part of a preview we showed you last week alongside another with the Maxims, so the grey/teal pair pictured above is a brand new addition.  Click the jump below for shots of the whole set and stick with Sneaker News for updates on their release.  via Sneakers.BR

OSHMANs x New Balance 1700 25th Anniversary

To celebrate Oshman’s Sport Goods’ 25th anniversary, its Japanese division has teamed up with New Balance for a commemorative 1700.  With its intended goal for ‘sports meets style,’ the classic runner will get premium black leather with, wouldn’t you guess it, ripstop nylon.  White stitching is used on the ripstop to emphasize the traditional grid pattern of the material.  To help remember the big year for Oshman’s, a lacelock is made with roman numerals for 25.

This would seem like a doper pair if it wasn’t for ripstop already being the material of the season, as seen on a number of footwear we’ve covered recently.  It would also seem more significant if we could confirm what’s the anniversary for if Oshman’s has been around way more than 25 years; even if it was for the beginning of the Japan branches, it still wouldn’t seem relevant since the sporting goods chain merged with Sports Authority about 7 years ago.  Nonetheless, this 25th Anniversary 1700 will release next month.  Stay tuned for any further info.  via HB

Nike SB Dunk High Chromeball Pack

Sort of strange to have a skate shoes inspired by the Chrome Ball Incident, not to have a speck of chrome on them, innit?  A shoe inspired by the truly old school as paid tribute to on that blog, and specifically the truly old school Airwalk Enigma, the Nike SB Dunk High that was previously known as ‘Chrome Ball Incident/Enigma’ will now be joined by another pair of Highs that makes the naming and inspiration much clearer.  What we’ve got here is one shoe with the chromed-out metallic silver upper, and another in Urban Haze suede that gets its earthy look from the Enigma.  Considerably more understandable now, but the one thing we still don’t know is when will the Nike SB Dunk High Chromeball Pack hit retailers?  via N-SB.org

Nike Blazer Mid Varsity Red Sail Metallic Gold

Ladies and gentlemen, we’d like to welcome to you, all the way from the slums of Shaolin, it’s . . . this new Nike Blazer High?!  The natural instinct when first seeing these new Blazers was that they strongly resemble the quilted Supreme collaboration, but a quick peek at the heel of these red and gold joints gives an entirely new impression.  That’s where you’ll find a decidedly samurai-like script; one that’s far more Far East than the typical Blazer old school insignia.  Vertical ‘NIKE’ these are not, but a hot look for fall?  Absolutely.  Check out a bunch more shots after the jump and check back with Sneaker News for release dates.  via Kinstor

Nike Training Footwear Wear Test @ Nike Football Combine Oakland, CA

Following the trip to The Zoo, Sneaker News and other media in attendance at Nike’s Athletic Training 2010 Media Showcase were taken to Laney College to wear-test some Nike Training products at the Oakland Nike Football Combine. Upon arrival, media was taken to the locker room where we were outfitted with the latest in Nike Trainers, as well as a fully equipped set of Dri-Fit gear from head to toe. After suiting up, it was on to the stadium, where we were to participate in the combine alongside the area’s top high school football players. We were greeted at the field by one of the Nike coaches on hand who got us properly motivated to show our stuff (or lack thereof).

Following some much-needed stretching, the group was then introduced to our designated personal trainers for the day, Heisman Trophy winner/2-time National Championship quarterback/incoming NFL rookie, Tim Tebow, as well as arguably the league’s two best cornerbacks in the Jets’ Darrelle Revis and the hometown Raiders’ Nnamdi Asomugha. A quick pep talk and some helpful pointers had us as ready as we were ever going to be to see what we were made of in the combine. Using the Nike SPARQ Training system, our athleticism would be tested based on four activities designed to assess our readiness for the next level of football glory: the 40-Yard Dash, Agility Shuttle Run, Power Ball Toss and Vertical Jump.

After completing the four stations, your overall score is tabulated into a SPARQ Rating which effectively separates the men from the boys. Needless to say, most media members will probably not be receiving Division 1 scholarship offers for the 2011 season, but the experience was quite rewarding nonetheless. As we staggered our sore bodies out off the field, we got a chance to check out the mobile Nike iD and Pro Combat display trucks, which were pretty impressive, as you’ll see from the pics after the jump. Keep reading to see it all for yourself and thanks again to Nike for the great experience.

Maharam x WMNS Nike Dunk High Skinny Fall 2010

Nike teams up with NY textile company, Maharam, once again for a new capsule of Sportswear products.  This time focusing on a womens line, the key ingredient is the Dunk High Skinny, coming in four distinct colorways with signature materials as seen on previous Nike x Maharam joints.  Accopanying the footwear will be some formidable apparel, including a fresh nylon Destroyer Jacket, windbreaker, AW77 hoodie and tshirt.  Some of the best womens stuff to come out of Nike in a while.  These won’t hit stores for a while though, so stay tuned for further info.  via SneakerBR.
