‘Cool Grey’ has been an ongoing theme with sneakers since the late-2010 release of the Air Jordan XI ‘Cool Grey’. The ‘Cool Grey’ moniker was quick to catch on with this upcoming Nike Zoom Kobe VI colorway, but this one’s actually Metallic Silver, similar to the Nike LeBron 8 V/2 Low that’s set for a release in the coming months. The upper is a tonal metallic silver with a white swoosh, with the midsole adopting the same color combination. These are similar to the Zoom Kobe V TB release from 2010 as well. The Air Jordan III is making a huge footprint in 2011, with the release of the OG White/Cement and True Blue, the luxurious Black History Month Edition of February, the confirmed release of the Black/Cement later this year, and this new ‘Stealth’ variety. Set for a September 2011 debut, the Air Jordan III ‘Stealth’ should be a hot selection for the back-to-school season. It appears that these will come packaged in a the OG-inspired elephant print box, contrary to what we showed you last time. Black faux denim returns on the Air Max 90 once again. After last year’s Air Attack Pack release and the recent trio of canvas/faux-denim uppered Air Max 90 releases, Nike Sportswear hits the AM90 with the clean material once more, pairing it with flat synthetic leather and nubuck on the upper. The colorway features black with a duet of grey tones set off by a bright green accent on the outsole, Max Air unit, and Nike Air branding. The Nike LunarEclipse+ debuted in 2010 and became an instant eye-catcher, with some viewers calling it the best Nike Lunar shoe to date. That’s quite a relief, because the LunarEclipse is priced considerably higher than other Lunar running shoes (the widely popular LunarGlide+ 2 is $30 less), and some might think $130 might be just a bit too much for a Nike Lunar running shoe. For one, it’s one of the most comfortable Nike running shoes ever created. Two, the design is specifically engineered to pair with the supremely comfortable LunarLite cushioning and to reduce weight where unnecessary. This new colorway combines a deep Obsidian tone with vibrant splashes of Chlorine Blue on the Flywire panel and portions of the inner lining, with a white swoosh on the outer heel. We’ve seen several tonal colorways applied to the adidas Originals ZX 8000, perhaps none as memorable as Undefeated’s safety orange contribution to 2008′s adidas Consortium AZX Project.  And while this latest model isn’t credited to any outside designer, the tonal black in-house design is of a similarly high quality.  It starts with the rich premium leather and select touches of supple suede and extends into the generally upscale feel from mint green accents applied to such a clean base.  If you want to see more shots, click through for about a dozen more photos and stick with Sneaker News for updates on this July release. via HS.

For a brand that shuns hype to the extent that they’ve never signed a marquee athlete to endorse their products, New Balance sure has a ton of Japanese collaborative partners.  Their latest tag team effort brings in United Arrows’ Green Label Relaxing brand on a pair of New Balance CM670GLs.  These joints are classic NB material with a dark navy blue ‘N’ adding jsut a hint of color to the otherwise grey/white/black design.  It’s a perfect blend of classic New Balance style and premium green label relaxing sensibilities so what better way to finish off the project than with a simple co-branded insole.  Click through to see more you’ll be able to find them at select Japanese retailers starting in June.

When you first gaze upon the Air Jordan Phase 23 Hoops midtop, you see some familiar design elements.  These joints feature a streaky graphic on their rear a la Air Jordan VIII but the eyelet wing itself where you find this splash of color is closer to the AJ7.  Move forward to the side panels to see moire-style perforations like the Air Jordan 2010 Team and if you keep going you get the forefoot strap most recently seen on the Jordan BCT.  So how, then, does the Phase 23 Hoops have all these characteristics and yet totally avoid looking like a hybrid?  Chalk it up to design magic, and a trio of solid colorways certainly doesn’t hurt, each of these three set to drop soon at select Jordan Brand retailers as part of the May 2011 footwear collection.
