Nike SB Bird is the Word European Demo Tour

When the next Bright Tradeshow kicks off in early July, Nike SB will bring some of the world’s best skaters to Berlin.  It’s all part of Nike SB’s 2010 European Demo Tour, tagged with the theme ‘The Bird Is The Word’.  No word on whether Seth McFarlane will sing as Peter Griffin, but we do know that Paul Rodriguez, Eric Koston, Brian Anderson and a bunch of other top riders will be at Bright on July 8th as the last stop of a four-leg jaunt.  We’ve already seen how crazy the Nike SB world tours can be, so stick with Sneaker News for the latest.  via Dunkbar

Nike Zoom Kobe V Shannon Brown Throw It Down Dunk Contest PE | New Images

Shannon Brown may have fallen short in his quest to become the first Laker since Kobe Bryant to win the NBA Slam Dunk crown, but last night he proved that’s not cos of a lack of hangtime.  The young backup guard caught a Pau Gasol alley oop behind his head and cranked it down in devistating fashion.  Brown was wearing the Nike Zoom Kobe V ‘Big Stage’, but today we’re taking a second look at his ‘Throw it Down’ PE he was slated to wear at the aforementioned dunk contest.

These ZKVs offer accent colors from the three primary shades of light, and combined with an iridescent graphite/grey upper, this is one of the most unique colorways to come along in recent years.  We hope to see ‘Throw it Down’ editions of other shoes, but until they become as common as the Bill Walton exclamation, check out more images of the original, plus video of that amazing jam, after the jump.  via HK-Kicks

Asics Gel Lyte III Pendant by Gabriel Urist

If there’s a Michael Jordan of street-level pendant design, it’s Gabriel Urist.  Urist just did a piece that’s probably even cooler than his peppermint Altoids, crafting a 1 of 1 Asics Gel Lyte III for frequent Asics collaborator Ronnie Fieg.  Fieg received the necklace as a birthday gift from his photographer Sean Quincy, and the black metallic sneaker and chain are cause for celebration.  Click the jump below and let us know how you feel about sneaker-inspired jewelry.

Nike Air Max Wavy Upcoming Colorways

You might not have been around when they dropped, and even if you were, you probably didn’t notice how similar the Nike Air Penny III and Air (Garnett) IIIs really were.  When you see their side panels swept into one smooth ‘wave’ on the side of the new Nike Air Max Wavy, it’s all instantly clear.  The Air Max Wavy just dropped in an updated Orlando Magic palette plus one in black/metallic silver, and now we have images of three new pairs.  Two of them go with the immortal black/red/white trio, but the blocking leads to significantly different ends.  The other new pair is possibly the best Wavy yet, a black/eggplant pair that’s sure to have Foamposite fans excited at the possiblity of copping these for around $80!  via Eastbay

Nike Sportswear @ Sneakerness Zurich 2010

Europe’s Sneakerness event has evolved into a schedule similar to Sneaker Con here in the States, with a meetup every four months.  The latest was held in Zurich, Switzerland, where plenty of collections were on display to peruse and swap.  Nike Sportswear set up an installation, sort of a black box wherein previews of upcoming NSW sneakers were on display.  Everything from the pending Infrared Nike Air Max 90 to the rest of the retro runners.  Click the jump to see the full video.

Nike Hyperfuse Metallic Silver Black Sport Red

The Nike Hyperfuse is so innovative and well-designed, it seems like every single colorway is a 10.  With this latest pair pictured above, it’s not that we’ve never seen a silver, black and red shoe; in fact, those colors are among the most common on a basketball shoe.  But the ay the silver side panels give way to Fuse ventilation, and how it sweeps under the black ankle collar — put simply, we’ve never seen anything like this so every pair feels like a breath of fresh air.  Check out more images of the former Air Flight Ballistic and check out the sample available from cigar0330 on eBay.

Eric Kostons Greatest Footwear Moments @ Complex.com

What exactly IS a great footwear moment? Does wearing a pair of rare Jordans or SBs on a trip to the local store count? How about if you’re Amber Rose, when it doesn’t really matter what she’s got on her feet? For Eric Koston, a skater who has been in the game for quite some time, it’s been somewhat of an up and down roller coaster. He’s undoubtedly one of the biggest names in the skating world, and his joining of the Nike SB team raised a number of questions. Still, Koston’s got the talent to back up his name, and he’s got a number of footwear moments of his own – like wearing his signature eS shoes during a competition or showing off a Nike SB Dunk High to call his own. Check out some of Eric Koston’s greatest footwear moments after the jump and check out the entire feature over at Complex.

Nike Retro Basketball Releases Spring 2011

Not long ago Sneaker News reported the re-release of three classic 90′s basketball kicks – the Nike Air Max Uptempo 97Nike Air Max Penny 1, and the Nike Air Go LWP. While the Penny 1 has seen a number of release since the original, the Uptempo 97 and Air Go LWP are both definite rookies when it comes to retro rehashings. Starting off with the Pennys, a black/purple colorway will release alongside the Orlando Magic colorway. A Phoenix Suns colorway of the Penny 1 is also set to release but these show no hints of the Mandarin Orange that is part of the Suns colorway. Two more colorways of the Air Max Uptempo 97 will also release; both pairs will be constructed of a mix of leather and durabuck with the classic midsole that featured the visible tri-pressure Air and the thermoplastic polyurethane pods.

Last but not least is the Nike Air Go LWP, a shoe from 1994, right smack in the middle of Nike Basketball’s peak. You might’ve remembered Hardaway – both Penny and Tim – wearing these (and extra kudos if you can recall the Nike commercial with Penny on radio). The shoe wasn’t exclusive to the Hardaways, as Reggie Miller, Brian Grant, Mookie Blaylock, and a number of others wore these. The Air Go LWP was one of Nike’s most lightweight basketball shoes at the time and featured a new cushioning system at the forefoot that would later be called Zoom. Check out what’s to come in Spring 2011 for Nike Retro Basketball and let us know what you think of these new retros. via CK.

Supra Thunder Fall 2010 Collection

Supra continues to roll out its Fall 2010 collection even in advance of the summer solstice.  Here are the new Supra Thunder colorways, three new pairs that offer a wide range of ways to express yourself through footwear.  First up is the pinstriped pair pictured above that might look like a NY Yankees getup at first glance, but it’s actually black and white, not navy.  There’s another pair that uses that same white canvas, but keeps it clean, with just a touch of black on the heel and sole.  Last but not least, a yellow canvas pair has that ‘Bic’ look with select black accents.  Check for these today at your local Supra stockist.

Air Jordan XII Chris Paul New Orleans Away PE

Chris Paul has his own Jordan Brand signature three years running, but even if you had the same sweet deal, you’d want your share of Air Jordan PEs, right?!  Here’s an example of how amazing it can be, signed to JB, an Air Jordan XII PE with CP3′s name literally written all over it.  These joints are similar to the Flu Game XIIs with their use of pebbled leather on the mudguards and nubuck on the side panels, but we’ve never seen this Uni blue-on-black look with yellow accents on a Twelve before.  Is this possibly the best PE Chris Paul’s ever had? Take a look back at some other memorable CP3 PE’s after the jump and let us know how these rate. via CP’s Twitter

Air Jordan V.2 Grown July 2010 Colorways @ CNCPTSJordan Brand’s latest lifestyle sneaker takes its inspiration from classic boot designs.  The Jordan V.2 Grown replaces the Campus Chukka, but remains close to its heritage with that unmistakable lace placket.  What’s new on the V.2 Grown is the Chelsea boot-like elastic gusset that means you don’t actually have to tie and untie these joints to get them on.  Add that they come in super-versatile colorways like grey/black/white and black/white, and these are a can’t miss for the upcoming fall season.  Grab the grey pair, the black ones or both now from Boston’s Concepts and other select JB retailers.

NBA Feet: NBA Finals 2010 Game 6 Recap

There’s no place like home, is there? No other Laker showed up for Game 5 but Game 6 switched coasts, as the NBA Finals shifted back to the Staples Center after three grueling games in Boston. Playing with their backs against the wall, Kobe and crew had the game pretty much wrapped up by the second quarter, and by the end of the fourth quarter, the Boston Celtics scored a paltry 67 points, the second lowest scoring production by any team in the NBA Finals.

Kobe and Lamar Odom gladly switched back to their Home colorways of the Big Stage Zoom Kobe V and Nike Hyperdunk PE, while the Boston Celtics did the opposite by rocking some Away digs. Sheed brought out his all-green Nike Air Force 1 High, Nate Robinson went with the Phantom Air Max LeBron VII, Rajon Rondo whipped out a black/green Hyperfuse PE, and Ray Allen wore a similarly colored Air Jordan Icons. If only their offense was as coordinated as their shoes. Check out the Game 6 gallery after the jump and let’s hear your predictions: Who’s winning Game 7? via Yahoo!.
