This summer, Nike introduced Hyperfuse technology, a three-layer material that surpassed anything they have ever created in terms of lightweight advantages and breathability. Nike is accustomed to outdoing itself, considering the brand steadily sets industry standards and continually raises the bar against itself, so at times, they have no choice but to compete against themselves. Take the Air Max 1 for example; it was the first Nike shoe to feature visible Air and blazed a running trail that has led to a worldwide footwear phenomenon – and since its debut, Nike has strived to one-up itself in every way possible.
For the upcoming Nike Air Max 1 Hyperfuse, old breakthrough meets new, as the combination of timeless design and new-age science points to a product that does an exceptional job at representing the Nike motto as a whole. The upper is completely ‘Fused out’, with the Hyperfuse material making up 100% of the upper structure – even the tongue – while the midsole remains true to the original Air Max 1. The Air Max 1 Hyperfuse is expected to be a Fall 2011 release, with this obsidian/blue colorway being a nice possibility. First seen in our WDYWT section last week, we now bring you a detailed look at this intriguing new concept, so check them out and let us know what you think.

The final installment to Sneaker News’ ‘History of Air Jordan Commercials’ outlines a time period during which Michael Jordan’s career had evolved from legend-nearing-retirement to post-NBA idol. In a series of inspirational advertisements, Jordan challenges viewers with powerful statements such as “Let your game speak” and “Will you be the one?”. Jordan’s god-like play spoke volumes and these advertisements acted as another voice in the ear of the young and hopeful, as many of these mini-films featured up-and-coming NBA talents as well as children from the neighborhood. Check out the commercials for the Air Jordan XVII through the Air Jordan 2010 and let us know if you notice any distinguishable aspects of the Jordan Brand marketing campaign as Jordan himself grew older and entered a different phase of his career.

Team USA won a nail biter a on Monday when they played Brasil in their third game of the 2010 FIBA World Basketball Championships and before the team left for Turkey they took a trip to Athens, Greece to take a look at the sights the ancient city has to offer. While traveling Kevin Love and Andre Igoudala were seen rocking Player Exclusive colorways of the new Nike Air Max 24/7. A few days before Love and Iguodala were seen wearing these kicks, Team USA’s scoring leader and the 2009-10 NBA scoring champ, Kevin Durant, was also seen wearing these shoes when he made a brief appearance at The Mall, also in Greece.

It might not feel like it outside, but Fall is just around the corner. That means back to school, the start of the football season, and many people’s single favorite holiday: Halloween. Fans of the costume-centric holiday will be interested to know that this upcoming Nike SB Dunk Low Pro is equally well-dressed for the holiday, sporting a high contrast black/white/orange trio. The standout feature on these has gotta be the double-outlined Swoosh, which lends its outermost Blaze Orange stripe as piping to the rear quarter/heel panel. Check out more shots after the jump thanks to STREEThing, and look for these at select Nike SB accounts soon; they just started popping up in SE Asia and are already available on eBay.

Han Solo is among the most beloved heroes in cinema history and it’s about time he got his due in the ongoing adidas Originals x Star Wars collaboration. The adidas SL 72 isn’t exactly Three Stripes’ most popular model, but they’ll probably see a surge with this Solo sneaker. The Han Solo SL 72s are done in a slightly metallic silver material with lines running through it for an almost brushed aluminum finish, plus black and navy accents. These don’t come in the nifty action figure packaging that some of these releases have seen, but instead add to a traditional box a metallic silver shell that you can actually slide on over the kicks. Check out more shots after the jump and grab a pair today from Friw1000 on eBay.

Here’s a look at a third Air Force 1 Bespoke that was done during the four-day Bespoke event at Nike Harajuku. If you hadn’t noticed, croc-skin was an apparent favorite among the Japanese ‘Bespokers’, as it makes its way on a Bespoke design once again. However, the contrasting tones on the toe and swoosh offer a nice change as does the reptilian textile used on the toe-box and center panel. Baseball stitching also ties down the heel panel on the upper, and once again a solid midsole is used – in black- with yellow contrast stitching. Another shining light on this design is the elephant-print inner liner. Take a look at more detailed shoes at this Bespoke done @ Nike Harajuku and let us know what you think.

Born nearly 35 years ago, the Nike Blazer design already has ‘vintage’ written all over it. There’s not a hint of Nike Air in the Max, Zoom or Tuned varieties. No Shox, Impax, LunarLon or Free soles. Not even any Flywire, Torch or Hyperfuse! No, the Blazer predates most of the technology that made Nike famous, so when it releases in VNTG form, this usually just means pre-yellowed soles and laces. But on the latest Blazer High VNTG drops, the oft-maligned yellowing is eschewed in favor of two colorways of nappy suede that just kinda look, well, old. The Gold Dart and Blue Grey Blazers are deserving of their Quickstrike status, but that means they’ll be hard to get your hands on when they release next month. Luckily, you can save yoursel some stress and pre-order them now from Kix-Files.
