Jordan Brand took advantage of the post-recession fashion fallout by releasing the Air Jordan XI Retro ‘Cool Grey’ during the holiday season of a year that featured the ‘non-color’ in streetwear and sneaker design more than any other on record. And while we’re starting to see signs of brighter (and higher-contrast) days to come, you still can’t argue that grey suede kicks are extremely versatile, and in the case of the Wolf Grey Air Jordan 5, downright beautiful. These joints will hit select retailers on May 14th and are practically begging for a bright set of replacement laces. Click through to see some new photos and let us know if you plan on copping the Wolf Grey AJV. via MN

Everybody knows the cliché “April showers bring May flowers,” but how about April’s sneakers bringing along May’s releases? That’s just what we’ve got here in this preview of the Nike SB Summer 2011 collection, a Q2 drop list that includes shoes we expect to see in April with a few that may spill over into the following month. Let’s start with the Nike SB Dunk Pro, which comes in two high-contrast lowtop colorways and the ‘Raiders’ Dunk Mid SB we previewed a short while back. The Zoom Stefan Janoski will debut in its midtop as well, but don’t forget about the OG lows, which look superb in the Teal/Abyss combo. Last but not least is a brown V-Rod plus a ‘Mulder’-style Zoom Bruin SB, and you can see every one of these pairs in additional photos when you click on the jump below. via MIA

We’ve been through several months worth of strapless Nike SB Dunk Mids now, and unlike the fat tongue debacle, it seems like many sneakerheads and skaters are actually pleased with the change. Here’s a look at a Dunk Mid SB from a bygone era that never made it to retail, and judging by the ankle strap, has little chance of resurrection. These joints have a distinct Christmas feel thanks to an emerald green suede upper adding a black croc Swoosh and red accents, but a gum rubber outsole offers the kind of timeless styling necessary to make these a year-round look. A model you’d insta-cop upon release or something best left in the sample stages? Here’s another surprise collaboration from Jordan Brand on the eve of the 2011 NBA All Star Game. Dropping just after the Air Jordan 2011 and its special Skull Candy collabo package is this trio of Casio G-Shock wrist watches. If you’ve been reading Sneaker News, you already know about the AJ2011′s Quick/Explosive interchangeable cushioning system, and just like the Skullcandy Aviator headphones were crafted with mismatching cans, you have the option of either a blue or red look to compliment their respective insoles, and of course you gotta throw a black edition in there for good measure. These joints are hitting Footaction locations around the country even as you read this, so click through to see more and let us know which color you plan to purchase. via FRESHNESS

After falling out in the semis at this year’s Australian Open, Roger Federer is currently not the defending champion at any grand slam. It’s staggering to think that this breaks a streak dating back to July 2003, and yet more proof that were he to spontaneously combust or otherwise drop off the face of the earth, the Swiss Maestro is the greatest post-Sampras player and a serious contender for the GOAT. Will Federer be able to regain his championship form later this year? A win at the French Open seems unlikely with Rafael Nadal practically owning Roland Garros but there’s no doubt Fed’s footwear game is in order for another Grand Slam run. Here’s a new Nike Lunar Vapor 8 Tour colorway in black with lime accents, the type of exuberant color scheme you’d expect to see at the Aussie or maybe later this year at the US Open. Click through to get a better look at this new colorway and grab yours today from RMKStore.

The stars were shining bright on Friday night as celebrities took the Staples Center home court for a East vs. West matchup with star-studded rosters. On the East squad, reigning Celebrity All-Star Game MVP Michael Rapaport took the court with the Nike Zoom Kobe VI as did teammate Common, the actor/musician who calls Chicago home. Other East teammates featured former NBA superstars Scottie Pippen, who wore the Nike Air Pippen II, and Chris Mullin, who flashed his signature buzzcut with the Nike Zoom Hyperfuse Low. The game was taken by the West squad, led by game MVP Justin Bieber and his adidas Crazy 8. His winning effort was assisted by A.C. Green, Jalen Rose (who wore the Zoom LeBron III), Rob Kardashian (in the league-banned APL), Lil’ Romeo (or just ‘Romeo’ since he’s grown up now), and hip-hop artist Trey Songz in the Zoom Kobe VI. Check out the rest of the Celebrity Game action and let us know if you could take Justin Bieber in a game of H.O.R.S.E.! via ESPN.

When summertime rolls around, white sneakers are a must and Nike Sportswear has the ladies covered with a dope new colorway of a retro running staple. This new Nike WMNS Air Max 90 is almost entirely white, with tonal effects thanks to a contrast between leather and mesh sections, plus a grey shade on the mudguard. Just above that you’ll find a Metallic Platinum Swoosh that’s done in a sparkly material to maximize the bling. Add to this super clean diamond-leaning look a black-on-black tongue tag and these have all the indications of a special release with a GR pricetag. Click through to see more and grab yours before they hit wide retail, courtesy of Kicks-Crew.

The twelfth annual NBA Rookie/Sophomore Game went down last night at the Staples Center, with John Wall earning MVP honors for his 22-assist performance while leading the Rookies to its second straight victory over the Sophomores. John Wall wore the Reebok Zig Slash designed by Dylan Stratton, the winning submission of the John Wall Reebok Zig Slash Design Contest. His rookie teammate Blake Griffin wore the Air Max Fly By PE as did a number of other players on court, and Landry Fields wore a sweet Knicks-inspired Nike Zoom Kobe VI iD. On the Sophomore side, James Harden of the OKC Thunder wore the Nike Zoom Kobe VI ‘Orange County’ while teammate Demar Derozan wore his own Raptors-friendly Kobe VI iD. There’s certainly a lot more to see and you know Sneaker News has a great gallery waiting for you, so take a look below and let us know what you think. via Yahoo!.

It’s pretty amazing the difference just fourteen months can make in the world of fashion and shoe design. It was right at the crossover of 2009/2010 that we saw the first Star Wars x adidas Originals Superskate ‘Stormtrooper’ release, and as you might expect from the character from whom its inspiration was drawn, this snekaer is done almost entirely in white with black and grey accent hits. And while this new Stormtrooper Superskate is also nearly all-white, the Bape-aping multicolor camo that lines the insides and colors the tongue tag is a clear indication of where things are headed this year. Click through to see more and grab these today from select Three Stripes retailers like Caliroots.

Anyone familiar with the history of sneaker design could look at a Nike Terminator High and in one second determine it’s a basketball shoe from the mid 1980s, but lately the Term has started to seem an awful lot like a boot. From the fur lined pairs to the Hiking Boot Pack, never have more Terminators released with rugged touches and the latest has us more ‘confused’ than ever. Birch, cream and black is more like the color palette you’d expect from a basketball and its hardwood court rather than any team uniform they’d be matching. Add to that a couple of D-ring eyelets and these could have just as easily joined the outdoorsy releases from late last year, but luckily, they’re available right now from Size?.
