Sneaker News Weekly Rewind: 12/25 12/31

2010 has been a great year for sneakers, and after giving our readers the opportunity to vote for their favorite kicks of the year, Sneaker News laid down a thorough list detailing the thirty best sneakers of the year. But it’s time focus on 2011, and in typical fashion,  Sneaker News laid out the best topics of the past week to close out 2010 with a bang. Plenty of Air Jordan, Nike Basketball, and Nike SB sneakers were previewed, like the Air Jordan 2011, Nike Hyperfuse 2011, and the Zoom Koston One, all of which you can expect to covered completely in detail by Sneaker News in the coming months. Kobe and LeBron made some additional noise with their kicks as LeBron debuted yet another colorway of the LeBron 8 V.2 and Rice H.S. made a return to the Zoom Kobe VI. Staying on the topic of Kobe Bryant, it has been announced that adidas will re-release the adidas Crazy 8 – one of Kobe’s signature shoes during his pre-Nike days.

DJ Clark Kent brought back his ’112′ colorway on one of his favorite sneakers of the year, the Nike Trainer SC 2010, and proved that his custom combination of volt green, 3M, and elephant print never fails. Another animal print was worth noting as well; the Nike Lunar Spider will release soon with tiger-stripes on the upper. One of the biggest ongoing stories was a massive sale of an incredible eBay auction, and although the prices were a bit higher than market, the items themselves were worth the look. Sneaker News also featured the Air Jordan VIII in the latest installment of the Michael Jordan Through The Years, detailing the VIII and Jordan’s first three-peat. Sneaker News would like to wish all of our loyal readers a safe and happy New Year, so close out 2010 on a high note by checking out the last Sneaker News Weekly Rewind of 2010!

Air Jordan III (3) Retro White Cement Grey | Pre order @ Kix Files

The upcoming Air Jordan III Retro in White, Cement Grey, and Fire Red will feature a packaging that’s as much fun as the box. Some don’t find the OG-inspired box a big deal, but others say its a nice touch (perhaps a tell-tale sign of age), but in the end, it’s what’s IN the box that brings us all together. The Air Jordan III and Tinker Hatfield is what kept Michael Jordan with Nike, because Michael himself was left completely speechless by the elephant print and overall design of the III, and once these release again near the end of January, we’ll all be riddled with the same inability to speak. These will retail at Jordan Brand accounts for $150, but Kix-Files is presenting the opportunity to reserve your pair now for just a little more, so check out these new images, pre-order your pair at Kix-Files, or pick up one right now on eBay.

Nike Zoom Kobe VI – ‘LA’ + Rice | New Images

It seems clear from all the images we’ve seen so far that the Nike Zoom Kobe VI Rice High School PE offers a kind of beauty you can’t capture in a photograph.  These new shots reveal a more neon-leaning green in use on the Swooshes sole and tongue, but this new lighting setup only offers a hint at what looks to be the sickest high school player exclusive we’ve ever seen.  Both the scales on the Flywire-embedded upper and the ZK6′s heel counter offer an iridescent yellow/green range that knocks off the ‘Grinch’ to become the most realistic reptile look yet.  And then on the complete opposite end of the spectrum, the Zoom Kobe 6 ‘LA’ comes in with a Dodgers-inspired colorway complete with clear sole, LA sky scene on the uppers and tattoo-style graphics on the heel.  He hasn’t been attached, but Mr. Cartoon has gotta be lovin’ these, and you can see more shots of both upcoming Zoom Kobe Sixes after the jump.  via Kickz-Lab

Nike LeBron 8 V2 White Sport Red Black | Available on eBay

LeBron James and the Miami Heat have certainly kicked it up a notch – is the LeBron 8 V2 responsible for that surge? The Heat streak began long before LeBron even debuted the V2 but he’s been keeping Miami on pace, going undefeated since he first debuted the V2 on Christmas Day. Looks like the early-season jitters for the Big Three down in Miami are gone, because Miami is one of the hottest teams in the league. LeBron has yet to wear the White/Sport Red-Black colorway of the V2 but with plenty of Home games down the stretch, we’re sure it’ll pop up soon. These aren’t set for a release until January 2011, but you can cop them now from 95soleman on eBay.

Nike Zoom Speed Low II – Black – White – New Images

Even though the man already has two Nike Basketball signatures with a third on the way, there’s no denying the above pictured shoe’s resemblance to Kobe Bryant’s latest.  The Black Mamba proved that Zoom Kobes IV, V and VI all offer increasingly superb performance in a low-cut package, and now the ZK5′s basic shape comes up again on the new Nike Zoom Speed Low II.  The second Zoom Speed follows up on the early 2010 original, setting a course that would appear to place the Zoom Speed Low III silhoutte to be something of a sequel to the Zoom Kobe VI. That’s a whole year off, though, and the Zoom Speed Low II just became available so check out more shots after the jump and look for these soon at US retailers; Japan’s EST Premium just got theirs and we also found a few on eBay.

Nike WMNS Air Max 360 Trainer 1 – White – Black – Silver – Green | Spring 2011

Nike introduced the Air Max Trainer 1 for women earlier this year in a number of GR and ‘Air Attack’ colorways. Featuring a form-fitting slimmer upper, forefoot stabilizing strap, and visible Max Air, the overall purpose of the Air Max Trainer 1 Low was the support the feet of female athletes both hardcore and casual. Well, the ride’s about to get a lot more comfortable, because for Spring 2011, Nike will release the Air Max 360 Trainer 1, a 360-Air cushioned version of the 2010 release. You can expect this colorway of White, Black, Matte Silver, and Victory Green in the Spring 2011 season (very OG Chlorophyll-esque).

Jordan CMFT Max Air 12 – Black – Freshwater – Midnight Fog

2011 will be a big year for Jordan Brand as we’ll get to see what the brand has in store in terms of its Air Jordan x Air Max hybrid. For January, however, we’ll get a few more colorways of the Jordan CMFT Max Air 12, like this one in Black, Freshwater, and Midnight Fog. The upper features a large-vented mesh upper with a Freshwater teal inner lining and Max Air unit. It’s like combining the comfort of Max Air  with the slick design of an Air Jordan – which is clearly the basis behind the nomenclature of the Air Jordan x Air Max releases. Finishline just got these in a bit early so take another look after the jump and head there to cop.

Nike ACG Air Max Bakin’ Posite Boot – Black | Available @ Nikestore

In today’s recession-stricken economy, it’s getting tougher and tougher to find products that are truly worthy your hard earned money. But the Nike ACG Air Max Bakin’ Posite Boot just might be the best bang for your buck – even with a hefty $215 price tag. Why? The super-durable boot features a Foamposite upper, which laughs at a face of creasing and trudges through snow like a military-grade battle-tank speeding through a tundra. While it’s massive up top, it’s soft and comfortable down low due to the full-length visible Max Air unit. The Bakin’ Posite Boot is a combination of two of Nike’s most costly materials, which in turn is reflected by the high retail price, but we’re certain that $215 on the Bakin’ Posite Boot is $215 well spent. The Black colorway just hit Nikestore, but if $215 is too high, you can also grab a pair for under retail on eBay.
