Hot on the heels of another pack of New Balance ML574s recently previewed here on Sneaker News is another collection of the venerated runner, a pack that’ll hit retail a bit earlier. These four new ML574s are all done in the classic suede and mesh combo with simple yet timely colorways that bring that vintage look full circle. Check out two different navy blue pairs, another in beige with navy accents and a green joint we wish would somehow make it out as part of the spring collection. Nike Sportswear debuted a gladiator-style sandal for women a couple years back, and considering we haven’t seen a new pair since summer 2009, the time is right for its sequel. Enter the Nike WMNS Gladiateur 2, a slightly higher take on this familiar theme with four new colorways all sporting white Swooshes. Terry Kennedy just received an unprecedented third signature sneaker from Supra in the form of the Society Mid, but we can’t forget about the second. The Supra Stacks was designed as a contrast to the ultra-high TK Society, its simple design a breath of fresh air as compared to the Society High’s ostentatious strap setup. There are a ton of new colorways on tap for spring, all of which are simply blocked but add some personality thanks to clever contrast hits. Pretty much every pair keeps it to three colors or less, with highlights including a black suede and canvas pair with teal and red plus a grey pair with the same upper material blocking that features the first translucent sole we’ve seen from the Crown brand. Jordan Brand may have officially unveiled the first four colorways of the Air Jordan 2011 to the media yesterday, but it seems that JB still had one trick left up their sleeves. Tonight as the Heat took on the Knicks under the bright lights at MSG, Dwyane Wade dressed to impress in another yet-to-be-seen edition of the Air Jordan 2011, marking the first time that we’ve seen Wade wear the shoe since he gave us that sneak peek on Christmas Day. This new version of the 2011 features a predominantly black on black look with a patent overlay and the only color contrast coming by way of the translucent outsole and a few subtle hits of white. Expect the shoe to hit retail in the near future, but for now, you can check out some more pics after the jump and stay tuned for release info coming soon.

Last week’s Air Jordan III White/Cement Grey release marked the fourth overall release of the shoe; before 2011 was a Retro release in 2003 and 1994, and of course, the original debut in 1988. With the 2011 version arriving with a great Jordan box inspired by the original, an Air Jordan III retrospective might’ve ran through your thoughts once or twice. Here’s a look back at the Original 1988, 1994 Retro, and 2011 Retro box packaging of the White/Cement III; the original version, in which the 2011 version was modeled after, featured a black box-top with a red Jumpman and Nike Air insignia, while the 2011 version features a Jumpman and Jumpman Air logo (for obvious reasons). So what’s the deal with the 1994 box? If you remember, 1994 was Michael Jordan’s first full year of retirement, and Nike was planning ahead on keeping the Air Jordan Legacy alive after he was no longer an active player, and re-issuing classic Air Jordans was one way to rekindle the fire. The box itself is a mosiac of all the Air Jordans up to that date, depicting the Air Jordan models from years before as well as Spike Lee and the popular Air Jordan III ad campaigns in which he was a part of.
In addition to comparing the previous boxes is a nice side-by-side between the Air Jordan III from 1994 and 2011. The ’94 version was the last of its colorway to feature Nike Air on the heel (the 2003 version featured a Jumpman and was housed in a plain Jordan Brand box), but the branding issue isn’t the only discrepancy; the upper dimensions have been slightly altered over the years, although noticeable only when juxtaposed (how often will that really happen?). The seed was planted in the 1995 NBA Playoffs when Michael Jordan, fresh from retirement, unofficially debuted the Air Jordan XI ‘Concord’ during the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals. Michael made the decision to wear the test sample simply because he could not resist the unparalleled beauty of the shoe. The cat was let out of the proverbial bag when sideline reporter Ahmad Rashad held up Jordan’s shoe to the camera before a game and introduced it as the next Air Jordan shoe, much to the chagrin of Nike’s mad scientist Tinker Hatfield who had urged Michael to not wear the shoe as it was not in production and was still a sample. As they say, there really is no bad publicity, because the Air Jordan XI quickly enamored Jordan fans across the globe and created an astounding ‘hype’ for a shoe that resulted in immense lines and near riots upon its release. Although the Bulls lost that Playoff series to the Orlando Magic, Michael was already seething for a full-season comeback later that year.
On paper, the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls weren’t much different from the season before; even with Michael Jordan, the Bulls were unable to defeat the younger Orlando squad. The only major change to the Bulls line-up was the acquisition of Dennis Rodman, a rebounding extraordinaire who’s penchant for loose balls was exceeded only by has flamboyant off-the-court lifestyle. Not only did Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls bounce back, they finished the 1995-96 season with the most regular season wins in NBA history, winning 72 of 82 regular season games and 87 of 100 games counting the Playoffs. The league was at the mercy of Michael Jordan, to which he never let down his firm grip; a much-anticipated rematch against the Orlando Magic in the Eastern Conference Finals was wildly anticlimactic as the Bulls swept their Eastern Conference foes in four games and dismantled the Seattle Sonics in six. Michael Jordan, who was retired spectator just fourteen months ago, defined his greatness by bringing an NBA Championship back to the Chicago Bulls.
The most recognizable and arguably the most memorable pair of the Air Jordan XI is the classic Black/Red colorway; it featured a tonal black upper, combining patent leather and Cordura nylon, with a white midsole and a translucent red outsole and Jumpman logo. The quintessential Chicago Bulls combination of Black/Red is often the representative of each Air Jordan model and while each and every Air Jordan XI colorway was immensely popular, it is the Black/Red Bulls colorway that will be the figurehead of the eleventh Air Jordan installment. After a sell-out original release in 1995, the Black/Red Air Jordan XI released once again in 2001 and in 2008 (as part of the Air Jordan XI/XII Collezione Package). Michael Jordan also wore the White/Columbia Blue-Black colorway during the 1996 NBA All-Star Game; that too re-released in 2001, and there are currently rumors of a release for 2011 or 2012. A low-top version of the Air Jordan XI called Jordan XI IE Low was also released – one that Michael wore for a few games as well. This latest upcoming colorway of the adidas ZX800 just boosted it up a few notches because in addition to the great combination of colors, the materials used might be the most impressive we’ve ever seen on a ZX. Very players in the league have had to beat a bad rap like Zach Randolph did. The former Michigan State Spartan southpaw started his career with the Portland Trailblazers during their infamous tumultuous era of immature young players mired in legal troubles, but amidst all that haze (pun intended?) Zach Randolph emerged as a legitimate 20-10 threat and put up fantasy-friendly numbers wherever he played (POR, NYK, LAC, and now MEM) and finally received his first All-Star nod in 2010. This season, Zach Randolph has been wearing this Grizzlies-inspired colorway of the Nike Air Max Hyped with his Z-Bo PE logo on the heel. It’s been working for him because he’s putting up yet another 20-10 campaign while averaging a career high in boards (13.1 per contest at the moment).
