When you think ‘Miami’, you’re either picturing silverhaired retirees, beautiful young people and world-class nightlife, or some mix of the two. Orlando’s theme parks make it a more natural association with kids, but that’ll all change, at least for a day, on Wednesday, December 1st. That’s when Foot Locker and Kids FL locations around the country will get a US boys size 3.5-7 run of Nike LeBron VIII ‘South Beach’ GS in store. It’s the mens size you see in the photos in this post, but the little ones will finally have their chance to join you in ‘Pre-Heating’ with a pair of art deco-rated LeBron Eights when the calendar flips!

Michael Jordan debuted the Air Jordan XIV in the 1998 NBA Finals, with a game 6 performance that saw the Black Cat absolutely dominate the ball in the last 90 seconds punctuated by a 17 foot jumper from just above the elbow that will forever be known as ‘The Last Shot’. It was almost like MJ saw the whole thing coming and broke out a brand new sneaker that would soon bear the same moniker, but we shouldn’t forget about the kicks he was wearing at home during the entire playoff run up to that point. The Air Jordan 13 ‘Playoffs’ was also Mike’s 1998 All Star Game sneaker choice, with that year’s ASG going for an MLB-style wear-your-team’s-uni-look. Some have even called them the ‘All Star’ AJ13s, but no matter the nickname, this all-black mix of leather and suede looks amazing some 12 years later. Earlier today Sneaker News showed you Gilbert Arenas’ kicks for the night – the Jordan CMFT Max Air 12. What other sneakers were spotted on the NBA floor? Arenas’ teammate John Wall wore his Home colorway of the Zig Slash and Andray Blatche showed off his Kobe V again. The streaking New York Knicks battled the Charlotte Bobcats in style, with STAT wearing his Home PE of the Huarache TR Mid, Ronny Turiaf wearing a Knicks-inspired Hyperdunk 2010, Gerald Wallace wearing a black/orange Air Jordan XII PE, and Stephen Jackson wearing the Air Jordan 2010 Team. Rip Hamilton wore the Black/White Air Jordan II, Evan Turner brought some fresh meat with his Li-Ning, and teammate Andre Iguodala kept the PE cycle going with some Hyperdunk 2010s. There’s more to see so check out all the kicks from last night’s game after the jump. via ESPN.

The Oklahoma City Thunder have been stomping all over opponents throughout their current five-game winning streak. A few of those wins were even bigger, both being on the road and without Kevin Durant. Meanwhile back in the OKC, Durant’s young neighbor is moonwalking and and shuffling his way across the kitchen floor, basking in the “sweet, sweet smell of Kevin Durant’s fresh out of the box KDIIIs.” The video is mostly just for laughs, but you get a good sense of how the forefoot Flywire sections aide in flexion, which is absolutely critical for the Durantula’s size 17s. Click the jump below to see the video in its entirety and stick with Sneaker News for all Nike Zoom KDIII release dates.

This is going to be the biggest sneaker release weekend ever and plenty of new stuff is about to touch down at the Nike Sportswear flagship in NYC. Chief among them is the the seventh Doernbecher Freestyle collabo to benefit the Portland, OR childrens hospital by the same name. Each of the models is designed by a special youngster, including six total pairs, four of which will be available on Black Friday followed by the remaining two on Saturday. Friday releases include the Nike SB P-Rod 2.5, Air Force 1 ’07 LE, WMNS Free Run+ and Air Zenyth. That means that perhaps the biggest release of them all, the Doernbecher x Air Jordan III will drop the following day, along with a WMNS Zoom Vomero+ 5. All of these are super-unique, but the most attention will likely fall on that AJ3 Retro, which was pushed back to a December 4th drop, which means the 21 Mercer release offers a nice early advantage to New York sneakerheads. Check out all six pairs after the jump and get your North Face on pre-heat!

Gilbert Arenas can’t stop, and Gilbert Arenas won’t stop. Arenas has been wowing the crowd by dipping into his sneaker collection for NBA Games; he got our attention when he wore the Air Max Penny during pre-season photo-shoots and stole the spotlight from teammate John Wall by wearing the Air Jordan IX Premio. His latest selection comes in the form of the recently released Jordan CMFT Max Air 12 in the Black, White, and University Blue colorway that matched the Wizards uniform just enough. Gilbert’s sig shoe with adidas came in low-top form so his sneaker selection this time around – from a performance point of view – is not exactly a shocker. Check out the images from Gilbert’s game last night and stick with Sneaker News as we will keep you posted on Gilbert’s 2010-11 sneaker journey! via ESPN.

Derek Anderson, the shooting guard from Kentucky with the impeccably trimmed goatee, was once a recipient of Air Jordan Player Exclusives during Jordan Brand’s days of branching out to younger up-and-coming talents. After being drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers and going through one-year stints with the Clippers and Spurs, Derek Anderson found a home with the Portland Trail Blazers, and experience some of his better professional years there. During the 2003-2004 NBA Season, Anderson wore this Air Jordan XII Low PE in black and varsity red (colloquially referred to as the ‘Flu Games’), a never-before-released low-top version of one of the most historic Air Jordan colorways ever. Anderson’s initials of D.A. and his jersey number ’1′ are stitched on the tongue with ‘Loyal 1′ also placed on the outer heels of the shoe. Another interesting feature is the glossy finish on the pebbled red mudguard – a design feature not on the original ‘Flu Games’. Check out the detailed shots and snag this rare Air Jordan PE from qkro23 on eBay.

After a typically gluttonous spending spree during the Holiday season, shoppers make the New Years resolution of cutting down the shopping and clamping down the wallet. For sneakerheads, there is no New Years resolution or a period of financial cleansing or regeneration; it’s a 24/7/365 condition that relentlessly eats away at your will power to the point where masochism prevails and you have no choice but the swipe the plastic against the metallic strip and make yet another sneaker purchase. It’s a vicious cycle, and with the upcoming release of the Nike Air Griffey Max 1 in ‘Sport Red’, there’s no sign of remission. Color-blocked to perfection (although some nit-pickers might point out the Griffey didn’t wear ’24′ during his days as a Red), this is a bonafide ‘must-cop’ for Griffey fans and sneakerheads alike. SneakerHotline has a few pairs available now for not much more than retail so check out these new images and let us know if these are a definite for you.

The bar keeps rising on sneaker-inspired cake quality, and here’s the first one to feature a shoe that originally released right around the same time as the party. This Nike LeBron VIII ‘South Beach’ cake nails the art deco-derived colorway on the upper and laces, but uses a yellow sole to simulate the 360-degree Max Air cushion you’ll find on the real LeBron 8. It’s also one of the few sneaker cakes we’ve seen with the actual inspiration side by side, so you can take a look at the cake creation compared to the original. Here’s hoping for more sneaker cakes and who knows what other innovations will come out the oven; you can see more shots by clicking the jump below to see the whole spread. Big thanks to Jeffrey Castillo for the pics! And if you missed out on the real thing, get a pair of South Beach/Pre-Heat LeBron 8′s now on eBay.
