Bodega x Vans Real Tree Chukka LX

World famous outdoorsman Bill Jordan has crossed over so hard, De La Soul must be spinning in their collective graves.  Most sneakerheads live or at least are inspired by an urban lifestyle, so until recently, hunting would be out of the picture for most.  But with Jordan’s Realtree camouflage giving a photorealistic forest look to a whole capsule for Nike SB this month, this is now the third pair of camo kicks in less than thirty days!  And as was the case with the Nike SB Zoom Classic High, Realtree camo is hidden inside the Bodega x Vans ‘Real Tree’ Chukka LX.

The outside is a rich, lightly oiled olive green suede that looks amazing with a darker green sole, brown piping and corded hiking laces.  If you click the link above to see our initial preview of these joints from back in August, you’ll be amazed how much better these luck just because of the new laces.  And Boston’s best are releasing this one in style like they always do, including a Bodega-branded utility knife, Zippo and can cozy with each pair.  There are far fewer of these than deer this season with only 150 sets dropping at 11am on Saturday, October 23rd, so aim for Cambridge and click the jump below for more shots.

Nike SB Zoom FP Detailed Images

Nike SB has added new models consistently, and even taken a few away over the years.  Older releases like the Delta Force and Zoom FC have been replaced by new signatures like the Omar Salazar and Paul Rodriguez’ ever expanding collection.  Eric Koston has a pro model on the way too, but he’s sure to appreciate the tech happy design behind the Nike SB Zoom FP.  Perhaps the sleekest Nike SB release yet, these joints are crafted of what looks to be an abrasion-resistant synthetic that serves as a shroud to the inner bootie.  Much like the Air Max 90 Current Huarache, it’s a slip on so the laces here are somewhat ornamental, though they do allow you to lock yourself into the perfect spot, with the heel support on the exterior for superior comfort.  Check out more shots of the initial charcoal, red and white colorway and stick with Sneaker News for more details of when to expect these at retail for $104 USD.  via HB

Gourmet 27 Boot Winter 2010 Preview

Every sneaker company has boots on deck for winter these days.  From Nike and Air Jordan’s huge and ever-growing selection to the recent introductions by Vans, Supra and others, more and more kicks with boot ruggedness and sneaker comfort are hitting the market.  And while Gourmet has been known for following in Jordan Brand’s footsteps, their new 27 Boot is nothing like their early ‘Ape Jordan’ designs.  The Gourmet 27 Boot bears a passing resemblance to the Nike ACG Air Magma with a single piece of uninterrupted suede running the entire lateral side, but a woven textile on the medial is unique in concept and application.  The first colorway is a rich tan shade that makes us wish for more, so stick with Sneaker News for updates on these and all Gourmet release dates.

Reebok Insta Pump Fury Black Pump Dot

All eyes are on the Reebok Pump Fury Superlite for the fall/winter 2010 seasons, but let’s not forget about the shoe who blazed its path.  RBK has been releasing Insta Pump Fury colorways since the middle ’90s, and this one is a case study in how they’ve managed to maintain respect in the sneakerhead community abroad, even as the Vector brand’s market share has declined here in the US.  Mostly black with select white and royal blue accents, these Insta Pump Furys escape your typical ‘panda’ look with a quirky polka dot toe and tongue underlay finishing off a design that’ll likely be better received in Tokyo than Times Square.  Fitting, then, that these are mita sneakers exclusives, but you can always click the jump below to see more shots.

Nike WMNS Vandal High White Utility Orange Metallic Gold

Like any skilled backpacker, the Nike Vandal High has been missing most of the times we’ve looked in 2010.  There have been a few drops here and there, but nothing to match the days when Blazers, Dunks and Vandals were at the core of the Nike Sport Culture strategy.  So here’s a blast from the past with a new WMNS Vandal High, a pair that maximizes the ’70s basketball aesthetic with a super clean three-toned colorway.  An all-white base finds select orange hits on the strap and sole, with the heel tab adding just a touch of gold.  Check out more shots by clicking the jump below and look for these at select Nike Sportswear retailers like Dr. Jays.

Nike ACG Lunar MacLeay TZ Bright Cactus Dark Obsidian | Available on eBay

The Nike ACG Lunar MacLeay was recently introduced in this Cactus Green colorway as a Tier Zero release – meaning only select stores will ever have them available. Then again, the MacLeay isn’t an everyman’s shoe, but for Nike ACG heads and Lunar freaks who have been waiting for a release like this for years. The tonal upper adds a giant spark of color, which will surely be noticed by the other hikers or street pedestrians as you whiz by ‘em. The comfort’s there and so is the styling, so take another detailed look at the Bright Cactus ACG Lunar MacLeay and pick up a pair from rmkstore on eBay.

Air Jordan XIII (13) White Desert Clay Team Red | Sample Available on eBay

Long before the Air Jordan XIII Premio was this unreleased sample of the Air Jordan XIII in a similar color-combination of White, Desert Clay, and Team Red. You might assume that these are just a sample pair of the AJ13 from the Bin 23 Collection, but this pair had an initial production date of Spring 2005, long before the ball got rolling on the Premio collection. Although unreleased then, that idea stayed fresh in the Jordan Brand Camp, as the colorway was in fact resurrected for the Premio release earlier this year; however, there’s more to this sample that meets they eye.

This particular pair is unique in a number of ways; for one, they’re two completely different colorways. Both are designated as ‘Team Red’, but one pair is undoubtedly a lighter shade on the upper 3M panel. Other differences are evident in the bottom soles, where the brown trim on the side is darker than the other, and on the branding on the upper, where the Jordan tab on the base of the lace placket and the Jumpman on the tongue are different shades as well. However, both ‘mismates’ of sorts feature a pearloid finish on the upper white leather, and being that this colorway never released, the differences could just be the result of various sampling and colorway experiments – as seen on the scribbled notes around the shoe. This particular pair is surely one of the most interesting pairs every produced (if, in fact, these were meant to be paired together), so take a look at the detailed images after the jump and check out the auction from davemilo10 on eBay.

Classics Revisited: Nike Air Trainer SC II

The Nike Trainer endeavor was born in 1987 with the introduction of the Air Trainer, a ground-breaking shoe worn by Jon McEnroe during the U.S. Open of that year. Sprouting from McEnroe’s trainer was the Cross Training line – part of which was the Air Trainer SC Line that consisted of four models. The nomenclature for the entire Trainer catalog is absolutely convoluted due to Nike’s relentless ‘branching out’ of the original Trainer as well as a decrease in popularity of the Trainer shoe (which led to even more ‘dumbing down’ of names) but one shoe that has stood firm in its original title is the Nike Air Trainer SC II. Untouched by a re-issue in two decades, the Air Trainer SC II is considered to be one of the greatest Nike releases of all time and is certainly a favorite among those with a sneaker craze rooted from the Nike Air Trainer. Nike Air Force 180 David Robinson Signature | Available on eBay

As the arena of basketball sneakers pushed forward and turned the corner into the 90′s, the competition was absolutely fierce. Today, Nike owns more than 90% of the basketball market share in America, but that story was much different two decades ago. There was no unrivaled dominance or alpha-dog of any kind, but a level playing ground in which brands of all kinds had their hands in the pot. Reebok Pump was one of the big players of that time, with numerous super-star endorsements, media publicity, and a large consumer following helping its cause. With a lot of hype and excitement surrounding Reebok’s new technology, Nike responded to the introduction of the first Reebok Pump shoe in 1989 was the Nike Air Pressure, a shoe that looked too futuristic, weighed too much, and cost too much for its own good. The Air Pressure – at the risk of redundancy – was just too much.

Some fine-tuning and slimming down was obviously necessary and in 1991, Nike unveiled the Nike Air Force 180, which featured the 180-Air unit and a high ankle with a similar Air-integrated ankle apparatus – but the shoe was considerably lighter and much more ‘wearable’. Older sneaker heads may be able to recall The Admiral David Robinson wear the Air Force 180 and also appear in a commercial for the shoe. The Air Force 180 you might recognize today – the model attributed to Charles Barkley – is actually the Air Force 180 Low, but with the Air-pump technology becoming a thing of Nike’s past, the Low version became the flagship and discarded any height-designation. Regardless of how quickly it might have been forgotten at the time, the Air Force 180 is remembered today as one of Nike’s greatest designs of all time. Coming across a pair of the Air Force 180 – let alone a deadstock pair – is a rare occurrence so take a look at the detailed gallery after the jump and check out the auction of this DS pair from the.kicksologist on eBay.

Queen x Vans Sk8 Hi Black Denim

1970s stadium rock and sneakerhead culture don’t overlap in all that many ways, but like any group of folks with an interest, both classic rock fans and kick fiends alike respect greatness.  With global album sales somewhere around 300 million, Queen will forever remain one of the top rock groups of all time.  That’s due in part to the fact that the internet has caused record sales to bite the dust, so bands are turning to new ways to monetize their brands.  The Queen x Vans Sk8-Hi offers a look into bridging this generational gap, with a stylish black denim hiding the Queen discography as pictured on it’s sockliner.  See a little (more of this) silhouette by clicking the jump below and grab a pair from select Off the Wall retailers like CitySole.
