Sneakerheads everywhere are no doubt excited for the 2011 Retro release of the Black/Cement Air Jordan III later this year, but rumors have been swirling for awhile that we may see the eagerly-awaited release altered from its original form in more ways than just a Jumpman replacing “Nike Air” on the heel. Word of a possible nubuck version has made its way around the web, but here we finally get a look at a sample featuring a black nubuck upper in place of the classic leather look. While it’s not clear whether or not this will be the production version that goes to retail, it’s safe to say that this kind of drastic modification will ruffle plenty of feathers in the sneaker world if released. You gotta be f*cking kidding me JB….NUBUCK on blk/cement 3s?!?!? That is the worst idea I've ever heard. This shoe was meant to be made with leather. If you screw this up JB, I guarantee the sales will not be 1/4 as good as the leather upper release. PLEASE do not put nubuck on this famous pair of Jays, KEEP THE LEATHER!!!! Damn this sucks

I'm hoping JB knows better than to release these shoes with nubuck instead of leather but on a better note releasing these with a nike air logo will def have Jordan heads moree than satisfiedd. I'll pass out if I ever see them release official photos of this years black cement 3's with a nike air logo on the heel tab!

no matter what materials they use they will sell, making these changes only alters real jordan enthusiasts opinions.
if they release these with nubuck they will still get bought up by people who don't know the difference, which is the majority of the population. which is unfortunate.

Well good thing these are just a sample. Cause if these released im sure they would still sell. But just not as much as they would if they were leather.
Im pretty sure JB won't change it to Nubuck since the white cement 3's were still the same. But even if they did somehow, someway, change the leather to Nubuck. I'd still buy em.

To say that i see ALOT of discontent with Idea the these might release in Nubuck V. Tumbled leather is an understatement to say the least. Personally I don't care. As much of a Purist as I am (only in the regard of buying OG color ways) I'm just happy the shoe will come out buy itself instead of with another shoe I don't want (a la CDP XX's) But if we examine the trend in Retros, we'll see that as of late, they haven't used real leather in a while. Look at the Cement 3's (I can't comment on the Tru Blues as I haven't received my Eastbay shipment yet). Those were OG to the core, with obvious exceptions, and the tumbled "leather" (a.k.a synthetic) on that was a horrible quality. While Nubuck won't crease as easy (although if it cracks it's over), The matte' finish coordinates better and it's easier to clean. Be grateful for the fact that they're even coming out. Has JB made some questionable decisions regarding Retros? Absolutely. But I hope they do release these in Nubuck. W/ all the hate, sounds like it'll be easy to scoop up the two pair I want….And now back to your regularly scheduled hating.

you act like the leather they were gonna put on the shoe would be high quality or would compare to the 2001 or '94 releases, its gonna be the same b.s. that's on all the current retros. Honestly at least the nubuck will last through a few wears without lookin like your little brother wore them to basketball practice. but I will just wait until I see the production model up close to be fully disappointed
