Celebrity Feet: Lil Wayne Nike SB Dunk Mid Mama Bear

Lil’ Wayne, who earlier this January stated that he felt ‘snubbed’ by Miami Heat superstars LeBron James and Dwyane Wade, sat courtside during Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals between the Chicago Bulls and Miami Heat. The ‘snubbing’ might’ve been justified, as Lil’ Wayne was rooting for the Heat opponent during that January game (the New Orleans Hornets), and it appears that fences still aren’t mended because the formerly incarcerated hip-hop star was seen wearing a Los Angeles Lakers cap. The rest of Lil’ Wayne’s outfit caught our attention as well, as he matched a grey/pink Billionaire Boys Club t-shirt and digi-camo shorts with a pair of the Nike SB Dunk Mid ‘Mama Bear’ – the middle pair of the Nike SB Dunk ‘Three Bears Pack’. Check out Lil’ Wayne and his companion after the jump and let us know what you think of Wayne’s outfit. via Yahoo!.

adidas adiZero Crazy Light vs The Other Guys

Back in the late ’80s and early ’90s, Nike and Reebok went head to head to determine who would control the basketball sneaker market for what has turned out to be nearly two decades.  Nike had Michael Jordan, but they went so far as to more or less copy the ever popular Reebok Pump with the Air Pressure, leading the Vector brand to respond that fans should make the decision to ‘Pump Up and Air Out’.  We hadn’t seen any such oppositional marketing since then, but with adidas purchasing Reebok outright in 2005 to unite as the world’s second largest athletic brand, you just knew that wouldn’t be the end.  So here’s the newest example of brand warfare, a literal assault on the Nike Hyperdunk 2010 courtesy of adidas Basketball’s aptly named 9.8oz banger, the Crazy Light.

The Crazy Light is shown to be levitating thanks to its featherlight construction, whereas it takes getting samurai chopped to get the Hyperdunk 2010 down to a similar weight.  A striking image, to be sure, but is being lighter than your competitor by the weight of their lateral toe really a huge advantage?  Could ads like this draw attention to the aggressor as underdog and thereby give unintended attention to the competitor?  And if you’ve worn a pair, is the adidas adiZero Crazy Light really better on court than the Hyperdunk 2010?  Click through to see the ad in its entirety and be sure to leave a comment to let us know what you think of this approach to advertising.

Air Jordan 2.0 Black Red Green New Images

Just yesterday, Sneaker News gave you a viewing of the first Air Jordan 2.0 in grade school sizes, and today we have word that this bold new colorway will also release in men’s.  This AJ2.0 has a bit of a festive feel thanks to a colorway that’s somewhere in between bred, Cinco de Mayo and Christmas, but you might also call to mind images of the Black History Month Air Force 1s from 2009 and ’10.  Interestingly enough, they’re not timed to meet up with any of these so we’ll just appreciate the palette for what it is, and you can see more images when you click on the jump below.  Let us know what you think and if you want to get yours early hit up eBay regular Air-Randy, who’s selling US mens sizes 8-12 through Facebook.

NBA Feet: 2011 Playoffs Bulls vs. Heat Game 4 Recap

After losing the opening game of the series, the Miami Heat have been scorching hot and rolling on all cylinders, receiving elite-level contribution from each of the Big Three when needed the most. Wade, LeBron, and Bosh are proving that three superstars can co-exist, because they’re just one win away from an NBA Finals appearance – Miami’s first since winning the title in 2006. LeBron James once again sported the LeBron 8 P.S. Home PE, which features a red midsole and yellow speckling, and Dwyane Wade wore his own Home PE of the Jordan Fly Wade. Mike Miller, who provided some clutch buckets down the stretch, wore the Air Max 360 BB Low in white. Chicago had a chance at victory, but Derrick Rose fell short on two key last-second jumpers as he was guarded heavily by LeBron James. Rose wore the adidas adiRose 1.5 (no Crazy Light?) and Carlos Boozer wore the White/Black/Red PE of the Hyperdunk 2010 with colorblocking reminscent of the Nike Air Force 1 ‘Scarface’ that released half a decade ago. We’ve got a full recap of Game 4 below so take a look and let us know if you think Miami will close it out in Game 5. via Yahoo!.

Michael Jordan Donates OG Air Jordan 1 Sample to JB Archive

The man who started the Jordan Brand legacy just strengthened the foundation for future generations by donating an OG sample pair of the Air Jordan 1 to the Jordan Brand archive. What makes this donation particularly special is that it came from Michael’s personal collection, one that is believed to be thousands deep in OG colorways and never-before-seen PEs and special editions made just for him. The Air Jordan 1 has been a hot topic on Sneaker News lately, with the ‘Banned’ Air Jordan 1 hitting Nike Factory Stores and the discovery of the OG Air Jordan 1 ‘Strap’ that Michael wore during the Playoffs against the Celtics, but here’s a look at its original, untouched, un-banned form straight from the hands of MJ himself. What else do you think Michael’s got in his sneaker closet? Let us know what you think.

Air Jordan V Retro Black Metallic Silver Varsity Red | New Images

Just how good was Michael during the 1989-90 NBA Season? He was the leading scorer for the entire post-season (despite not making the Finals), and many experts say that the ’90 season should’ve been Michael’s first championship. The Air Jordan V Black/Metallic Silver doesn’t fall in the legendary era of championship-winning MJ, but it’s still considered one of the best Air Jordan designs of all time. There was nothing else like it at the time, and over twenty years after its original debut, it still maintains the timeless luxury that it first expressed upon its original release. We’ve got a great opportunity to cop a pair of the OG colorway this August, so check out these new detailed images below courtesy of RMK and let us know if these are a must-have for you. In fact, cop a pair early right now on eBay.

Nike Air Trainer Max 97 Holiday 2011

The Nike Trainer 1 is a well known classic and enjoyed quite a welcome upon being resurrected in 2009.  This release signaled a rejuvenation in the Nike Training series and plenty of retros from Nike Sportswear, but this model had been totally omitted until now.  The Nike Air Trainer Max ’97 comes through with styling that’s somewhere between Charles Barkley and Ken Griffey Jr’s signature sneakers around that time, with a dash of Air Max 95 thrown in for good measure.  Two colorways are slated to hit retailers in Q4 and you can see more images when you click on the jump below.  via TSG

MAX100 Book Project

“I want to create a high-end art book of a hundred visual interpretations of the greatest sneaker of all time.”

Each of us has their own corresponding model, but when artist Matt Stevens said that in discussing his latest project, he was referring to the Nike Air Max 1.  1987′s flagship runner has seen well more than a hundred colorways over the past quarter-century, but Matt might very well have the stuff it takes to work as a Nike Sportswear designer.  His takes on the AM1 range from NYC taxi-themed to something better suited to art than wearing like stained glass.  Stevens’ Air Max 1-a-Days series had already given way to a small printing of hand-bound books but now he’s putting up the MAX100 book up on venture capital website KickStart to gauge interest for a larger run.  Click through to see a video rundown of this unique execution and let us know how this compares to the ever growing library of sneaker books.

The LeBrons Episode 7: Drake

They’ve both been in the public spotlight for much of their young lives, each currently among the luminary figures in their fields at a tender age.  LeBron James and Drake have even hosted a few parties together, so it’s safe to say they get along well enough to collaborate, and yet we’re thankful that King James hasn’t dropped any mp3s.  A far more natural way of getting these two working together on a project was to introduce Drake as himself on the latest episode of The LeBrons, where it takes a rap battle to settle things, and you can see the entire video when you click on the jump below.

Air Jordan XI IE Low White Black Detailed Images

How exactly is it that there’s a white and black pair of Air Jordan XI Lows that isn’t referred to as ‘Concord Lows’? That’s simply because the original AJXI Low that released in 1996 wasn’t the patent leather version (that actually premiered in 2001), but rather the Air Jordan 11 IE Low.  And this pair gets as close to the beloved Concord Elevens as the IE’s design will allow, a look so satisfying and significant to the series that we’re surprised it’s only being released here in 2011 (July, to be exact).  Click through to see a fresh round of close-ups and grab a pair early from RMKStore.
