Nike Air Royal Mid Black Patent + Molded Leather

Tonal-black Air Royal Mids have been done before but not in this combination of materials. Check out the the patent leather toe with molded leather upper Air Royal Mid in a completely blacked-out colorway; the Royal Mid has been subject to crazy colorways and use of material and the molded leather look has bonded well with the high-top cut and silhouette of the Royal Mid. The entire Royal Mid Macarons Pack features the molded leather material and this new released pretty much repeats the black colorway of that pack but adds a nice patent leather finish on the forefoot of the shoe. As all Royal Mids go, these will be released at select Nike Sportswear store so keep your eyes out for this interesting new pair. via newmonday.

Air Jordan 1 Retro High GS – Daybreak – Ink – White

Here’s an all-new Air Jordan 1 Retro High release for the girls in a winter-friendly colorway of Daybreak, Ink, and White; you might’ve seen a similar colorway on the recently previewed Air Jordan Force Fusion IV ‘Laser’ that was also a girls-only release and it looks like this color combination will be a recurring theme for many girls color-ups from the Jordan Brand Holiday 2010 Collection. What makes this nubuck-uppered pair special is the lace applique on the center panel and toe, like the two previous releases we showed you. These new girls-only AJ1s just hit Jordan Brand retailers like SneakersNStuff but you can also pick up a pair on eBay.

Nike 6.0 Dunk SE DeLorean

The gull-winged sports car from the Irish auto brand DeLorean Motor Company was gilded into pop-culture history when it was used as Marty and Doc’s plutonium-powered time-travel machine. The DeLorean, using its 1.21 gigawatts of power, has thrust 25 years into the future and taken form of a Nike 6.0 Dunk SE in a metallic silver one-piece upper with black contrast piping, black vulc-midsole, and red and white accents on the bottom sole. Something about a Nike and Back To The Future partnership always results in success (the Nike Hyperdunk McFly, Air Mag), and with a limited run of 1,000 pairs and a release on Black Friday, the Nike 6.0 Dunk SE ‘DeLorean’ could be added to that list. Stay tuned to Sneaker News as we provide a detailed look at this upcoming shoe very soon, and let us know what you think of the design! via isneach.

Santigold x Vans Tosha Hi – Spring/Summer 2011

Vans has worked with plenty of musicians over the years, most of them of the aggressive male variety.  From Iron Maiden to Bad Brains, Off the Wall has typically stuck with acts commonly associated with skaters/skateboarding, but just as their Warped Tour has expanded its lineup in recent years, this new Vans collaboration reflects the increasingly cross-pollinated world of pop music.  The Santigold x Vans Tosha is slated to drop sometime in the first half of 2011 with a gold-accented black leather look that more or less perfectly represents its namesake artist’s stage apperance.  Click below to have a closer look and stick with Sneaker News for updates on the Vans Tasha by Santigold release date. via SF.es

Christian Hosoi x Vans Bash Vulc – Black + Royal Blue

Legendary skater Christian Hosoi continues to extend his influence long after his days dominating the halfpipe are done.  The Christian Hosoi x Vans Bash Vulc is ready to go in two new tonal colorways that make the most of this WTAPS-designed silhouette in a year when tonal=high fashion.  Pairs in black or royal blue each manage some depth of each shade by contrasting various leathers and suede atop Vans’ signature vulcanized waffle sole, but the coolest part might be the multicolored sockliner that hearkens back to Hosoi’s mid ’80s heyday.  Have a look at both pairs after the jump and look for these at select Off the Wall retailers now; they just hit Japan’s Beams and are also available on eBay.

Nike Air CB Sneaker Boot – Unreleased Sample

The Innovation Kitchen is always cooking up strange recipes and during Nike’s random experiments, many don’t end up in production – although we hope some did! Check out this circa 2006 Nike Boot inspired by the Air Max2 CB’94, the classic Nike Basketball sneaker from the 90′s. It features a similar upper design with the ‘dimples’ on the upper with a toe-box construction identical to the Barkley shoe as well as the upper lace-eyelets. These scrapped boots also features a visible Air Unit similar to the Basketball version, although the midsole has been swapped out for a more aggressive trail-ready construction. These shoes are nearly five years old and you may never come across these again, so check out the detailed shots after the jump and pick up this used yet rare sample from identitiesrevealed on eBay.

Michael Jordan Through The Years: Air Jordan III

The Air Jordan 1 caused controversy, and the Air Jordan II defied convention. The Air Jordan III tooted its horn when Michael Jordan wore them during the 1988 NBA Dunk Contest, winning in style over the favored Dominique Wilkins and performing the most memorable dunk in the contest’s history – one that will be forever instilled in NBA lore and imagery. The Air Jordan III presented a number of new features to the Air Jordan line, like visible Air, which debuted on the classic Air Max 1, the elephant print, which was a result of Jordan’s desire for an animal print on the shoe, and tumbled leather, which added a level of luxury to basketball shoes and satiated Jordan’s wishes.

The Air Jordan III opened the door to now legendary designer Tinker Hatfield, who went on to design the next twelve consecutive Air Jordan models. Hatfield and the design team worked tirelessly for weeks, sometimes going without sleep for days at time, to create a one-of-a-kind shoe fit for Jordan’s personal and specific tastes and grandstanding enough to be worthy of its own podium. The Air Jordan III also welcomed movie director and fellow Brooklyn-native Spike Lee into the Air Jordan marketing strategy; while the Air Jordan 1 & II utilized a dramatic angle, the III featured a comedic approach, with ‘Mars Blackmon’ hanging on a basketball rim while standing on the shoulders of his “main man” Michael Jordan and providing most of the dialogue while letting Jordan speak with his actions.

However, the Air Jordan III was almost at risk of never being created, as Michael Jordan considered leaving Nike, until a stern chat with his father and a meeting with Tinker Hatfield changed his mind and opened up a newfound excitement for the Air Jordan III and the future of his signature line. The excitement resulted in one of the most successful spans in Jordan’s career; Michael ended the ’88 season with an League MVP, Defensive Player of the Year, All-Star Game MVP, and Dunk Contest Trophy while providing a firm foundation for the following ’88-’89 season, which turned out to be Jordan’s best all-around campaign. The three original colorways were all in rotation – White for the Dunk Contest and regular season, Fire Red for the Playoffs, and Black for All-Star Game. The fourth original colorway, known as the ‘True Blues’, were never worn by Michael as a Bull, but he brought them out during his brief tenure with the Washington Wizards. The Air Jordan III is long considered one of the greatest footwear designs of all time, and by some to be the greatest Air Jordan in the label’s history. Continue reading for a gallery of Michael Jordan and the Air Jordan III and stay tuned to Sneaker News for the next volume of Michael Jordan Through The Years.

Vans Sk8 Hi + Slip On Keychains

Just a few years ago, the phrase ‘sneaker keychain‘ would have you picturing a crispy new pair and their hangtags.  But as sneakerhead culture continues to grow, the demand for accompanying accessories is also on the rise, and Sneaker News has shown you a variety of keychain sneakers over the past couple years.  Some have been created by fans as a tiny tribute, but the latest shoes-on-a-chain come straight from the source, with Vans celebrating two of their foundational models in miniature form.  The Vans Sk8-Hi and Slip-On keychains are surprisingly realistic, eschewing the ceramic painted look and opting instead for genuine sneaker materials like canvas and leather.  That makes these the most ‘authentic’ sneaker key keepers yet, and you can see more photos of all three models after the jump. via Dunk.
