Customizing sneakers isn’t for everyone. It requires more than a unique vision of sneakers, but a robotic steady hand and the patience of a schoolteacher. If you’re missing any one of the above, chances are your custom kicks will look more like beaters to wear for manual labor. Jake Danklefs happens to have all the necessary skills of a sneaker customizer, and the results of his Nike Air Max 90 ‘Grinchfared‘ prove that. Jake first attacked the upper synthetic suede with a soldering iron to create the snakeskin ‘grooves’ (for those who are curious, soldering irons are also great for making your own elephant print). He then painted the modified upper with a candy apple green and applied a yellow splash of color on the tongue and white mesh sectionals on the upper. Jake successfully combined one of the ‘sexiest’ sneakers in recent memory with a surefire classic with perfect execution, but whether or not the two fit together is up to you. Check out a procedural journey below and let us know what you think! via NK.
