Nike Air Maxim 1+ Blue Spark + Velvet Brown

Five Nike Air Maxim 1+ pairs achieved a tonal look by applying a single shade to the various materials on their Air Attack Pack uppers early last year and this new release serves as something of a reprisal of those simply satisfying designs.  But the tonal effect on this latest duo of Air Maxim 1s is stronger, particularly the blue edition where suede framing Flywire makes for the perfect anachronistic meta-statement about this hybrid model.  Click through to get better views of both pairs and stick with Sneaker News for word on the US release; Nike Harajuku in Tokyo just got theirs.

Nike SB May 2011 Footwear Releases

The month of April was quite an eventful one for Nike SB, starting with the cancellation of the Cheech & Chong release, the release delay/confusion with the White/Black Zoom Janoski Mid, and the debate and discussion surrounding the Nike SB Dunk Low ‘Space Jam’. Let’s leave all that controversy behind us and look at the May 2011 releases from Nike SB: a new colorway of the Janoski Mid in Cappuccino/Black and a P-Rod 2.5 inspired by the Nike SB Dunk Low ‘Cali’. Not included in this grouping is in fact the Space Jam SB Dunk Low and the Aqua/Skeletor SB Dunk Low, but you can expect those next month as well. Check out the May 2011 roll-out below and stick with Sneaker News for more Nike SB release information as it develops.

Super Mario Bros. x Converse Chuck Taylor High

If you’re old enough to remember being excited to shop at a K-Mart, you might recall that back in the day, sneakers with video game characters and insignias weren’t exactly the biggest status items.  But as the gaming industry and sneaker culture have both grown in sophistication since the 1980s, the collaborations that have come our way are on par with many of the best from artists and fashion insiders.  And so the Super Mario Brothers x Converse Chuck Taylor All Star manages a much higher cool factor than those old velcro getups but they stay true to the old school by sporting an 8-bit OG Mario on a choice of black or white canvas.  We’ve seen some impressive sneakers from Nintendo in recent years, particularly the Wii-inspired editions, so how do these compare?  Click through to see more and stick with Sneaker News to see if the US release date coincides with the July Japan drop.  via SM

Nike SB P Rod 2.5 Gucci

It’s a colorway we’ve seen on countless models from basically every brand out there, but it’s hard to deny that most good designs are enhanced by a Gucci-style colorway.  Check out the Nike SB P-Rod 2.5 in a blacked-out base with all kinds of double-G nods.  Everything from the accent shades to the dual-toned laces and diamond pattern that typified the OG P-Rod II’s side panels can be seen as inspired by the famous Italian fashion house.  And with Streething reporting they’re popping up available in Singapore by the end of next week, you know they’ll be hitting select US retailers soon.

Nike SB Zoom Stefan Janoski Jetstream Brickhouse Red | August 2011

Sneaker News brings you a look at yet another Nike SB Zoom Stefan Janoski, this time in the original low version, but in a clean colorway combination of Jetstream and Brickhouse Red. The upper features a Jetstream beige tone in suede paired with Brickhouse Red on the tongue label, boat-shoe style laces, and midsole rim. The inner lining is finished in black for an acute match with the contrast stitching on the toe. Not long ago we showed you a Holiday 2011 release of the Janoski Mid, featuring a rugged yet sleek Waterproof upper, a surefire distinction from this ‘preppy’ pair. Which do you prefer? Another image awaits you below so take a look and let us know what you think, and look out for these at Nike SB retailers this August. via SJanoski.

Air Jordan VII Year of the Rabbit Hitting US Retailers Here’s one that seemed slightly puzzling when it was first previewed after the traditional Chinese New Year releases had dropped around the holiday.  But there was no confusion about the Air Jordan VII Retro ‘Year of the Rabbit’ making a splash on the sneakerhead set when it brought a grown-up approach to the classic ‘Hare’ colorway.  We’ve just seen the Zoom KDIII and Blazer CS capitalize on the success of the amazing Air Force 1 Supreme, so where does this AJ7 rank amongst the YOTR releases?  The likely swifts sales when they hit retailers like RPS on May 7th will be a good indication and if you want to avoid the inevitable rush, check out the pairs we found available early on eBay.

Beauty & Youth x New Balance WRC574

Japanese clothing label Beauty & Youth have had their hands in several sneaker collaborations over the past few years and this latest model instantly ranks among the most eye-catching.  The B&Y x New Balance WRC574 features a fairly subdued colorway on paper, but gold patent leather sections on the side panels give these a sparkle beyond any of the earlier models.  This is one of those Japanese exclusive collabos that only the trendiest girl you know is gonna get her hands on, so click through to see more images and stick with Sneaker News for the latest New Balance collaborations.  via United Arrows.

adidas Originals MEGA Softcell RL Electricity Grey

It’s only right that the adidas MEGA Collection release a suitably large variety of colorways for each model, so we’re glad to see this new adidas Originals MEGA Softcell RL hit soon after the other pair recently profiled here on Sneaker News.  These neon Softcell RLs are quite a bit more energetic than their black/yellow counterparts, select grey accents including the tongue, reflective piping and midsole adding just enough balance to make these wearable.  Click through to see more angles and look for them at select adidas Originals retailers like TGWO.

LIVESTRONG x Nike LunarSwift+ 2

No, that’s not the LIVESTRONG answer to the recently revealed Leopard Air Footscape Woven Motion, but it is definitely a model with LAF implications.  This new LIVESTRONG x Nike Lunarswift+ 2 has the vague look of wild animal print thanks to the super-lightweight and breathable upper being comprised of layers of black and yellow.  The massively ventilated design might remind you of the Marc Newson-designed Nike Zvezdochka that appeared as part of the ‘Stages’ collaboration from 2009, but these shuld be a bit easier to get your hands on.  Click through for more images and then grab your LIVESTRONG LunarSwift 2 from NikeStore.

Nike SB Dunk Low Midwest Gold Black | Sample on eBay

The growing frequency of unreleased SB Dunk samples hitting online auction sites has us wondering just how many more unreleased colorways there truly are. We recently showed you the ‘Distressed’ SB Dunks and the rumored ‘Purple Haze’ High (2009 4/20 release), but here’s a look at the Midwest Gold/Black colorway that was first previewed on Sneaker News in late 2009. It features a simple colorway of Red, Gold, and Black on the upper with a purple heel-tab and a solid black outsole. The thin tongue dates these as a 2009 release, until Nike SB shelved them for good. Slap ‘em with a fat tongue and re-release, or a forgotten memory? Check out these new images below and if you’d like a pair, grab this rare size 9 sample (just one of twenty-four exist) from johnnyc2oo on eBay.
