Before some observers started referring to LeBron James as “the next (or a bigger) Magic Johnson”, the last successor to Earvin’s point forward throne was Anfernee ‘Penny’ Hardaway. At his peak, Penny was an All-NBA superstar with a signature sneaker line few could match, and he remains one of LeBron James’ heroes. So it was natural to see the Nike Air Max LeBron VII ‘Heroes Pack’ integrate a nod to Hardaway, though somewhat shocking that this perfectly executed takeoff didn’t release. Modeled after the Air Penny 1, this AML7 was slated to hit along with the also-nixed Deion Sanders and Michael Jordan-inspired pairs, but their absence means the US size 10.5 currently available from hyperstrike_718 earns some major points for scarcity. Click through to see some more angles and let us know if you’re gonna place a bid on this auction from hyperstrike_718 on eBay.

Jason Negron’s last custom project involved a ‘simple’ swap of the outsoles of his two Foamposite shoes. For his next endeavor, he dove in brush in hand on a pair of Air Griffey Max 1s to create his own personal take on the OG colorway of Ken Griffey Jr’s first signature shoe. In what could be called a ‘reverse’ of the soon-to-release Freshwater colorway, Jason applied the vibrant teal pigment on the primary upper panels, using black as an offsetting color on the upper and midsole. White laces match the ’24′ on the strap, swoosh (forefoot and heel), ‘NIKE’ insignia on the medial side of the strap, and on the ‘eyelids’ located above the visible Air windows on the midsole. Do you like these better than the OG colorway? Check out Jason Negron’s completed work after the jump and hit up his Facebook Page or through Packer Shoes to get in touch.

Nike iD recently upgraded its Air Max 95 palette by…allowing for original colorways to be produced. Although that may be counteractive to what Nike iD is intended for, the OG multi-grey color scheme is about as unbreakable as any other colorway can get – only now you can choose whatever secondary color you’d like to be splashed onto the visible Air, small swoosh, and lace hoops. Last year’s ‘Photo Blue’ Air Max 95 was a big hit because we’ve never seen a colorway like that since the OG, but now for the second straight year, Nike Sportswear is introducing one of the most popular Air Max 95 colorways ever created, only this time we get a slightly darker ‘Blue Spark’, which is a bit more closer to the OG. These aren’t set for a release until early-mid June, but you can grab them now from well-known e-tailer PickYourShoes or on eBay.

Soft suede does wonders for any sneaker, even for the Nike Air Force 1 Low that may be better recognized for its all-white leather uppers. This new release take a tonal motif of an earthy beige/khaki tone and utilizes contrasting materials – suede for the base an synthetic smooth leather on the swoosh and heel-tab – and pairs it with a chocolate brown outsole and -AIR- badge on the heel of the shoe. Another notable detail is the rarely seen nylon tongue, which provides an added touch of ‘vintage’. You’ll find these at Nike Sportswear retailers like BXSports now so check out the images after the jump and stay tuned to Sneaker News for more updates on upcoming suede-uppered Air Force 1 Low releases!

There won’t be another Finals MVP pack for the Nike Zoom Kobe VI, but given that Kobe Bryant’s disappearance from the NBA Playoffs was relatively sudden and unexpected, perhaps this latest release is an accurate thematic representation of how his season ended. The Nike Zoom Kobe VI will soon see a third camouflage colorway hit retailers, this tonal grey edition with vibrant blue and red accents. These are noticeably different than the sample pair we saw at the start of the month that featured red Flywire strands, the retail edition’s ‘hidden’ look coming across much cleaner. You can see proof of that fact when you click on the jump below and if you have the urge to conceal these in your sneaker closet even before they hit retail, check out Kicks-Lab.

In what is to be a busy month for Jordan Brand, June features the Air Jordan III ‘True Blue’, the trio of Air Jordan 2011′s and the Air Jordan VII ‘Cardinal’ which follow the long awaited ‘Bordeaux’ and ‘YOTR’ VII’s. The last time the Air Jordan VII ‘Cardinal’ retroed was in 2006 and with the 2011 scheduled to drop in a few weeks there aren’t any real differences, if any at all, between the two. The latest retro of the ‘Cardinal’ VII is sure to be a hit with its release date, which coincides with high-school graduation ceremonies, as you can’t have a graduation without getting a gift or two. Check out the additional images after the jump and be sure to hit up Wish ATL on release date for your pair, but to score your pair early head over right now to eBay.

Nike Sportswear’s ‘True Colors’ collection is similar to last year’s Air Attack Pack in its ever-growing breadth, but rather than follow a clearly defined theme, this one has developed organically. Interestingly enough, it all started back in January with the preview of a another ‘CBF’ Nike Air Max 90, an all-white edition that came onto the scene before we ever expected anything resembling a ‘White Pack’. About a month later, we spotted a black ostrich skin edition CBF AM90 hit retail, and only after that drop did the White Pack/True Colors collection start to take shape as we’ve seen it. So based on the black and obsidian offspring we’ve seen from that family tree, you might have expected to see another color if there was to be another Air Max 90 ‘CBF’, but as you can see above, this new revelation is another black pair, but with different materials than the aforementioned ostrich release. Click through to get a better look, let us know which CBF AM90 you like best and stick with Sneaker News for updates because NSW probably has even more up their sleeves. via Kixpress
