If there’s one signature design element that stands out above all other Vans iconography, it’s the checkerboard. A pattern that’s synonymous with ’80s (skate) culture, punk and ska music, the checkerboard pattern is back in a tonal look for the Vans Sk8-Hi Mono Check Pack. Each of the four pairs contrasts a glossy leather forefoot with tonal checks on the side panels. This pack is like your printer cartridges, so you can choose from red, yellow, blue or black when they hit stateside retailers. That should be soon, seeing as they just hit Japan’s ABC Mart.
