Concepts x New Balance 999 ‘The Kennedy’

Concepts New Balance 999 The Kennedy Summary

The recent Nike Air Royal ‘Your Time Will Come’ is a strong contender for most abstract sneaker theme yet, but here’s one with its own esoteric appeal.  Pulled off by the two absolute best brands to do it, the Concepts x New Balance 999 ‘The Kennedy’ is an homage to their New England home and one of its most famous sons.  No word yet on whether a vodka-infused Ted model will be on the way, but this John F. Kennedy-inspired 999 runner evokes the infamous president’s love of New England sailing culture.

There are tiny nautical flags on the sockliner and bigger ones on the tongue tag, but even without these clever details the colorway would be a must-cop.  It’s rare to see white, grey and brown all on the same shoe without it looking washed out, but thanks to a super vivid blue heel cup and those aforementioned pops of color, what you get is one of the best collaborations we’ve seen all year.  Have a closer look at the Sneaker Freaker 20 coverboy after the jump and stick with Sneaker News for more details on this March 2011 release.  via SF
