In 2009, the Nike Air Griffey Max 1 was included in Sneaker News’ Top 30 Sneakers of 2009. Will it’s true sequel, the Nike Air Griffey Max II, have enough steam for it to be included in our list for 2011? Sneaker News first gave you a peek at the Nike Air Griffey Max II when we gave you a huge preview of Summer 2011 releases, and right away, the Air Griffey Max II was placed in center attention. Along with the OG ‘Freshwater’ colorway, this new Mariners-inspired combination of Midnight Navy and Chlorine Blue should be a big-time hit once it releases. When will that be? May 28th, 2011 is the date to circle on your calendar, so check out these new images of this upcoming colorway and stick with Sneaker News for more information as it develops.

It’s been nearly a year since we first saw the higher cut Janoski signature and that first colorway in black suede with white accents is finally shipping out to select SB spots. This new edition addresses the only significant criticism anyone’s issued against the lowtops, offering a bit more ankle protection from twists and scuffs, all while maintaining the line’s signature deck shoe aesthetic. Click through to see more shots and look for these at US Nike SB retailers soon; the UK’s Flatspot just got theirs.

Never one to settle for ‘standard’, Japanese visionary designer Yohji Yamamoto has once again remixed some of today’s common aesthetics and come up with something wildly unique. The latest in a long line of avant garde looks from the adidas x Y-3 sublabel, the Y-3 Kubo Mid is a fitting name even if this is more of a hightop, since everything about its design is exaggerated. These joints are crafted in a stretchy mesh that meets a Superstar-like shell toe and rests on a sole so crazy it’d make Reebok ZigTechs do a double-take. The only thing calm about these is their black and white color scheme, which seems to invite you to come up with even crazier clothing combos with which to pair them. Click through to see more, let us know what you think and grab a pair today direct from Y-3.

After debuting the adidas adiZero Rose, adidas paired Derrick Rose with Slim Chin. Then, after we got a look at the adidas adiZero Rose 1.5, Rose brought us into his ‘Fast World’, where we learned a little more about the MVP-candidate and Bulls point guard. But before the adidas adiZero Rose 2 releases later this year, Rose still has a mission to accomplish – to win an NBA Title for the Chicago Bulls. Currently atop the Eastern Conference, the Chicago Bulls are ready to throw down with any other Eastern squad, and in this latest adidas Basketball video, Rose is telling us it’s just too easy, as he spins one of his shoes on his fingertips with ease, because the shoes are just so darn lightweight. Light Makes Fast, and Fast Don’t Lie, so Light Don’t Lie? Check out this latest vid below and let us know if you think D-Rose and the Bulls have what it takes to go all the way.

Arriving in Summer 2011 is the re-release of the Nike Air Trainer Max2 ’94. You might remember these making a comeback as recent as 2007 , but were not a top seller. Will the fate of the Air Trainer Max2 ’94 be any different in 2011? Check out the extra images below and let us know what you think.

Nike Sportswear has offered white (perf) packs in each of the last two summers along with a variety of kicks that utilize the tablecloth-like gingham check pattern to signal sneakers made for summertime. So when you combine the two with a gum sole on one of the best loved silhouettes in history, you’ve got a recipe for a block party your friends will be talking about for years. Check out this new Nike Air Force 1 Low, a shoe that couldn’t be any more classically ‘summer’ if they were hung on a telephone wire overtop a gushing fire hydrant. White leather with a black Swoosh, those two colors on the gingham sockliner and a gum bottom combine to form the sneaker equivalent of a cool glass of lemonade and these simple pleasures will arrive at US NSW accounts soon; Swiss shoe spot Titolo just got theirs.

Over this past weekend, LeBron James debuted an all new colorway of the Nike LeBron 8 V/2 in White/Red/Yellow to match the Miami Heat Home uniforms. This PE debuted on the same night teammate Dwyane Wade sported an all new colorway of his shoe, the Air Jordan 2011. What makes this new Home PE different from the White/Sport Red V2? They do appear similar, but these new digs feature a white outsole, a red swoosh with a yellow border, a red Max Air unit, and a tonal red tongue. This makes four White/Red colorways of the LeBron 8 (China, Un-China, White/Sport Red V2, and now these), but these will likely not release. Check out the detailed images after the jump and let us know what you think of the colorway. via DJCK.

The ‘Eggplant’ craze has toned down a bit, but you might remember these, the ‘Eggplant’ Air Max 24/7 that Sneaker News gave you a first, exclusive look at in mid-late June of last year. Featuring a satin-y Foamposite-like upper with a black and silver trim, this Air Max 24/7 colorway sparked a lengthy debate regarding the use of the color. When you see these in person, any doubts will be erased because the matte finish of club purple on the upper is simply irresistible. The only thing that may hold you back: the ‘Eggplant’ Air Max 24/7 is a WMNS release! If you’re of the male species, remember to go 1.5 sizes up when you order them from Nikestore because they just became available right now.

May 7th, 2011. Millions will gather at homes and sports bars to witness one of the most talked-about boxing bouts in recent memory. Manny ‘PacMan’ Pacquiao, the fist-wielding fury from the Philippines, will face off against ‘Sugar’ Shane Mosley, the California-native and former WBA Welterweight Super Champion. Pacquiao’s been one of the faces of Nike Training over the last few years and rightfully so; his unparalleled work ethic has boosted him to the top of the boxing ranks and is considered to be the biggest name in the sport that has admittedly dropped in popularity due to the emergence of other fight-sports. The PacMan/Sugar fight will certainly draw attention back to boxing, and we’ll keep our eyes out for PacMan’s feet, because he could be wearing something special, like this Nike Zoom Huarache TR Low PE. The inspiration of PacMan’s Filipino heritage is made evident through the white/blue/red/gold upper colorway, with Pacquiao’s Nike logo on the bottom sole as well as the circular badge on the tongue. Many of PacMan’s Nike Trainers have been hits, and this one’s another knock-out in the making. Check out the extra images below and let us know what you think. via dynamitenter of NT.

Check out all the sneaker action over the last two nights in the NBA; starting on Monday, the Celtics and Knicks threw down again at the Garden, with Ray Allen wearing a Jordan Evolution ’85 PE, Paul Pierce wearing an Air Legacy 2 PE, and Carmelo Anthony wearing a new PE colorway of the Jordan Melo M7. Derrick Rose and the raging Bulls continued their winning ways, with their fearless leader wearing a new grey/red PE of the adidas adiRose 1.5. In that same game, Kings rookie DeMarcus Cousins wore a dazzling purple/metallic silver PE colorway of the Air Max Fly By. Last night featured just three games, one of which included the triple-OT thriller between the Suns and the Lakers. Channing Frye sported a new Zoom Kobe VI iD, Steve Nash was still rocking the Zoom Go Low, and Vince Carter wore an Air Max Hyperdunk 2010 PE. The Lakers’ Kobe Bryant wore the White/Black-Concord colorway of the Kobe VI. Another match-up worth noting was between the Wizards and Blazers; Gerald Wallace rocked the Bulls XIII while Washington’s Othyus Jeffers wore the Air Jordan 2011 in White/Black. Barring some absolutely bizarre circumstances over his Oklahoma City Thunder’s last 13 regular season games, Kevin Durant is set to capture his second consecutive NBA scoring title. And with Kobe Bryant not getting any younger plus each of the other four members of the current top five sharing a spot with one teammate, it’ll take an equally strange development (or maybe Monte Ellis shooting even more often) to see anything stand between KD and an MJ-like streak of PPG crowns. And while it’s premature to suggest his career arc is anything like Jordan’s, Durant is also enjoying the strongest year yet for his signature sneakers, a fact punctuated with an exclamation (or three) in the form in these new Nike Zoom KD III colorways. Two of the three make use of gradients along their side panels while the black pair goes for a carbon fiber inset, instead opting for an opalescent finish on the forefoot Flywire that has us wondering what other kinds of special sheens we could see come playoff time. Click through to get a better look at all three new colorways of the KD3 and grab yours today from NikeStore.
