After several years of having been banished to the shadows surrounding New Balance’s retro running releases, the 998 returned this year with its OG colorway hitting retailers in spring. The reception was warm, but as the weather turns to cold, it’ll be interesting to see how these upcoming New Balance 998 colorways are received. On one hand, they’re not as rarefied as the OG M998GNR, and there are several other 900-series models poised to make a push in late 2011, but you simply cannot go wrong with a model like this one in a tonal suede and mesh design.
