If you missed out on Sneaker News this week, chances are you’re very much behind. The world of sneakers is a round-the-clock news-feed, and Sneaker News does whatever it takes to keep you in the know. This week, Jordan Brand introduced its latest athlete in Maya Moore, who is also the brand’s first official female athlete. We were also given a nice look at three colorways of the Air Jordan 2011 Quick Fuse. Playboy magazine is also getting in on the sneaker fun, as we got a preview of Playboy’s 23 best Air Jordans of all time. Kobe Bryant is certainly following in MJ’s footsteps, and although another three-peat is out of the question, we did get a look at some new upcoming releases, one of which involved Nike SB – the Zoom Kobe VI x Zoom Koston One hybrid. The Lakers were left behind, but the remaining 4 teams continue to battle it out as we got a look at their Conference Finals kicks – the most notable being Kevin Durant’s Scoring Title PEs.
Sneaker News also filled you in on a ton of upcoming releases, like two new Air Max running models, the Fuse-uppered Hypershox, the Air Diamond Turf II, a re-mastered version of the Air Max2 CB ’94, and yet another Air Griffey hybrid shoe. In other brand news, the next Ronnie Fieg x Asics collaboration was put on the spotlight, as was Reebok’s upcoming Swizz Beatz and John Wall releases. The Black/Electric Green Foamposite One also released this week in Quickstrike fashion, as they were available in limited number exclusively at House of Hoops locations. Sneakerpedia was a fun-filled, sneaker-centric event, as the NYC Launch went down this past Tuesday night, with celebrities like Bun B and the ATF Crew in attendance. Other celebrities not directly known for their sneakers showed off their sneaker game as well, as SN Celebrity Feet regulars Jay-Z and Fabolous made some of their own news. And finally, we kicked off our second Buyer’s Guide, offering this week’s best new releases that might have slipped under the radar. Sneaker News Weekly Rewind is here to end the week right, so take a look below and be on top of your sneaker news game!

Will the Nike Griffey line dominate 2011? With the release of the Nike Air Griffey Max II, the super-hybrid Air Max JR, and the OG ‘Freshwater’ colorway of the Air Griffey Max 1, ‘The Kid’ has the Nike Retro game on lock. If you were a fan of the Air Griffey Max 1 (one of Nike’s most popular re-issues of the past decade), then consider the Air Griffey Max 1 ‘Freshwater’ a must-have. It’s got a black and freshwater teal upper with a black midsole and white ‘eyelids’ over the visible Max Air windows. These aren’t set for a release until August 2011, but avoid the wait and rock some neck-breakers early by copping a pair now from air-randyhk on eBay.

Many Nike Zoom Kobe fans have been calling this new colorway the ‘Bruce Lee’ of the Kobe VI. It does in fact share a similar color-blocking to last year’s Nike Zoom Kobe V ‘Bruce Lee’, so if these Kobe VIs were in fact a Bruce Lee version, where should the claw-mark graphic go? Kobe debuted this colorway of the Kobe VI during the 2011 NBA Playoffs, but unfortunately he and the Los Angeles Lakers could not put a fight as they were swept in four straight games. Although the Mamba’s season is over, the Kobe VI will still be a popular summer-time shoe, so cop these new releases tomorrow as they will officially hit Nike Basketball retailers, or snag a pair now on eBay.

After an initial postponement, the release of the Air Jordan 6-17-23 in the White/College Blue-Black colorway will go down tomorrow at Jordan Brand retailers nationwide. This release, using the Air Jordan XVII of the same colorway as its blueprint, may not cause major blips on the sneakerhead radar, but many of our readers seemed to have more positive things to say about the hybrid shoe given the great color-blocking. These have already popped up at retailers a bit early, but you’ll be sure to find them at all spots tomorrow, so take another look below and grab a pair now on eBay.

You can’t exactly forget about a model that’s been releasing in new colorways for nearly forty-five years, but it’s safe to say that 2011 has been a banner year for the Puma Clyde. This lowtop classic has popped up in a variety of premium getups this year including two collaborations with West Coast streetwear giants, Undefeated. Pictured above is the second of those two tag team efforts, the UNDFTD x Puma Clyde Canvas Collection. Four classically clean two-toned colorways will be hitting select retailers like Paris’ Black Rainbow starting Friday, June 10th and you can see more images of all four pairs when you click on the jump below.

Many of you may have learned of LeBron James’ insane $170,000+ bar tab that he incurred after the Heat advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals. That leads us to wonder what his next bill will be if the Heat manage to win this year’s NBA Finals. Better yet, how about an NBA Finals PE of the Nike LeBron 8? Nike surely has something up its sleeves in case LBJ wins a chip, but even if they don’t, at least we still have some great GR releases coming our way, like the LeBron 8 V/2 Low in Wolf Grey/Metallic Silver. In these new set of images, we get a nice look at the details of the shoe, which, admittedly, aren’t anything new (essentially the same as the V/2 Mid). Still worth a look, so take a look and let us know if you think LeBron will win his first NBA championship this year. via AGS.

In order for the Air Jordan Legacy to remain strong, Jordan Brand has the tough task of re-inventing its most storied Air Jordan designs without abandoning the essence of each model. In comes the Jordan CMFT Series, which adapts popular Air Jordan signatures with Nike Air Max running technology. The Jordan CMFT Air Max 10 takes on the Air Max 97-inspired full-length Max Air while utilizing a low-cut version of the Air Jordan X upper. This new tonal Varsity Royal colorway is similar to the three ‘Candy Pack’ releases that hit stores not long ago, but this ‘blue’ colorway is a nice pick-up if you’re a fan of the color. Eastbay just made these available so take a look at the new images below and grab a pair now on eBay.

Earlier today Sneaker News showed you an all-new colorway of the Air Jordan 2011 Quick Fuse in Black/Photo Blue. Adopting similar color-blocking patterns, here’s a look at yet another new Quick Fuse in Black/Varsity Red; a black upper with a patent leather toe-box is matched with a varsity red heel – also in patent leather – and a midsole/outsole combo of varsity red/white. The Quick Fuse is just one of the beginning examples of Jordan Brand footwear designs implementing Nike technology, so what else could be in the works? Check out the detailed images of this new colorway after the jump and stick with Sneaker News for more Air Jordan 2011 updates. via in52.

The Jordan Brand Quai 54 Basketball Tournament will go down in the near future, and last year’s release of the Air Jordan IX ‘Quai 54′ was enough indication that another Quai 54 Retro Jordan would hit this year. Last month Sneaker News showed you the Air Jordan V Quai 54, which features a White/Black-Metallic Silver-Radiant green colorway, and the hype surrounding the shoe grew immediately. We haven’t seen too many shots of the shoe, but recently Fabolous wore a fresh pair for a music video shoot, and now we get another on-foot image – an angle that many sneakerheads like to see before they consider a purchase. Check out the extra shot below and let us know if you think these would look sick on your feet! via air-randy.

Last time we saw a video featuring Complex‘s Joe La Puma, he was out on the town with Jim Jones in NYC, shopping for kicks at Flight Club. This latest clip hits a bit closer to home for Joe, as he invited Clyde from InsidetheSneakerBox to tour Complex’s New York offices and check out some selections from his personal in-house sneaker stash. The building was abuzz with talk of Tuesday’s Sneakerpedia Launch Party, but they still made time to take a walk-through to show off some kicks and talk with Complex sneaker editor Russ Bengston, who just so happened to have some rare OG and PE heat right there at his cubicle. (and on his feet!) Click through to see the video in its entirety and let us know what catches your eye.

If Johnny Cash or Elvis rocked Jordans today, these would be it (Blue Suede Shoes?). Here’s a look at an unreleased sample of an Air Jordan V Retro, featuring a tonal navy blue suede upper. This 2010 unreleased sample features light grey accents around the upper of the shoe and light blue on the Jumpman on the heel, the inner lining, and on the laces, and would’ve made a nice ‘Lifestyle’ release that would’ve fallen in the category of the Green Bean, Burgundy, and Olive colorways. At first, this colorway seems rather new to Jordan Brand, but keep in mind that this combo of colors can also be seen on the 2005 Retro release of the Air Jordan X, which featured a White/Obsidian-Ice Blue colorway as well. Continue reading for some extra shots as well as a video and let us know if you’d purchase these if they released. via yungdrseuss.
