February is dedicated to the remembrance of Black History in America – an annual tradition that began in 1976. Nike has also been a part of celebratiNG the month-long event by releasing special colorways of its sneakers – most notably the Nike Air Force 1. Here’s a look at the Nike Zoom Kobe VI ‘Black History Month’; it features a ‘Big Stage Away‘ colorway of Black and Gold with a black upper, gold swoosh, heel-counter, and heel outsole, and a ‘BHM’ logo on the window of the heel-counter. Aside from the colorway is the elegant ridges used on the upper, which mimics the African tradition of facial and bodily scarification which has been a form of art and symbolic of strength and courage within African culture. Check out the extra images after the jump and stick with Sneaker News for more Kobe VI release info. via NT.

i like the all-stars from earlier today better. these are still nice and commemorate a significant time period in our history, but just as far as the colors go the all-stars just hit the top of my list.
