Nike touted its Lunar cushioning technology as “rocket science”, and it will be tested on hiking trails across the glove, as the Lunar Elite now comes in a mid-top trail ready form. Sneaker News first previewed the Nike Lunar Elite Trail Mid during the Nike Sportswear Fall 2010 Preview and gave you a closer look of the Lunar Elite Trail Mid later in June; the hybrid shoe of sorts featured an upper design similar to the Lunar Elite, featuring a Flywire panel on the upper as well as breathable mesh panels. The two new Quickstrike releases feature a grey/pink colorway as well as a mix of blue/orange/grey, and both feature gorgeous speckled midsoles. These have started to hit select retailers such as LE Vault in Singapore, and they have just 12 pairs of each, so we perceive these to be a tough find. Continue reading for another look and let us know if you think Lunar Foam would be fit for rocky trails. via Streething.

When thinking of the skate culture of the early 90′s, one would reminisce about Airwalk, the skate-shoe brand that was a fashion staple among the younger generation of the time. The rejuvenated Airwalk Prototype Collection features insane design elements on the upper, using rubberized appliques on the heel and outrigger as well as use of interesting materials and graphics such as patent leather, safari-like print, and suede. Both the 600 and 540 model feature a high ankle cut but the 600 comes without the lace saver. For our younger readers, the Airwalk Prototype is actually a throwback to the brand’s late-80′s models that were truly ahead of its time. So what’s next? The Disaster, Velocity, or Enigma? The Prototype Series saw a super-limited re-release in 2009 but the entire Airwalk Prototype Collection is available now on Airwalk so continue reading for a look at all the colorways and models and let us know what you think.

Sneaker News’ coverage of the Air Jordan x Atmos Pop-Up Store and the House of Hoops featured events should’ve been more than enough to warm you up for the World Basketball Festival, a celebration of the game of basketball on a worldwide scale but held in New York City, the mecca of basketball. The historic Radio City Music Hall opened its door to the World Basketball Festival and the awe-inspiring events, and the day kicked off with a basketball clinic held for children of local community groups, in which young basketball fans got a chance to work out with NBA players like Kevin Durant, Rajon Rondo, and Yi Jian Lian. Later in the evening, Coack K, Jerry Colangelo, and other notable figures spoke about the World Basketball Festival as well as the international platform set by the FIBA World Championship.
Following the interview session was a inter-squad scrimmage on a regulation hardwood floor, with the Radio City Music Hall serving as the foundation. To cap off the night, Jay-Z performed a half-hour set with some help from Swizz Beats and other pals, but as you know, HOV already made some noise with the Jay-Z x Nike Air Force 1 ‘All Black Everything’ Pack that was first reported on Sneaker News two nights ago. Continue reading for a look into the event as well as video of Jay-Z’s entire performance and stay tuned to Sneaker News for more in-depth coverage of the World Basketball Festival.

In conjunction with the inaugural World Basketball Festival celebration, Atmos in Harlem, NYC was transformed into a chamber of Jordan artifacts and one-of-a-kind displays, with the ‘For the Love of the Game‘ theme as the centerpiece. Sneaker News gave you a first look at the Air Jordan Legacy featuring a sublime lasered graphic etched onto the entire Air Jordan line, but that wasn’t the only jaw-dropping installment; a University Blue and White Michael Jordan Motorsports motorcycle was the center of attention – literally – as it was displayed proudly on the spine of the Atmos venue. In addition to the special shoes, motorcycles, limited-edition figurines, and Jordan Brand mosaics were a number of celebrity guests, such as hip-hop artists Bun B and Fabolous as well as Jordan Brand notables Gentry Humphrey and Mark Smith. Continue reading for an in-depth gallery of the Air Jordan x Atmos Pop-Up Store Opening Party and let us know if this is the most impressive Jordan Brand display to date.

At the epicenter of the mammoth sneaker presentation was the born-in-’82 Nike Air Force 1, and just yesterday Sneaker News gave you a sneak peak at the a once-in-a-lifetime collaboration with a certain individual born in ’69 – the one-and-only Jay-Z.

Charles Barkley went on record this morning as saying “the one hour Decision was a punk move,” in response to LeBron James’ recent ‘mental notes’ tweet. That’s just the kind of unapologetic honesty that earned Sir Charles a place in the hearts of basketball fans around the world. Barkley was infamous for his “I’m not a role model” commercial, one that elevated his status and future sales of shoes like this one. The Nike Air Max2 CB ’94 is back in its OG black, white and purple colorway, and the design is every bit as aggressive as Chuck’s ascerbic wit. Check out more shots after the jump and grab yours today from StepToRun on eBay.

While the Air Jordan Legacy ‘For the Love of the Game’ display accentuated the university blue and white colorway, it was in 1992 when Michael Jordan’s love of basketball reached an international level, when he co-led the 1992 Dream Team to a dominating victory. Release tomorrow, August 13th, is the Air Jordan VII (7) Olympic colorway; Jordan Brand has displayed some leniency with its Saturday-only release dates, with both the Air Jordan IX (9) ‘For the Love of the Game’ and Citrus Retro falling mid-week and this highly anticipated Quickstrike releasing on a Friday.
It’s not all for nothing though, as the August 13th release of the Olympic VII was set to coincide with the 1992 Dream Team’s induction into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, when Jordan, Barkley, Magic, Bird, and others will forever be enshrined as the greatest group of talent in the history of the sport. The Air Jordan VII (7) Olympic will be available at select Jordan Brand retailers , Niketown locations, and for the NYC-based sneakerheads, Footaction on 34th St. will have a midnight release. Continue reading for an interesting comparison of the Olympic VII from ’92, ’04, and ’10, and be sure to cop a pair tomorrow. via regularolty.

In attendance at the Air Jordan x Atmos Opening was Jordan Brand was Jordan Brand ‘OG’ Gentry Humphrey. He’s been working with Michael Jordan for nearly two decades, and over the last few years, he’s been sporting some 1-of-1 unreleased colorways as well as upcoming releases well in advance. It was no different yesterday, when Humphrey wore the logo-less Air Jordan VII Look-See sample that Sneaker News gave you an exclusive look at. Also in attendance was Houston’s Bun B, wearing a pair of the Air Jordan XI Space Jam. Continue reading for another look at Humphrey’s kicks as well as Bun B’s Jams after the jump.

As we’ve seen so far this summer, the Nike Hyperdunk 2010 lacks the traditional lines that define a basketball shoe’s colorblocking possibilities, and yet, the HD2K10 has a seemingly innumerable amount of tricks up its sleeve. Take for example this Dirk Nowitzki Germany PE. It’s done in mostly white with three accent colors, just like the various USAB editions. But this German-colored pair might be the cleanest of them all with its careful placement of red and yellow on the forefoot and ankle areas only. They also feature a Dirk-specific insignia with his international number 14 on the tongue, and are available from select Nike Basketball retailers including RMKstore on eBay.
