When you consider all the classic silhouettes Vans has offered over the years, models like the Sk8-Hi, Authentic and Era come to mind. These original silhouettes could be evenly divided into hightops and lows, but in the ’80s, skaters were testing the limits wherever they could and found that mids often rode the best. So when Steve Caballero noticed that this trend had culminated in kids chopping his Off the Wall signature off right at the ankle, he discussed the design for a new model with Vans. The Vans Half Cab was born, and twenty years later we’re celebrating this score with a series of classic colorways along with a 20-pair run of hand-cut and hand-taped ‘Half’ Cabs scissored by Caballero himself.
