While many of the colorways from Ken Griffey Jr.’s Nike Sportswear retro releases are tied to his playing days with the Seattle Mariners (and Cincinnati Reds, to a lesser extent), many of the looks from his upcoming hybrid model are conspicuous by their non-compliance. Check out the latest Nike Air Max JR, a colorway that you’d expect to see on a pair of Jordans before Griffeys. Their black, white and Photo Blue getup is vaguely UNC leaning and reminiscent of the popular ‘True Blue’ Air Jordan III that just saw a retro drop, though the Torch-equipped and 360-degree Max Air-cushioned design will probably perform best as a cross trainer. Or just rock em in the streets; it’ll be your call once these hit US NSW retailers, and you can see more images when you click on the jump below. via LTD

Is Kid Cudi ‘ghostwriting’ sneaker designs these days? We’ve seen crazier things than The Man in the Moon designing a couple of ‘Day and Night’ two-packs, but in actuality it was Highs and Lows who did New Balance’s ‘Night and Day’ pack, and the crown brand themselves who came up with the Supra Society Mid ‘Summer Solstice Pack’. This set of night and day Society colorways delivers dark and bright blue takes, respectively, on Terry Kennedy’s secondary signature model. A 413-pair limited run will release with special hangtags on Saturday, June 18th and you can click on the jump below to see more images plus a list of retailers who will carry the Supra Summer Solstice Pack.

We just saw a Future Sole Melo M7 designed in celebration of Puerto Rican Day, but here’s another white, red and blue Jordan Brand release set to coincide with a similarly-themed summer holiday. The Air Jordan V Retro is a perfect sneaker to represent the July 4th holiday festivities, their patriotic, patent leather-based colorway as natural a fit for Independence Day as cookouts and fireworks. They’re undoubtedly one of the higher profile white sneakers that will hit stores this summer, but where do they rank in a 2011 that’s seen quite a few AJ5 designs? Click through for more images, let us know what you think of the white patent Air Jordan V and stick with Sneaker News for updates on their release. via Dunk

Sneaker News readers have been pining over the upcoming Nike Air Foamposite Pro colorway of Black/Dark Pine since we first brought you notice of a release in early January. If these were actually an original colorway, Ray Allen might have worn these when he was a Milwaukee Buck (before he was a Jordan Brand athlete), and you might remember Ray wearing the Pearl Foamposites in the movie ‘He Got Game’. In any case, consider these another $200 dent in your wallet when they drop, because these look to be the lone confirmed and previewed Foamposite release of the Fall 2011 season. We’ve got a new gallery of images awaiting you below so take a look and let us know if you already have plans to cop these, or get ahead of the game and cop a pair now at Kicks-lab or on eBay.

Alright, alright. The Mavericks are NBA Champs, LeBron is still sans ring, Chris Bosh cried a lot. Moving on, here’s a look at yet another unreleased sample of the Air Jordan VIII Low; it features a White/Bright Cactus-Metallic Silver colorway not seen on an Air Jordan before, although it can be compared to last summer’s Air Jordan IX GS release, which utilized a White/Lemon colorway with a Metallic Silver midsole. This Air Jordan VIII Sample, like that previous Ostrich-skin sample we showed you, was destined for a Spring 2008 release, but Nike decided to scrap those plans – likely due to the fact that the only other WMNS Air Jordan VIII Low was one Air Jordan release that many of us just decided to forget ever existed. Bright Cactus is seen on the funky midsole graffiti as well as other accents on the shoe, like the ‘ring’ on the Jumpman logo and the graphic on the outsole. Ostrich-skin is also used for this sample, seen on the outrigger/strap unit. Check out the detailed images below and let us know if you’d like for these to release! via Kenlu.
