With February drawing to a close, a few key items from the Nike/Jordan Brand Black History Month Pack have hit at just the right time. Check out the Nike Zoom Kobe VI and Air Jordan III Retro ‘BHM’ editions, both of which are crafted in black with gold accents. The black sections get a rich tonal effect thanks to the symbols pressed into the TPU and laser etched into the leather of these respective models. They’re each a perfect match for the Nike Sportswear Destroyer varsity jacket, and you can cop the entire collection today courtesy of the homies at Extra Butter.

Charlotte Bobcats coach Paul Silas recently said in an interview that Michael Jordan, at age 47, could still average 20 points a game. Michael participates in the Charlotte Bobcats practices from time to time and based on Coach Silas’ observations, “he still has the shot.” During a recent shoot-around session with Gerald Wallace, Tyrus Thomas, and other Charlotte players, Michael Jordan wore the Air Jordan 2011 in White/Black-Anthracite. Whether or not he chose ‘Quick’ (Zoom) or ‘Explosive’ (Max Air) hasn’t been determined, but the old baldy can still work up a sweat and teach the youngsters a thing or two. Amar’e Stoudemire broke out a new colorway for the 2011 NBA All-Star Game this past Sunday, and while the black and blue look would work for regular season play as well, here’s a look at a new Nike Air Max Fly By PE that’s pure New York basketball. Were this colorway any more natural a match for home games at Madison Square Garden, they’d have to have the entire Knickerbockers team name plastered on ‘em. As it turns out, this white-based AM Fly By with mostly orange accents plus a few blue hits is a far better look with the ‘AS’ logo at its lateral ankle, and with Carmelo Anthony having helped NYK secure the win after Amar’e fouled out last night, Knicks fans have even more to celebrate (seriously; get ready for some of the best Air Jordan colorways ever!). Click through to see more of Amar’e's latest Nike Basketball player exclusive and stick with Sneaker News for the latest in NBA Feet.

Hot on the heels of our latest look at the Air Max JR hybrid is this colorway borrowed from 2009′s initial Air Griffey Max 1 retro. Check out the Nike Air Griffey Max II (not to be confused with the Air Griffey Max GD II) in the ‘Fresh Water’ colorway that found the AGM1 leaving retail shelves as fast as they could be stocked. These joints feature a lockdown lacing system, carbon fiber heel counter and Max Air cushioning in the heel and forefoot. They’re not all that dissimilar to the original teal joints that will also retro later this year, so this begs the question, these or OGs? Click through to see more of the Fresh Water Griffey Max II and stick with Sneaker News for the exact release date, currently set for April.

Dudes have been rocking Jordans to prom since the AJXI introduced basketball sneakers to patent leather, but it’s considerably less frequent to see them on what many consider the most important single day of their lives. But we did just see a beautiful bride rocking a pair of 25th Anniversary Elevens, so the precedent has been set for Jays as the footwear of choice for a gala wedding. Such is the case with this crazy Air Jordan V sample that was created as a 1of1 for a Jordan Brand executive’s nuptials back in 2006. The date of the ceremony is embroidered into the inner tongue tag, with the black, white and gold colorway strongly resembling the AJVI DMP (and of course, something of an Un-DMP XI). Click through to get a better view and let us know if you’ve ever worn your Jays to a formal event. Thanks Carter1203

Here’s a double-dose of some NBA Feet Air Jordan action. Gilbert Arenas wore the Air Jordan IX in the OG White/Black-Varsity Red colorway during Orlando’s match-up against the Sacramento Kings. Up North, Amir Johnson of the Toronto Raptors grabbed our attention by wearing the Air Jordan XII in White/Varsity Red. While we know about Gilbert’s penchant for sneakers, Johnson has been relatively quiet throughout the season, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t know his kicks. In fact, he was spotted wearing Playoff XIIIs during the NBA All-Star Weekend, as he was on hand to assist teammate and Dunk Contest participant Demar Derozan for the night. Check out both Arenas and Johnson in their Jordans after the jump and let us know which of the two kicks you like better! via ESPN.

The Alexander McQueen for Puma collaboration seemed to take on a solemn tone after the designer’s untimely passing but here’s a new look that brings us back closer to the bold looks for which he was known. These new Alexander McQueen x Puma Twist Leather hightops take a clean silhouette similar to the Suede Mid and apply a ribbon cut spiral effect such that the grey upper reveals its grainier side and the yellow sateen lining. These should have a pretty crazy visual effect as they move through space, and you can see more shots after the jump then grab yours from Browns.

The phrase ‘Gourmet 22 Tall‘ probably brings to mind images of ordering coffee at Starbucks, but despite the caffeinated implication, it’s also a laid-back hightop from the good folks at Gourmet. The 22 Tall is shaped pretty similarly to the Nike Blazer High, its classic lines emphasized in a trio of simple new colorways. There are pairs in grey/white, navy/white and cream/yellow, each of which is crafted in soft leather with a plsuh terry cloth sockliner. Click through to see detailed images of all three and grab yours today from End.

If there’s anything as ‘American’ as baseball and apple pie, it’s canvas hightop basketball sneakers. This new pack of Nike Blazer High TGs manages to meld some of that classic Chuck Taylor vibe with a duo of New York Yankees colorways that’s perfectly timed with MLB spring training fully underway. These pairs are nearly opposites of one another, one opting for navy blue accents on a grey base while the other mixes white and grey atop navy, each with contrasting toe sections. Opening day might be more than a month away but you can play ball in these right now when you grab a pair from Size? or on eBay.

It’s really weird to see the ‘vintage’ Andre Agassi rocking adidas gear and sneakers in 2K Sports’ upcoming Top Spin 4. We’ll stop short of labeling this some kind of Orwellian newspeak but sudder to think young Xboxers might see these images and think the mulletted one repped Three Stripes his entire career. Sneakerheads know better, and we remember a time in the early ’90s when Andre’s wild persona and on-court appearance were a 1:1 match with Nike’s rebellious rise. Here’s our first look at a new model based on his original signature, the Nike Air Grandslam SI. These joints are modeled after the original Air Tech Challenge, but feature a lowtop silhouette with a lifestyle’d sole that’s somewhere between the ATC and something slimmer like the Dunk. Click through to get a better look at this unreleased sample, let us know if you’d grab these were they to hit retail and if you wanna grab a US mens size 9 sample, look no further than dballaholic on eBay.

When it came time to choose the matchup for our fourth and final NCAA Feet: Toe to Toe battle of the year, there weren’t too many teams left that really stood out as a full squad, so we decided to flip the script. Gilbert Arenas already has the NBA title locked down, but before March Madness begins, it’s time to crown the College Sneaker Champ – the collegiate-level player with the best sneaker game this season. The NCAA is filled with young sneakerheads who love to show off their kicks, but we chose eight players who’s sneaker arsenals have stayed on point throughout the entire season to see who comes out on top. The nominees come from some of our previous Toe to Toe match-ups, as well as a few players from other schools who’ve been keeping their kicks fresh all on their own. Check out all of the nominees after the jump to see some of our finalists’ best sneaker selections from this past year, and be sure to vote for whoever you think should be the 2011 College Sneaker Champ!

Three signature shoes in a span of three years is what Nike has done in terms of Retroing the Nike Griffey signature line. With the upcoming (and highly anticipated) release of the Nike Air Griffey Max 2 which followed the immensely successful Air Griffey Max 1 and somewhat lagging Air Griffey Max GD II, there’s no doubt that the Nike Griffey line has been one of the most successful Retros to date, and we’re certain Nike has some extra plans for Griffeys that go beyond the signature line. Perhaps we can see a multi-shoe hybrid like the 1/2 Cent was for the Air Penny line, but here’s a look at the Air Max JR, which takes the Air Griffey Max 1 and transforms it into a 21st century all-purpose athletic shoe ready to tear up the course.
The Air Max JR features a Air Griffey Max 1 upper design, but that’s as far as it goes. The ankle strap has been removed, but you can still see Griffey’s ’24′ embedded into the upper ankle where the strap would be. Nike’s super-lightweight Torch material also inhabits sections of the build, obviously giving these a lighter overall package. The most daunting alteration is clearly the 360-degree Max Air unit, which plays a role in the comfort side of things. Two colorways are confirmed for this Summer 2011 season; a Black/Black-Varsity Red for April and Cool Grey/Neon Yellow-Dark Charcoal in May – both with a pricetag of $150. Continue reading for detailed images on these two upcoming colorways of the Air Max JR and let us know what you think of this new design.
