Sneaker News March Madness OG Air Jordan Tournament Round 1 Winners Announced

We’re sure that there were many of you out there who didn’t agree with some of our seedings in our Sneaker News March Madness OG Air Jordan Tournament – and that’s fair enough being that this is all somewhat subjective. But we did take some time to really weigh things out in terms of determining power rankings, and from the looks at our first round results, it appears we were pretty close to the mark across the board according to your voting. Every Round 1 favorite advanced with the one exception being the 5-seed Air Jordan VI White/Infrared taking out the 4th-seeded Military Blue AJ IV. While Round 1 may not have provided many upsets, there were plenty of hard fought battles, and it’s only gonna get tougher from here on in. With almost all the lower seeds wiped out, every match-up should provide fairly evenly-matched competitors going to head to head with a trip to the Elite 8 on the line. Keep reading to check out the full Round 1 results, and check out Sneaker News HD for a better look at the updated bracket layout. Voting for the Sweet 16 round will kick off tomorrow night, so be sure to check back to get your votes in.

Nike Cortez x Air Max Sample

We’ve seen a Free-soled and Flywire-equipped update, but what would George Costanza think of the latest upgrade to his beloved Nike Cortez?  Check out this sample pair of Nike Cortez x Air Max runners, a combination of the beloved nylon and suede upper from the 1972 waffle-bottomed classic, paired with a pre-yellowed take on 1987′s Air Max 1 sole.  These are sort of like a quick history lesson in pre-1990s Nike running but will purists be willing to embrace Nike Sportswear’s latest hybrid creation?  Perhaps a more relevant question would be one regarding this model’s release, so be sure to stick with Sneaker News to see if the Nike Cortez x Air Max 1 ever hits store shelves.  via Far Away Life

Nike Zoom Huarache TR Low New Colorways

The Nike Zoom Huarache Low has some big shoes to fill; the Mid version that released in 2010 was a great follow-up to the original Nike Huarache Trainer and fulfilled its “destiny” as being a great multi-purpose shoe. Whether it’s in the gym, on the basketball court (see: Amar’e Stoudemire), or on the streets, the Huarache TR Mid was one of those rare strictly-performance sneakers that had great cross-over appeal. The Low version arrives just as the warmer months arrive, and the low-cut strapless version should definitely have Trainer fans excited. Five new colorways are to be expected –  the Black/White which had been previewed before and the White/Varsity Royal-Volt that was featured Sunday night. Nikestore will have all five colorways available soon (you can get the White/Wolf Grey now) so check out all five below.

Air Jordan VII Orion Blue Available @ Euro Retailers

European sneakerheads often see special releases of Nike retro runners, but given the relative status of the game compared to the United States, it’s somewhat rare to see a basketball sneaker hit the EU before the US.  But that’s exactly what’s happened with the Air Jordan VII Retro ‘Orion Blue’, an all-new colorway whose bright blue and Infrared accents are exactly the type of thing you’d expect to see from a ‘trainer’ circa 1992.  And coupled with a white leather base, this color combo makes for a perfect warm weather sneaker, one that’ll hit Stateside retailers this Saturday, March 26th.  But we Americans are notoriously impatient, so why wait this whole week, then wait in line, when you can grab a pair today from Swedish sneaker experts Caliroots, or get yours right now on eBay.

Nike WMNS Air Max 1 Peach Cream Team Orange

Last year Nike Sportswear released a Nike Air Max 1 in Orange Blaze, White, and Yellow, presumed to be a Holland-inspired colorway to release in conjunction with the World Cup. This new women’s colorway is quite similar to that year-old release, combining Team Orange, White, and a lady-like Peach Cream with matching laces. These undoubtedly have a softer look than the men’s version, but don’t deny the fact that you’ll be looking for these an extra 1.5 sizes up! Kickscrew has these April 2011 releases a tad early so hit ‘em up for a pair and let us know what you think of the colorway.

Air Jordan Fly Wade Infrared

Here’s a look at the ‘Infrared’ colorway of the Air Jordan Fly Wade, Dwyane Wade’s signature shoe model with Jordan Brand. Sneaker News previously showed you the Black/Varsity Red colorway of Wade’s new signature and called it a ‘Version 2′ or ‘Playoff’ version of the Air Jordan 2011, and Wade will likely debut these once the Playoffs begin. The new ‘Infrared’ colorway is blocked with white, black, and grey, and features the eye-catching Infrared tone on the inner lining, laces, outsole, and Dwyane Wade’s new logo that has been placed on the tongue. Although these are quite different from the Air Jordan 2011, they both share the unique traction on the outsole as well as the perforations on the upper. What’s new on the Jordan Fly Wade is the year-drop shaped visible Max Air and the visible plate on the midfoot, offering Wade the necessary support where he needs it the most. Air Jordan VII Retro Cardinal | New Images

Summertime is the perfect season to show off your kicks, and once June arrives, Jordan Brand will have some goodies waiting for you. One of the big-name Jordan Retros set for a June release is the Air Jordan VII in White/Cardinal Red-Black-Bronze; this is an original colorway of the Air Jordan VII when it debuted in 1992 (Mike dazzled us during the All-Star Game of that year while rocking the Bordeaux colorway) and trampled the league in the Cardinals for the first half of the ’92-’93 season. Jordan Brand retroed this colorway back in 2006, but it’s about time we got some fresh pairs! These new images from Marqueesole should make the decision easy for you, so give them a quick look and grab a pair early from eBay.
