Yet more Air Jordan 2.0 goodness this week as today we have our best look yet at the colorway revealed here on Sneaker News earlier this week. The AJ 2.0 demands attention in this black nubuck and textured leather getup, the red, green and white accents evoking images of the initial Air Jordan Spiz’ike colorway that hit retailers in early ’07. The AJII could be considered the first ‘bookend’ to the Spizike’s design elements, so it’s almost poetic to see this palette reproduced on an upgraded version. Click through to see some additional angles and if you’d like to grab a pair before they hit retail, consider contacting MarqueeSole.

On January 4th, 2000, a billionaire entrepreneur named Mark Cuban purchased the Dallas Mavericks, a struggling franchise entrenched in a blight of perennial losing seasons. With no light at the end of the tunnel,Cuban directed the Mavericks to the NBA Finals in just six years, the first in franchise history, earning a reputation as one of most supportive and dedicated owners in professional sports. At the same time, Cuban has not had a smooth relationship with the NBA front office, as he’s incurred more than $1.5 million in fines for incidents involving referees and league officials, with the most notable of Cuban’s outcries stemming from that 2006 Finals series – one that Tim Donaghy claimed was fixed in favor of Miami Heat.
Since that controversial series, Mark Cuban has wheeled and dealed and continued to spend while sticking his head in nearly every big-name free agent/trade discussion. Amidst criticism from so-called NBA experts and fans from around the league especially after losing to Golden State in the first round of the Playoffs in 2007, Cuban continued to trust and build around his superstar Dirk Nowitzki in an unflinching manner, and his devotion has clearly paid off the Mavericks easily defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder in five games and have earned a second trip to the NBA Finals. Two-time scoring champ Kevin Durant have been sent home early, but the future is as bright as ever for the Thunder, so expect them back in the 2012 Finals mix. A rematch of the 2006 NBA Finals looks to be in the books, so stay tuned to Sneaker News for more 2011 NBA Playoff updates as we approach the Finals! via Yahoo!.

What you see before your eyes is the Air Jordan V ‘Tokyo23′, quite possibly one of the sneakers to be given a coveted spot on Sneaker News’ Top 30 Sneakers of 2011. All attention was directed toward Japan due to the tragic natural disaster, and never before did a sneaker seem less important, but in a way, the launch of the Jordan Brand Tokyo23 website gave some added attention sorely needed by the people of the country – and perhaps that led to more donations and charitable funding. Nearly a month after the release and the Air Jordan V T23 is still a talked-about shoe, so if you’ve been looking for a pair and are willing to pony up the cash, RMKStore has a few sizes available, but you can also check for your size on eBay.

Blake Griffin’s star power is through the roof right at the moment, because you’ve probably seen the Clippers standout in plenty of television advertisements since his breakout 2010-11 season. Blake completely took over the 2011 NBA All-Star Weekend, winning the Dunk Contest, performing some sick dunks during the game, earning a spot on the Western All-Star squad, and debuting the Nike Hyperdunk 2011 during the game. While were’ eagerly anticipating the release of the next installation of the Hyperdunk 2011 legacy, here’s a look at it’s lower-cut brethren – the Nike Hyperdunk 2011 Low. The Nike Zoom Hyperdunk Low features a the same outsole construction, lightweight Flywire-stabilized upper shell, pronounced heel-cup, and pointed tongue. You can expect these eight team-based colorways for the Spring 2012 season, so check out all eight after the jump and let us know which of eight colorways you like best. via CK.

Last year’s Supreme x Nike SB ’94 earned its way onto the Sneaker News Top 30 of 2010 thanks in large part to the unprecedented use of Foamposite material on a skate shoe. Four different tonal colorways dropped last November, and apparently the one that most closely resembles the sneaker upon which its standout material debuted, was upended like their signature athlete’s career. Why didn’t this Orlando Magic-colored Nike SB ’94 make it to retail? Apparently creative disputes between Supreme and SB resulted in a chopping-the-baby-in-half situation, so the best we can do is hope a pair pops up sometime soon on the ‘bay and enjoy a closer look after the jump. via Colmilludo

It’s been quite a week for the Air Jordan 2.0 as the initial colorway was spotted on eBay in advance of next week’s official release date and a new edition was revealed in mens and kids sizes. Furthering the Max Air-cushioned momentum is this new kids-first preview of another Air Jordan 2.0 release we’ll see later this year, this pair offering a twist on the glut of grey sneakers we’ve seen in recent months thanks to the golden accents on the tongue and full-length Air bubble. Kobe may not have realized his dream of earning a second three-peat, but his legacy still remains strong, especially overseas. Nike will continue to release Nike Zoom Kobe takedown models in Asia because they’re just so dang popular! Here’s a look at another upcoming model of the Nike Zoom Kobe takedown line, likely one of bunch of Make Sense, Venomenon, and Dream Season releases that have been Asia Exclusives for some time. It features a similar midsole design as the Nike Zoom Kobe VII, with pronounced, jagged peaks, the outsole traction of the Zoom Kobe Venomenon, and a unique material/texture on the upper of each of the four upcoming colorways. We’ve got a closer look at all four after the jump so take a look and let us know what you think. via aaronknows.

The most notable Nike WMNS Tennis Classic release of 2011 was the Year of the Rabbit edition, but since those are well past gone, let’s take a look at an upcoming colorway. Has the fashion world come to a post-recession full-circle? We just saw Lil Wayne at courtside of Bulls/Heat Game 4 wearing the Nike SB Dunk Mid ‘Mama Bear’ along with a Billionaire Boys Club tee and camo cargo shorts, a look that at least on paper, could have just as easily popped up the last time LeBron James was playing in a conference finals series. It’s a reminder of a time when Ice Cream and Bape were among the hottest sneaker choices on the market, an era also evoked by this new BBC Nothings colorway. This model might be the least ‘nothing’ yet, eschewing the heretofore monochromatic colorways in favor of an earthy camouflage print that works nicely with a gum rubber sole. Click through to see more and grab these at select BBC retailers like Caliroots.

When news that both Brazil and France’s football governing bodies were both involved with Nike Sportswear collaborations this year, it would have been natural to assume some kind of mutual theme. But the French releases came and went with a couple of dope Dunk Highs and the CBF edition seemed to get caught up in the ever-expanding ‘True Colors’ collection, so while these two new pairs are a surprise, this in and of itself is something we’ve come to expect. Check out the Nike Air Pegasus ’83 and Elite classic runners done up in a French colorway with French Football Federation tongue tags. These joints cleverly walk a line between old school running aesthetics and the Tricolour and you can see more images of both when you click on the jump below. Leave a comment to let us know which is best and grab one or both of them today from AsphaltGold.

The Air Jordan XI ‘Cool Grey’ initially released in 2001, but did you know there was a different sample version of CG XI made a year before that? Here’s a look at a rare sales sample of the Air Jordan XI ‘Cool Grey’ that features a noticeable darker outsole tint. Don’t mistake the ‘smoked’ outsole as yellowing due to age, because the different color of the outsole was made intentionally to match to grey scheme on the upper – you can even see it in an old Eastbay catalog image (which we have for you below). Other differences between the 2000 ‘Smoked’ sample and the 2001 released version is that the inner lining features a smoother, silkier material with considerably more padding compared to the 2001 version. The tint on the outsole of the Air Jordan XI has been a significant topic of debate thanks to the blue tint seen on the 2010 release of the Cool Grey, but throw the ‘Smoked’ version in the mix and you have three different types up for discussion (make it four if you count the mesh-uppered sample). What do you think of the darker outsole? Check out the images below and let us know what you think. via yungdrseuss.
