The Nike Air Griffey Max II is certainly one of the headlining Nike Retros of 2011, and with good reason. The alarming success of the Nike Air Griffey Max 1 has created a new sub-genre within the Nike Retro wing of Beaverton, OR, with a number of gotta-have-’em colorways like the original Freshwater, upcoming second Freshwater, and eye-catching Volt colorways doing the trick. The Griffey Max II will be just another reason to extend that Griffey collection, and the OG Freshwater will be front and center when these release next month. We already hooked you up with a release date for these (April 23rd, if you needed a reminder), but check out this new batch of pleasing images and let us know how badly you want ‘em! via FLUL.

Packer Shoes and Reebok have been absolutely killing it with the collabs for the last year or two and this latest creation is certainly no exception. This time graffiti/art world legend, Stash, joins in on the fun, applying his familiar color scheme to the Reebok Pump Graphlite, complete with waterproof materials and Packer/Stash co-branding on the heels. Only 289 numbered pairs will be up for grabs this Thursday, March 31st with a special in-store launch event at Packer Shoes. As you may have guessed, Stash himself will be on hand to meet with fans and sign shoes, boxes, magazines and more. Those who buy a pair of the Pumps at the release event will be treated to a special MIZU bottle featuring a cool Packer logo done in the Reebok font, as well as a limited quantity of SNKR FRKR issue 20 and a limited edition Stash x SF poster while supplies last. If you can’t make it over to the in-store launch, don’t worry – a limited number of the shoes will also be available for purchase through the Packer Shoes online micro-site. If you are in the area, festivities will begin at 6:30 pm, so come out to meet Stash and pick up your pair of the Packer Shoes x Reebok Pump Graphlite.

Without a doubt, when most (male) sneakerheads will be thinking that the ‘Liberty Dunks’ have already dropped, and while Nike SB’s abrasion-friendly Statue hightops are definitely one of 2011′s more creative releases, don’t forget about the ‘other’ Liberties. Nike Sportswear and Liberty of London are back at it again with a range of ladies sneakers wide enough that if you only focus on the Dunks you’ll be just as far off as only noticing the SBs. And we knew the pack also included Air Force 1 Lows and Blazer Lows and Mids, but now we have the first shots of Liberty x Nike Air Max 90s and can’t help but wonder if other NSW classics could be on the way. Click through to see some new shots of this floral-themed Air Max 90 collaboration and stick with Sneaker News for updates — some pairs are set for exclusive release at Liberty on April 1st with the rest following at wider Nike Sportswear accounts on the first of May. via SF

The Nike Air Python was one of the few Nike Basketball sneakers that added a bit of lux flair. Most of the shoes of that era featured bulky construction that fell in line with the ‘Force’ and slimmer, jet-like motifs with ‘Flight’. The Air Python was in a category of its own, with an ultra-sexy snake-skin upper paired with the smooth white leather. Sneaker News last showed you an original pair of the Nike Air Python in July of 2010, and while many of our readers weren’t familiar with the shoe, they were certainly surprised that a sneaker like this was ever created. It shares a lot of design elements with the Air Jordan II, but it was named ‘Python’ for a reason; the snakeskin upper is definitely like no other in the Nike Basketball catalog, and with Nike boosting it’s wildlife awareness, we probably won’t see a shoe like this in a very long time, if at all. SKIT, a sneaker shop out in Japan, dug these out of the closet and put them up for sale, so take a look at this vintage item below and let us know what you think.

Nike Sportswear recently released the Nike Air Griffey Max 1 in a Sport Red-based colorway, one that has led to a ‘Cincinnati Reds’ nickname. Here’s a look at an upcoming Air Max JR that’ll have you seeing red in more ways than one; featuring a nearly-complete tonal-red package, this upcoming Air Max JR features white accents on the swoosh at the forefoot, the Swingman logo on the heel, and other minute accents on the lace-hoops and swoosh-branding on the heel-tab. Another interesting detail is that this particular pair features a nylon material on the upper opposed to the lightweight Torch used in the other releases. The visual magnitude of this tonal colorway might be too much to handle at once, but we’ve got another angle for you to bask in after the jump. Take a look and let us know what you think of this upcoming colorway. via axgilbert.

Wiz Khalifa and his girlfriend, Amber Rose, attended the “Roll One With Wiz Khalifa Bowling Party” at the Chelsea Piers in New York City last night that was presented by Power 105.1. Wiz proved that he’s a loyal “Taylor Gang” member by rocking a pair of Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Lows in Navy and White. Amber Rose was spotted in a pair of matching Chuck’s with the only difference being that her pair was in Black and White. Khalifa’s album, Rolling Papers, is out today and features appearances from a number of different artists including Too Short, Curren$y, and more.

When Sneaker News first showed you the Nike WMNS Pocket Runner a little over a week ago, the collapsible design was itself fairly remarkable, but little did we know there’s a pack on the way to further accentuate its outrageous design. Here’s a look at three new Pocket Runner Quickstrikes, appropriately dubbed the ‘Animal Pack’ for the trio’s use of horsehair on their lightweight uppers. You can choose a black pair that will draw double-takes as people try to decide if that really is an wild material on your feet or just some kind of crazy satiny shine, or go with the more overt zebra and leopard pairs. Click through for close-ups of all three and expect them at select US NSW accounts soon; they just hit a few shops in SE Asia. via Warped

All is well in New York today as the Knicks finally got over the hump by avoiding their sixth straight loss with a win over Eastern Conference rivals, the Orlando Magic. There was plenty of star power in the building to witness Carmelo in his best performance as a Knick, which helped the Knicks to a much-needed win. MSG-regular Tracy Morgan was on hand, sitting courtside next to his manager and Fat Joe, and the comedian-turned-actor definitely brought out some heat to wear during the game as he wore a pair of the Nike ‘Year of the Rabbit’ Air Force 1 Low Supremes, an early-2011 release that was a huge success worldwide. Tracy Morgan’s sneaker sighting also happens to be the first time we’ve spotted a celebrity wearing these beautiful Air Force 1′s, so continue reading for a detailed look of Tracy Morgan and his Year of the Rabbit Air Force 1′s and let us know what you think.

We see plenty of Air Max retros from Nike Sportswear and they’ve even started to expand the offerings into some of the cult classics of yore, but let’s not forget about this model that’s served the game so well over these past six decades. The Nike Cortez debuted in 1968 and has been featured prominently in ’90s mega-hits Forrest Gump and as George Costanza’s sneakers of choice on Seinfeld, and these two new editions bring back the classic suede and nylon sneaker purists have loved for so long. The navy/gold joints have a timeless feel with a brown/pink edition standing out as the more adventurous look. Click through for more of both pairs and stick with Sneaker News for word on the US release date. via Dunk.

Yesterday Sneaker News gave you a first look at the Nike LeBron 8 V/2 Low, and as expected, they were a bonafide crowdpleaser. The vibrant colorway of a crisp blue, electric volt, and white was the perfect first look at the upcoming LeBron shoe, and some have gone as far as dubbing these the ‘Sprite’ colorway, alluding to previous collaborations between Nike LeBron shoes and the lemon-lime soft drink label. This second viewing offers a close-up of the midsole, made up of a white upper layer and tonal Volt Max Air unit, as well as the bottom sole, which features a mix of volt, blue, and black. The detail that garnered the most attention was the overall cut of the shoe, was was more of a ‘Mid’ than a traditional ‘Low’. These are set to debut this Fall 2011 season alongside a number of other colorways, and we foresee the LeBron 8 V/2 Low to be one of the biggest hits of the year. Check out the extra shots below and stick with Sneaker News for more details. via tsina.
