The Big Nike High was one of the many Nike Basketball sneakers that released in 1986, falling along the lines of the Nike Dynasty, Convention, Legend, etc. and released in a number of forms – the High, the 3/4, the Low, and the Pro. Nike Sportswear re-released the Big Nike High just a couple of years ago, although it didn’t really grasp the wide popularity of other mid-80′s Nike Basketball sneakers like the Dunk and Terminator, but we did see some interesting releases like the Kobe Bryant ‘Kill Bill’ version and the ‘Wolverine’ Quickstrike. Here’s a look at an OG pair of the Big Nike High in a plain White/Royal Blue colorway; it’s in astounding shape considering the age of these vintage kicks (thanks to the high quality leather), and although these are unwearable, these would be a great display piece if you’ve got a nice Nike shrine in your pad. Check out the extra images after the jump and pick up this rare gem from flosa213 on eBay.

Either a display of homage or an indirect way to rub it in their faces, Jordan Brand came up with a new colorway of the Air Jordan VI using the Los Angeles Lakers as the basis for the colorway. it featured a black nubuck and 3M reflective upper with a purple/yellow gradient contrast stitching on the upper for that LA appeal. Here’s a look at what could’ve been; this unreleased sample of the Air Jordan VI ‘Lakers’ features a full-nubuck upper with a solid yellow ‘AIR’ on the heel (the released version has alternating colors) and a white outsole (released version is black). If you missed the last opportunity to cop these, now’s your chance because theyare once again available from cigar0330 on eBay.

Many of our readers weren’t around when the Sky Force was first released, so Nike Sportswear is taken a concerted effort in educating the younger generation by re-releasing one of the more popular Nike Force basketball shoes of the late 80′s. These three seemingly pro-sports team uniform inspired colorways would defintely be hits in certain regions – the Blue/Orange a nice pick for Mets or Knicks fans, the Green/Yellow for Oaklandites, or the Black/White for Spurs or White Sox fans. There are plenty more colorways coming soon in Low-top form, so check out all three upcoming colorways after the jump and watch for these to hit Nike Sportswear retailers soon as they’ve already popped up at overseas retailers like Step.

The recent retros of the Nike Air Griffey Max 1 were well received and highly praised by the sneaker community and Griffey enthusiasts who longed for a reissue of the slugger’s first signature shoe with Nike. The Nike Air Griffey Max 1 Black/Freshwater will be retroed this summer for the time and from the responses we’ve received, this colorway is highly anticipated and if its anything like the White/Black-Freshwater pair these are sure to fly off the shelves fast. The Black/Freshwater colorway is one of the original Air Griffey Max 1 releases and from the latest images, it appears that Nike did this retro the justice it deserves. Check out the additional images via Osneaker after the jump and stick with us for more info as the release date approaches.

UPDATE: There’s been a bit of confusion on the color for this pair of Air Griffey Max 1, we’ll clear up the confusion asap.
UPDATE 2: The official word from Nike. We have confirmed with Nike that the upcoming Nike Air Griffey Max 1 is in fact officially called “Freshwater”. The original colorway was Deep Emerald. Nike also confirms that Deep Emerald and Freshwater are nearly identical so officially these are Freshwater but calling them Deep Emerald can also be correct.

The Nike Air Max Flight ’11 debuted just around the beginning of the 2011 NBA Playoffs in a nice capsule of NBA PE colorways, which included top-flight guards Brandon Roy, Steph Curry, and Russell Westbrook. If LeBron James was included in that group, here’s what a ‘Dunkman’ version might look like. This not-yet-released sample features a mix of grey, white, black, and vibrant neon green for a truly Dunkman-esque motif, seen on this year’s release of the Nike LeBron 8 P.S.’Dunkman’. This version is indeed a sample so a release is indeterminable at this point, but cross your fingers for a release later this year, or pick up this size 9 sample from oregonsole on eBay.

One of the most talked-about releases from Nike SB in 2011 is the Nike SB Dunk Low in the Space Jam-inspired colorway. Originally slated to be a May release, the ‘Space Jam’ SB Dunk Low has garnered considerable attention and anticipation since other Air Jordan-inspired SB Dunk releases have done quite well (Supreme x Nike SB Dunk Low, which was inspired by the Air Jordan III). Bun B even modeled one of his Nike Air Force 1 Bespokes after the Space Jam, using nearly identical color-blocking and materials seen on this release, which will be a lot easier on the wallet than the $820 price-tag on the custom Air Force 1s. A release date in July is what’s been heard in Nike SB circles, but you can grab a pair early right now from bb9753 on eBay.

The last time Sneaker News showed you a pair of Dirk Nowitzki’s Nike Hyperdunk 2010 PEs, we speculated that his Dallas Mavericks might be a dark horse contender heading into the NBA Playoffs. It was more wild conjecture than a real prediction, but sure enough, the Mavericks did indeed surprise the world and earn a rematch of the 2006 Finals vs. Miami. And though it’s tough to say which team has the edge going into what’s sure to be a very highly-rated series, we can expect more brilliance from Dirk just like he can always count on Nike Basketball‘s Hyperdunk 2010 to give him just enough lift on that unstoppable fallaway. This latest Nowitzki player exclusive Hyperdunk 2011 adds a bunch more blue when compared to the earlier model, and you can see more images when you click on the jump below.

One of the more curious releases from Jordan Brand is the Air Jordan 1 ‘Banned’ edition – a playful rehashing of the original Air Jordan 1 that caused controversy in the NBA and in the world of sneakers. What makes this release all the more strange is that these were first dropped at Nike Factory Stores before any word of a general release, which, based on the funky timeline, is likely to not happen. Remember that the first Air Jordan 1 ‘Banned’ sample was previewed on Sneaker News nearly a year ago featured a black ‘X’ over all the logos, so it’s possible that the ones you see here – the version that mysteriously popped out at Nike outlet stores – was in fact the version set for a general release. In the end, it’s no surprise that these stirred up some controversy again, and thanks to Osneaker, we get yet another look at the Banned 1s. If you haven’t picked up a pair just yet or won’t be near a Nike outlet (they’re scheduled to hit again), cop a pair now on eBay.

The Nike Hyperdunk 2010 was unveiled in grand fashion during last year’s World Basketball Festival, a joint effort among Nike, Jordan Brand, and Converse Basketball that celebrated the global reach of the game of basketball. After the immense success of the original Nike Hyperdunk, there were big expectations for the sequel to what many call one of the best basketball shoes ever created, and although the Hyperdunk 2010 was a worthy successor, it didn’t garner the ‘hype’ like the original, largely because the shoe wasn’t exactly tied to a specific player. For example, the OG Hyperdunk was considered Kobe Bryant’s unofficial signature shoe, as we saw him jump over a speeding Aston Martin while wearing the shoe. For the Hyperdunk 2011, Nike has appointed budding superstar Blake Griffin as the unofficial spokesperson, and if he continues the never-ending highlight reel from this past season, we expect the Hyperdunk 2011 to garner as much attention as the Clippers star. Check out the images of this new TB colorway of black, red, and white below (with a great close-up look at the details) and let us know which Hyperdunk design you like best. via ULT.

From the Valentine’s Day ‘Amor’ edition to the recent collaboration with Liberty of London, 2011 has been a strong year for womens’ Nike Air Force 1 Lows. Look for that to continue with this trio of new colorways that all share a simple yet downright satisfying construction. Each of these three new Air Force 1 for ladies comes with a white leather upper that’s accented by patent leather on the Swooshes and heel tabs. That same shade carries over to the tongue tag and translucent sole for a crisp template that looks great with Solar Red, High Voltage or Bold Berry, and you can see more images of all three after the jump. via Step

With Eric Koston’s first Nike SB signature sneaker and the crazy Kobe Bryant collabo are getting a ton of attention at the moment, you may have forgotten about the other Swoosh skateboarding shoe to which Koston was attached. But just look back in the history books (or read through the Sneaker News archives) and you’ll find that Koston was the man of the hour when the “Technical without all the bells and whistles,” Nike SB Zoom FP hit retailers late last year. Most of the colorways since then have been dark but here’s a new Future Primitive that looks dope in a mix of white and gold with a stripe on the forefoot midsole to suggest gum rubber. Another great white summer sneaker alternative, you can find these at select Nike SB retailers like Goods.
