Back in January of 2009, the Air Jordan 1 Max Orange was released; the shoe itself was highly anticipated and reviewed a number of times, so why was the release such shocker? That’s because the original colorway of the Jordan 1 release was set to be Infrared, but a last-minute switcheroo meant a Max Orange colorway was going to release. Going out the door with Infrared was the patent leather toe, replaced by a matte finish that is expected with synthetic leather. The Max Orange colorway was a success regardless but some were outraged at the change, but now’s your chance to stick it to the man and own a pair of the Air Jordan 1 Retro in the Infrared colorway – patent leather toebox included. Sure, the price is a bit steep, but still worth a look, so check out the gallery of images of this could’ve-been Jordan shoe and take a peek at the auction from toebox_champ on eBay.

Back in ’97-’98, the Jordan Brand marketing team portrayed Michael Jordan as a man living a double-life – a dominating player on the basketball court and a high-powered C.E.O. during his off time. Since Jordan’s final retirement, he’s held a number of positions that despite not having the Chief Executive Officer title, was still a domineering presence. That Jordan C.E.O. commercial was the primary advertisement for the Air Jordan XIII, which just so happened to be the last shoe Jordan wore during the regular season as a Chicago Bull. This December, 2010, we’ll get a chance to own the White/Black-True Red original colorway, although at this point the actual release date of the shoe is still subject to change. Take another detailed look at the True Red Air Jordan XIII Retro and let us know if these are a must-have in your collection. via in52.

Kobe Bryant will begin his quest for a second three-peat this October when they open the 2010-11 season against the Houston Rockets in late October. During the beginning of the season, you can expect Kobe Bryant to wear the Nike Zoom Kobe V ‘Ink’ colorway during games; featuring a deep purple color on the upper with the matte finish on the toe and lace placket and the cracked-marble texture on additional panels, the Ink Kobe V matches perfectly the Los Angeles uniforms to a tee. You can rock this same colorway come November when this drops at Nike Basketball retailers like Foot Locker, so check out the gallery after the jump and let us know what you think of the colorway.

The Nike Footscape Free Motion finally hit retail early this year in great colorways but this upcoming pair might be the most ‘outdoorsy’ yet. Featuring blue/red trail-inspired laces, a speckled ‘Oreo’ midsole, and an upper colorway mix of black, grey, blue, and red, this new Footscape Free Motion is part of the Nike ‘Climbers Pack’, which also includes a recently previewed colorway of the Nike Lunar Elite Trail Mid QS and a similar colorway of the Nike Air Moc. The colorway itself is very ‘ACG-esque’ so this Footscape Free Motion is probably intended for trail use, and why not? Flywire upper, Free-soled movement, super lightweight – three key components to a worthy trail runner. The Footscape Free Motion Climbers Pack is set to drop soon at Nike Stadium in Paris so you can expect these to hit select Nike Sportswear retailers as well. A detailed gallery awaits you after the jump. via lamjc.

Out of all the Nike Dunk High colorways we’ve seen in the past two decades, the varsity royal/white pairing is one that will always be remembered. It was part of the original Be True To Your School Pack and also appeared in suede form in the Nike SB rendition of that classic capsule, so varsity royal and white has the seniority and the clout to firmly be established as one of the big-boys of Dunk High colorways. Here’s another Dunk High release featuring the same color-blocking as the University of Kentucky color-combo but with slight alterations; the swoosh as well as the bottom sole has been whited out but there’s enough blue in there to keep it close to the family. Take a look at the extra images of the Kentucky Dunk High’s “cousin” after the jump and pick up a pair from Titolo.

Would you ball in Foamposite Air Force 1s? Forces were originally basketball shoes and the Foamposite material is best known for its use on the Air Foamposite One. It would be interesting to see if any NBA ballplayer toughed it out for 30-plus minutes during a game – surely that would make for a great Sneaker News NBA Feet segment – but with ‘Sheed outta the game, that’s probably unlikely. Here’s a further look into the upcoming Nike Air Force 1 Foamposite in the all-black colorway; featuring a matte black Foamposite upper finish and an MX sole, these all-black-everything joints should definitely be a popular hit – the Metallic Silver Foam Forces went quick as well. Continue reading for a gallery of images and let us know if you’d ever consider wearing these for ball. via in52.

Black and white upper, patent leather mudguard, extended lace straps. What is “Air Jordan XI“? No, it’s the Air Jordan Take Flight, the first ever Jordan Brand shoe with a full-length visible 360 Air Unit. Touting a lightweight construction and the basketball-specific 360 Air, the Air Jordan Take Flight is the next step in the Jordan Brand progression – never has so much Air been using in one Jordan shoe. The Air Unit features an exterior caging with JORDAN printed alongside the walls, while the upper features patent leather and a stitched leather panel. The Air Unit itself resembles the Pebax shell seen in the Zoom LeBron II but obviously with a completely different cushioning system. The Air Jordan Take Flight is set to release in the coming months as part of the Holiday 2010 collection so take a look at the detailed images after the jump and let us know what you think of the design. via Dunk.

LeBron James’ acquaintanceship with Jay-Z was once thought to be the deciding factor of LeBron James’ free-agency decision but it turns out it really had no bearing at all. In the end, HOV and Bron remain friends, and here’s an example of what two celebrity pals can result in; here’s a look at the Nike Air Max LeBron VII (7) ‘All-Black Everything’ that features a tonal-black construction on the entire shoe with a special Jay-Z inspired insole featuring a collection of special dates and terms specific to the Brooklyn-born rapper. This special Friends-and-Family pair of kicks surfaced months ago and LeBron even wore them in a game against the Celtics, but not much noise has been made since then, but take a look at the insole as well as a full shot of the shoe after the jump and let us know what you think.

Jordan Brand went spelunking far enough to bring back two old-school Jordan models in the Air Jordan AJKO and the Jordan Sky High. The latter may not have been as recognizable to today’s Jordan heads but that’s the whole point of a retro, right? Here’s a look at two new colorways of the Air Jordan Sky High constructed of leather uppers; the first two releases were canvas-uppered so these perforated leather options adds a contrast in material. Featuring tonal uppers with opposite-colored trims (black on white, white on black), both perf-leather Sky Highs are expected to release during the Holiday 2010 season so take a look at both new colorways after the jump and stick with Sneaker News for release info. via washinsp.

Over the last few years we’ve seen several basketball-to-lifestyle crossover kicks, usually in the form of rehashed classics modified with urban colorways and vulcanized midsoles. Last year’s Nike RT1 fit that mold, a shoe that featured a late-80′s Nike Basketball styled upper design, and the all-new Nike Air PR1 could be categorized in the same phylum. Here’s a look at the Air PR1 in Bog Green, Pecan, and Neutral Grey, slated for a release during the Spring 2011 season; it features an upper design take from the Nike Air Pressure with an Air Jordan III midsole. This particular model includes a high-cut ankle, protruding tongue, and a rubberized ankle strap that can be pivoted to the rear as a strapless option. This Bog Green, Pecan, and Neutral Grey colorway of the Air PR1 should be expected early next year, as will a number of other colorways including Dunkman-esque and white/gold combinations. Take a look at the detailed images after the jump and let us know what you think of the design. via ModernNotoriety.
