What a week it was, starting with two great events last Saturday. Sneaker Con NYC went down for the third time this year, while LeBron James was the guest of honor at the launch of the LeBron 8 ‘Pre-Heat’. Of course that wasn’t the only LeBron news, as Sneaker News showed you the another LeBron James signature shoe called the LeBron 8 V2. In keeping with the trend of upcoming kicks, we brought you a detailed look at the Metallic Pewter Foamposite One, the Kobe VI Concord, some new colorways of the CMFT Max Air 12, and a great collection of Melo M7 releases. Some kicks we were already familiar with re-emerged with some changes, like the Air Jordan XIII Altitude and the all-new mesh upper, and the Zoom Kobe V in a special commemorative design.
A set of brand new Trainers just hit – three new Trainer SC 2010s and a nice collection if Trainer 1.2 Mids in special colorways inspired by some of Nike’s greatest athletes called the ‘All For One’ Pack. We also got a look at another set of kicks made for athletes, like a rare John Wall Nike PE and some exclusive pairs made just for Michael Jordan. The celebrities came out once again as New York-based pro-athletes showed up at the Foot Locker ‘On Our Feet’ Charity Event and the ATF Crew dropped by Sneaker Con NYC, and Sneaker News got a chance to interview one of the most well-known personalities of the 90′s. Finally, Sneaker News received a special package from Jordan Brand, in which we were designated as ‘Informants’ for Agent D3′s mission. There’s a lot more to see so check out all of this week’s happenings by reading through our Sneaker News Weekly Rewind!

To celebrate the release of the Nike Air 1/2 Cent ‘Eggplant’ at SoleFly, who better than Anfernee ‘Penny’ Hardaway to launch the newest colorway of his mega-hybrid shoe? Penny Hardaway, who played his final season as an NBA professional with the Miami Heat, was on hand to meet and greet his fans as well as offer his mighty hand for a number of autographs. Those who just purchased a pair of the Eggplant Half Cents got the opportunity to get the shoes autographed, but other big-time fans of the most marketable NBA player of the 90′s not named Michael Jordan brought in some other Penny gear, like the Royal and Copper Foamposite Ones as well as some Orlando Magic fan gear and Penny Hardaway basketball trading cards. What was Penny wearing? The Air 1/2 Cent in the Metallic Silver colorway. Continue reading for a nice recap of Penny’s appearance at Miami’s SoleFly and let us know what your favorite all-time Penny shoe!

It’s finally here. Eight seasons in and LeBron James has racked up a line of individual achievements rivaled by very few. Two MVP trophies, a Rookie-of-the-Year, Two All-Star Game MVPs, a scoring title, but still missing on his shelf is the Naismith – the primary reason why he left Cleveland in the dust and bolted to Miami to play alongside Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. Will LeBron James live up to Michael Jordan and even Kobe Bryant? By the Air Jordan VIII, Michael just completed his first three-peat, and by Kobe’s eight overall signature shoe (the Nike Zoom Kobe III) he already completed a three-peat with Shaq and was on the verge of winning two straight. LeBron’s got some shoes to fill and he feels that the LeBron 8 and Miami is the place to do it, so don’t miss out as the Nike LeBron 8 will officially make a wide release tomorrow in the Black/White-Sport Red-Metallic Gold colorway at Nike Basketball retailers like Rock Paper Scissors, or you can pick up a pair on eBay.

Officially arriving tomorrow at Jordan Brand retailers is the Air Jordan II Retro in Black/White. Jordan Brand released a similar colorway of the AJ2 back in 2004 (the Black/Chrome colorway) so this particular release should ring a few bells and boost some sales on the nostalgia factor. Definitely a tame colorway compared to next weekend’s Air Jordan II Candy Pack release, the Black/White colorway is reserved for those who like to keep their Jays simple and clean. While the Black/White Air Jordan II has begun to pop up early at a few shops, these will officially hit tomorrow, but you can you always grab a pair from StepToRun on eBay.

Here’s another look at an upcoming colorway of the Air Jordan XII x Air Max hybrid in Medium Grey, Hot Red, and Black. The Jordan CMFT Max Air 12 features a nubuck ‘bumper’ with a mesh upper with stitching patterns that mimic the Air Jordan XII, with a midsole construction being a slight thicker version of the Air Max 97. Hot Red takes part in the branding as well as the Air Unit, with Black on the inner lining and tongue. Sneaker News also showed you a Leather version of the CMFT Max Air 12 in Black, White, and University Blue, but the mesh construction should be a lighter, more breathable package. This colorway dropped today as a Quickstrike release in South Korea and is set to release in early November worldwide, so take another look at this upcoming release after the jump and stick with Sneaker News for more updates on the Air Jordan x Air Max hybrids. via IST.

Straight out of an International Espionage flick, the crew at Sneaker News received a mysterious package from Jordan Brand headquarters, a package filled with top-secret information intended for only a select few. A metallic silver suitcase contained a classified spy kit consisting of a neatly packaged Air Jordan x Apple iPad – an important device containing sensitive information such as mission outlines, surveillance videos, and information on potential targets. Sneaker News’ assignment: assist Agent D3 in his top-secret mission. More information regarding the entire Dominate Another Day mission will be revealed on October 26th, but in the meantime, here’s a sneak peek at the special Air Jordan ‘Dominate Another Day’ package that was sent to Sneaker News, and stay tuned for updates on the Air Jordan ‘Dominate Another Day’ mission. Sneaker News first showed you this low-cut 360-Air basketball shoe at the end of July during our feature of some new kicks at the King’s Academy Basketball Camp in San Diego. While our eyes were on LeBron’s feet and the LeBron 8 V2 in All-Black, the low top Air Max 360 BB Low was spotted – but at the time some made the quick assumption that it was the LeBron 8 Low. The Fuse and Flywire uppered basketball shoe is in fact a stand-alone shoe without any affiliation to LeBron, and here we get a look at some of the Spring 2011 Colorways. Sneaker News already showed you some catalog shots of the Air Max 360 BB Low but here’s a look at actual sample pairs in four colorways; a teal/white, black/purple, orange/white, and white/neon green colorway can be expected next year with a possibility of some Player Exclusives. Take a look at all four colorways after the jump and stick with Sneaker News for more upcoming Nike Basketball releases. via modern-notoriety.

Borrowing its name from a now-defunct British trip-hop act, the Sneaker Pimps world tour has bested the band by putting on over 200 shows in 60 cities across the globe since its inception in 2003. Boasting lineups that have included over 500 of the world’s hottest street-level artists and countless performers, Sneaker Pimps is back for another go-round in a city that’s building toward a fever pitch as its most anticipated NBA season yet is about to get underway: Miami, Florida. Expect over 1500 pairs of rare, limited edition, vintage, celebrity signed and artist-collaborated kicks, not to mention the sneaker-inspired artwork guaranteed to be on display. The MIA stop is co-headlined by Wu-Tang chef, Raekwon, and local product Rick Ross, and will feature an advanced demo of the upcoming NBA Jam redux. Quite a lineup, indeed, and be sure to check back with Sneaker News for a recap early next week.

Jordan Brand recently released the Air Jordan VII ‘Olympic’ as a tribute to Michael Jordan’s love of the game and his outstanding play during the 1992 Olympics. But Jordan didn’t participate in 1996, but his teammate Scottie Pippen sure did, nabbing his second Gold Medal as an American Olympian. This year, Nike will also pay some respect to Scottie Pippen, the ultimate wingman and teammate, by releasing the Nike Air More Uptempo in the Olympic colorway. Featuring a white and obsidian upper with red accents and a metallic gold trim on the Air Unit and ’8′ on the heel, the Air More Uptempo ‘Olympic’ will release for the first time since 1996 and be available at House of Hoops locations. The Air More Uptempo is one of the most celebrated and era-defining sneakers in Nike’s history, so the return of this Olympic-inspired shoe should be considered one of the best of the year. Continue reading for a nice gallery of images and hit up House of Hoops to snag yours. via SoleCollector.
