Black History Month signifies a month-long remembrance and honorary dedication to the influential events and moments that have shaped Black History in America. Nike, Jordan Brand, and Converse have teamed up to pay homage to three basketball athletes past and present who have exemplified greatness through their stellar achievements by creating the special Black History Month colorways of select Nike, Jordan, and Converse sneakers. Julius Erving, Michael Jordan, and Kobe Bryant are the three icons of basketball and Black History that will be celebrated next month through a special set of Nike/Jordan/Converse footwear in a pristine black/gold colorway.
The Air Jordan III, Nike Zoom Kobe VI, and Converse Star Player represent Jordan, Bryant, and Erving respectively, but a fourth sneaker silhouette in the Air Force 1 Low will also be included as the singular unit that ties in Nike basketball heritage into one shoe. Also part of the Black History Month 2011 Collection is a Nike Sportswear Destroyer Jacket and a Dri-FIT t-shirt, which will release on February 12th alongside the Nike Air Force 1 Low. Both the Air Jordan III and Kobe VI will be available at NikeTown, Nike.com, and select retailers nationwide on February 26th, and the Converse Star Player will be available at Converse retailers during the month of February as well.
