Air Jordan V White Midnight Navy Varsity Red

Saturday, July 2nd will be perhaps the single biggest day in the twenty-one year history of the Air Jordan V.  Michael Jordan’s signature sneakers from the 1989-90 season has been issued in a huge variety of colorways this year and joining the Quai 54 edition on store shelves this weekend will be the Air Jordan 5 in white patent leather with Midnight Navy and Varsity Red accents.  You really couldn’t ask for a better release from Jordan Brand during this three-day weekend celebrating our nation’s independence, and you’ll be able to find them in sizes from infant to mens in just a few days at JB retailers like Seattle’s RPS or go ahead and grab ‘em right now on eBay.

Sneakerness Zurich 2011 Event Recap

The Sneakerness event series has become something like the European equivalent of Sneaker Con, a kicks-centric gathering that started with the boom of the sneaker blogosphere and has progressed into a ‘Several x A Year’ deal with some of central Europe’s biggest cities playing host.  The latest such Euro-tropolis to stage Sneakerness was Zurich, where this weekend tons of shoe fanatics gathered to buy, sell and trade the hottest gear east of the Atlantic.  Click through to see a series of images from the event and stick with Sneaker News for recaps including an inside look at July’s Sneaker Con Miami.  via SF

Air Jordan IX Oregon Ducks Promo Sample | Available on eBay

This January was filled with hope for University of Oregon students and fans, but the month will probably be remembered for things just outside your reach more than anything.  The Ducks came up short in the BCS National Championship game against Cam Newton’s Auburn Tigers, and a significant buzz began with sneakerheads clamoring to find out more about the UO Air Jordan IX PEs.  These black nubuck Nines were given to the Ducks for their team media day and though they appear unlikely to ever see a retail release, a few are still circulating online, including a deadstock pair in US mens size 11 that just popped up from zach13g on eBay.

Packer Shoes x PRO Keds Backyard BBQ with BIZ Event Recap

Wherever legendary rapper/sneaker aficionado Biz Markie goes, good times seem to follow. This past Sunday, Biz was the guest of honor as Packer Shoes and PRO-Keds held an old-school barbecue block party to celebrate the launch of the Biz x PRO-Keds 69er collaboration. Between the in-store and outside crowd, there were plenty of folks on-hand at the Packer shop in Teaneck, New Jersey to enjoy the entertainment and polish off an impressive spread of food and some cold refreshments provided by Pabst Blue Ribbon. Thankfully, there were some non-alcoholic beverages there for the younger crowd as well, as the BBQ quickly turned into an event for the whole family with many of the attendees eagerly bringing their kids along to meet The Biz and pick up their 69er Lo‘s. By the time the Diabolical Biz got on the turntables, the party had officially hit full swing with a variety of notable names like Stash, Kid Capri, DJ Neil Armstrong and the Sugar Hill crew dropping by to get in on the fun. Keep reading after the jump for a look at some of the day’s highlights and look for more from the Packer/PRO-Keds/Biz Markie team-up coming soon.

Air Jordan XIV Light Graphite New Images

That you should take great care in doing so or perhaps avoid mixing black and navy blue together has been a rule of thumb in the fashion world for as long as anyone can remember.  But like all rules, it’s easy to get caught up in the letter of the law and forget the reason why it was established to start.  In the case of these two dark shades, it’s because in most indoor lighting, the colors can be so close as to suggest you tried to match them, but far enough apart that it’s clear you failed.  No such face-flop for Jordan Brand, though, as this new Air Jordan XIV proves that you can very successfully mix these two dark hues, and perhaps like the success of last holiday’s AJXI Retro release, it was the grey that made all the difference in this pair.  Click through to see more of how this neutral nubuck base serves to balance out a supremely bold colorway and check out the limited run available from Marquee Sole and/or an early pair currently available on eBay.

Converse to Use Flywire in Upcoming Releases

It’s safe to say that most of us look to Converse for old-school sneaker stylings rather than for up to date performance shoes, but the All-Star brand might be looking to change that in the near future. Some breaking info from the Nike 2011 Investor Update Meeting has Converse, a Nike subsidiary, applying the Flywire technology that has found its way on to so many recent Nike releases on a shoe of their own. Check the jump for an up close of the teasers released so far on this exciting project, and let us know in the comments how you feel about Converse taking their turn with the celebrated Flywire material. via CK

Nike WMNS Air Max 1 Light Blue White

Passionate sneakerheads can be spotted all over the internet venting on the (limited) availability of their chosen grails, but there’s another kind of hands-off hurting that dudes with bigger feet go through with Nike Sportswear.  It seems like most of the Nike WMNS Air Max 1 releases over the past few years have been just as good if not better than the mens, this latest model a shining example of why you’ll occasionally hear dudes talking about sizing up by 1.5.  With that math, anyone with a mens 10.5 or lower will be able to enjoy this steel blue beauty of an AM1, and you’ll find them now at select NSW retailers like Woei.

Nike Zoom Hyperfuse 2011 Russell Westbrook PE | New Images

Yesterday we hit you with a preview of the killer lineup of Nike Zoom Hyperfuse 2011 PE’s that we will see tearing up the league in the pending NBA season. We’re back again with a detailed look at Oklahoma City baller Russell Westbrook’s pair from the collection, an electrifying blue and orange colorway to go with his Thunder uniform. The two tone set up works really well with the Nike Zoom Hyperfuse 2011 and this super bright color combo is certainly one of the flashiest from the group of new PE’s. Hit the jump for detailed photos of the Russell Westbrook Nike Zoom Hyperfuse 2011 PE and let us know how they compare to the rest of the bunch. via US10

The LeBrons: Episode 10 The Comeback (Part 2)

Much like the NBA year that just ended so unsatisfyingly for his Miami Heat, LeBron James’ online animated series has reached its conclusion for this season.  The tenth episode of ‘The LeBrons’ is entitled ‘The Comeback (Part 2)’, and if we were to tell you that LL Cool J’s classic ‘Mama Said Knock You Out’ plays over the closing credits, you could probably figure out what will happen.  But just like the NBA, there’s a good reason why we actually play the games, and you can see the entirety of what could possibly end up as the last episode of The LeBrons when you click on the jump below.
