Rafael Nadal vying for his sixth title in seven years is getting most of the attention at this year’s French Open, but let’s not forget that another all-time great is taking to the clay at Roland Garros this week as well. Sixteen-time Grand Slam winner Roger Federer will soon be slipping and sliding across the Parisian clay, and while we’ve already shown you his Lunar Vapor Tour 8 signature for this year, how about a look into 2012 at Federer’s next. The Nike Zoom Vapor 9 Tour eschews LunarLon cushioning in favor of a more traditional Zoom Air-equipped sole, Flywire supports also notably absent in next year’s model. Could this step back from cutting edge tech signal a decline in what has been a career for the ages, or rather a return to peak winning form? You’ll have to watch a bunch of tennis to find out, and be sure to stick with Sneaker News between now and then for updates on the Zoom Vapor Tour 9 release date. via CK.

Gourmet is a brand influenced by its founders’ Italian heritage and the country’s rich tradition of premium delicacies and fine tailoring. Their earlier models had names like il Uno and Quattro as if the lineup were numbered like a luxury car brand, so this one might leave you a bit confused. That’s because the Gourmet Quindici isn’t named after a number at all, but rather a town in southern Italy. But there’s no confusing the sleek quality on these seamless plimsolls, the black and grey pairs both offering subtle punctuation to a well thought-out wardrobe. That the above pictured pair has a roughly average neck-break quotient for the duration shows you how wild the Reebok x atmos collaborations have been over the years. But don’t mistake that for suggesting that the atmos x Reebok Tokyo Pack won’t garner it’s fair share of attention. This new set of Pump Omni Zone and Insta Pump Furys is united by a UV-looking purple, green, black and white colorway, and wouldn’t you know it, the splatter sections do indeed glow in the dark. If you could get your hands on a pair, they’d be quite sick as a Halloween sneaker with orange laces, but you’ll have to work your overseas connects because they’re hitting Japan’s atmos in July. via SM

The upcoming Nike Air Foamposite Pro in the electrifying Retro Blue and Black colorway does have some similarities to the Nike LeBron 8 ‘South Beach’ that released last year. The Foamposite has that bright blue upper, the black trim, and a translucent outsole (close enough to ‘Filament Green’ on the LeBron 8s), but it was still missing that ‘umph’, which is effortlessly provided in ample amounts by even the slightest hints of hot pink. So, without having to make any major structural changes to the shoe, we slapped on some hot pink laces to see if this easy ‘South Beach’ fix-up would translate as well as we thought it would – but you be the judge. To keep it true to the LeBron 8 styling, we chose the thick, flatter laces found on the Nike LeBron 8, and a quick 5-minute lace-swap produced an even snazzier pair of Foamposites that will likely lead to other sneakerheads spending the extra $3 for new laces. Check out the detailed images of this ‘South Beach’ Lace-Swap after the jump and head over to SneakerNews HD for a full gallery with crispy extra large pics. Sneaker News has seen a marked increase in sneaker-themed artworks produced over the past two-plus years, and while some of those have been on display at the world’s hottest art galleries and museums, relatively few permanent sneaker exhibitions exist. But with the opening of SneakerMuseum in Koln, Germany, Europe now has a space where you can go to see what would appear to be a regularly refreshed series of displays. First up is ‘The Dunk: Celebrating Colors & Creativity’, a look at the SB Dunk that proves that operators, TGWO, are on the right track with this project. Click through to see some more shots from the opening and let us know if you’ve had the privilege to visit SneakerMuseum. via Dunkbar

We just showed you the general release version of the Nike SB ‘Kobe x Koston’ Zoom Koston One; so what about the full-fledged hybrid? This LA-centric collabo-mashup brings together a black, purple and gold Zoom Kobe VI upper with the Koston 1 SB’s unique LunarLon and Zoom cushioned sole — and that might not even be the most ostentatious part of this ensemble! That billing may go to the locking wooden humidor box and Kobe x Koston golf ball set that sets these apart as one of the year’s truly deluxe releases. Click through to see more of the premium package that sold out at Nike Vault in Los Angeles on Friday and grab one of the few available from sellers like goat1218 on eBay.

Earlier today Sneaker News have you a look at the Nike Sportswear ‘Vac-Tech’ Pack, which featured four popular NSW designs redone with Vac-Tech uppers. The Air Max 1 wasn’t part of that group (yet), but here’s a look at some new colorways for the trail-blazer of the Air Max legacy, set for a release in the Fall 2011 season. You can expect some new materials, like the mesh toe-box that is currently the primary material on the Air Max 1 iD, a thicker canvas-like material used on the recent Air Max 1 ‘Honeycomb’ and ‘Brown Kelp’, and one in Black Leather, which features a funky graphic on the upper quarter panel. Check out all four upcoming releases below and stick with Sneaker News for more Nike Sportswear releases for the Fall 2011 season! via END.

White basketball shoes have been a summer necessity since the Air Force 1, but as new technologies develop, designers are able to add little twists here and there to keep things feeling fresh. Have a gander at this new Nike Hyperdunk 2010 Low in the immortal white and Metallic Silver combo. They have a bit more character than your average all-white lowtops thanks to an iridescent shine on the Flywire-reinforced TPU upper shell. This spectrum effect looks quite nice next to the metallic heel counter, more images of which you can see by clicking on the jump below. If you like what you see, grab a pair from a Nike Basketball retailer like Schuh-You.
