Kobe Bryant’s Los Angeles Lakers are now pretty well locked into the Western Conference’s 2nd seed for the upcoming 2011 playoffs, so it seems fitting that we’d see two new Nike Zoom Kobe VIs in white, black and yellow hit retailers this month.  The above pictured pair is one of those rare cases where they’re the lighter but not brighter of a duo, their white and grey base considerably calmer than the Lightbulb and Del Sol edition, yet they still find space for the latter of those yellow shades on this expertly blocked release.  Click through to get a better look at a shoe once thought to be the POP Zoom Kobe VI (*Kobe and crew have already been spotted wearing them in our NBA Feet feature) and grab a pair today from NikeStore and also on eBay.

asktinker video series summary askTinker Video Series

Tinker Hatfield recently made a visit to Sole Fly in Miami for ‘askTinker‘, a Q&A session with the greatest performance footwear designer of all time. There’s a lot to learn from someone who basically laid the blueprint for the entire sneaker game, and the attendees most certainly left with a bit of extra Nike and Jordan Brand history known to just a few. Tinker starts off by showing off the new Jordan Trainer shoe – the Jordan BCT Low, and then delves a bit further into Nike and Jordan Brand timeline and history. For those of you who were unable to attend the event, Sneaker Box Clyde has the entire askTinker session up on video, so continue reading to catch the entire three-part series and be prepared to take some notes!

air jordan 7 retro cardinal 1 570x427 Air Jordan 7 Retro Cardinal New Images

Albert Pujols is conspicuous by his absence atop the early season National League batting statistics charts and his St. Louis teammates have stumbled out of the gate, but we know that at least one Cardinal will be around come playoff time.  Ok, so we’re actually talking about the NBA Playoffs, but no one would argue against the Air Jordan VII Retro ‘Cardinal’ topping the list for highly anticipated summer sneakers.  These joints offer a bold alternative to the other white kicks we’ve seen for the warm months, their Cardinal Red, black and Bronze accents also a nice twist on the classic ‘Bred’ palette.  Click through to get a look at some new images and stick with Sneaker News for updates on this June 18th release.  via in52

Air Jordan XI IE Low Retro – Black – White – Varsity Red – New Images

Air jordan retro 11 low Air Jordan XI IE Low Retro Black White Varsity Red New Images
Only Tim Donaghy would think it’s fair that the only Air Jordan XI IE Lows we’d seen since the 1996 originals were a referee sample detailed here on Sneaker News last summer, so luckily Jordan Brand is keeping things on the up and up by offering a couple lowtop Elevens this year.  Check out the ‘Bred’ AJXI I.E. Low, a colorway true to the OGs save their use of a different shade on the ever popular translucent outsole.  It’s more smokey than icey on these as ‘clear black’ = partially see-thru grey, and it’s a welcome alteration that keeps these feeling fresh fifteen years after they were first issued.  Click through to get a better look at this Fall 2011 release and if you wanna grab yours earlier to make your friends jealous, check out SneakerHotline.

Nike Air Trainer SC II High – Black – Varsity Red | Available @ Nikestore

nike air trainer sc ii high black varsity red nikestore 06 Nike Air Trainer SC II High Black Varsity Red | Available @ Nikestore

The Nike Air Trainer SC II High might be a Retro release, but it’s a sneaker that was designed way ahead of its time. It featured tensile wire-enhanced panels (think of it like an earlier-generation Flywire), a forefoot strap for added stability, and unique double-layer ankle cushioning that provided all that was necessary for all-purpose training. This new Black/Varsity Red colorway accentuates the funky and aggressive design, with splashed of Varsity Red on just the right places, with a contrasting white on the midsole and laces. Nikestore just made these available so take a look at the new images below and head there to get your pair, or grab a pair on eBay.

fragment design undercover nike match classic summer 2011 1 570x381 fragment design x UNDERCOVER x Nike Match Classic Spring/Summer 2011

When Pine Green and Max Orange pairs of the Nike Zoom Match Classic appeared in mid-March, we remarked how they resembled a couple of the UNDERCOVER x fragment design collabo pairs from 2010.  Maybe they heard us cos today brings word that Jun Takahashi and Hiroshi Fujiwara have again come together on a pair of this clean lowtop design, this time in two of the ‘coolest’ colorways we’ve seen from this model yet.  The fragment design x UNDERCOVER x Nike Match Classic is back in the Soft Grey and Ocean Fog shades that could also make quite a nice look together, each pair offering a simple black embroidered Swoosh and the two Japanese brand’s insignias along the seismically-striped midsoles.  Click through to get a better look and let us know what you think and be sure to stick with Sneaker News for word on what’s likely to be a very limited release here in the States.  via CT
