World Basketball Festival 2010 Announcement

On a crisp June 9th morning in New York City, Nike, Jordan Brand, and Converse came together as one for the first time to preview the Fall 2010 Basketball focus, as well as to introduce a global celebration of the sport called the World Basketball Festival. This summer, the celebration will be hitting New York City, a city that has embraced the sport and emerged as one of the basketball meccas of the world. Nike President Charlie Denson was joined by USA Basketball chairman Jerry Colangelo, NBA All-Star Kevin Durant, rising international star Yi Jianlian, and guest-host Kenny “The Jet” Smith to announce the World Basketball Festival, with Colangelo, KD, and Yi giving their insights and views on the importance and excitement of basketball, a sport that has unified the world. The World Basketball Festival will include a regulation-sized hardwood basketball court in the middle of Times Square as well as other special events at notable venues such as the Rucker Park proving grounds and Madison Square Garden. The World Basketball Festival is set to take place on August 12th-15th, so stick with Sneaker News for the latest information regarding this momentous celebration.
