Michael Jordan at Rucker Park. A hardwood basketball court on the Radio City Music Hall stage. Jay-Z performing live. The Air Jordan x Atmos Pop-Up Store. The World Basketball Festival was jam-packed with high-profile events, and for the WBF’s first ever showing, the bar was set really high. While much focus was placed on the superstars, the ‘Make Something’ Experience was definitely not to be overlooked; a small space was transformed into an interactive Nike art gallery, with well-known urban artists offering their skills to children of local communities by teaching art workshops and creating custom Nike Basketball shoes. The walls were neatly splattered with sketches and drawings, with other pieces scattered around the space – like the Nike hybrid shoe you see above. It’s part Nike Air Max Hyperdunk, part Nike McFly (not yet released, of course), but this sort of wacky experiment was the norm for the ‘Make Something’ Event. Take a look at a detailed images after the jump and you’ll get a first-hand look of the entire experience. Thanks to Extra Butter for the images.
