Word out of Charlotte is Michael Jordan has been participating in Bobcats scrimmages and coach Paul Silas has gone so far as to say that “If he got in shape he could probably average about 15 to 20 points a game, no question, because he still has the shot.”  It seems absolutely insane to imagine a forty-seven (48 on Thursday) year old MJ back in the NBA, especially since the Bobcats are poised to return to the playoffs even without his Airness.  But then again, when you consider what happened the last time Mike laced up his Air Jordans for an NBA Playoff run, the idea is downright tantalizing.  The same can be said of the above pictured Air Jordan XIII Retro, a sneaker that earned its nickname as Jordan’s home playoff sneaker in 1998.  So one way or another, Jordan and Playoffs are coming together and you can get a better look at new Dunk pics of the upcoming Air Jordan 13 release when you click on the jump below.  They’re slated to hit US retailers on Saturday, February 26th, but you can get yours early now on eBay.

Paul Rodriguez is something like the Michael Jordan of skateboarding, at least when it comes to annual-signature-sneaker status.  They’re also both connected to extremely popular sub brands of the world’s leader in athletic footwear and apparel, so we’ve seen their paths cross before.  Whether it’s the variety of Chicago-style P-Rod colorways or the Elephant print-equipped ‘Supreme’ P-Rod 2, it’s clear Paul’s sneaker tastes were shaped by the GOAT, and in a video by CCS depicting Rodriguez’ favorite possessions, a gem of a special edition sneaker popped up.  Created for Jordan in his size 13, P-Rod tells the tale of how the kind folks at Nike had MJ sign the uni-blue Nike SB V-Rod and then delivered it to the young skater with Mike’s signature on the vulcanized sole.  Seems like a pretty cool life and you can see the entire video for a look at what it’s like to be P-Rod, when you click on the jump below.

The annual Grammy Awards always sees musicians dressed to the nines but here’s a look at a young actor who stole a piece of the sneaker spotlight on Sunday night.  Will Smith’s son Jaden was pictured alongside Usher and Justin Bieber whilst wearing a 1 of 1 Supra Skytop II featuring a bold red, black and gold mix.  They’re so intense you might not even have noticed Bieber finished off his white tux with a pair of Skytops, but with those two in tow, Usher’s high fashion look took a backseat.  Click through to see the group shot plus more closeups of Jaden Smith’s Supra Skytop II.

Reebok released a series of Shawn Kemp signatures in the mid ’90s under the Kamakaze name.  They also dropped a 2K10 update last year, so while the design is clearly similar, it’s a bit confusing that the as yet unnamed pictured sneaker will also be the Reebok Kamikaze.  Considerably more clear is that this is Swizz Beatz’ Reebok sneaker and their partnership was officially unleashed at a recent event in Las Vegas.  Swizzy showed up in a Jean-Michel Basquiat tee and showed off the new shoes at Project in Sin City, including a crazy pink snakeskin pair made in commemoration of this year’s Grammy Awards.  Click through and have a better look and let us know which pair is the best, and stick with Sneaker News for the Swizz Beatz x Reebok release date.

Arriving during the very last weekend of February is the Air Jordan III Retro ‘Black History Month’ Edition. Since the birthday of Martin Luther King Jr. last month, NBA players have been wearing Black/Gold special edition colorways of sneakers during games to pay tribute and represent the proud history of Blacks in America; the Black and Gold theme was selected to represent history and greatness, and there are very few shoes that carry as much weight as the Air Jordan III. Michael Jordan won his second slam-dunk contest in these sneakers, and created one of the most memorable moments in sports history when he flew from the free-throw line and dunked the ball in elegant fashion.
