It’s fairly common for Nike Running to issue models like last year’s Tailwinds to stand alongside the Air Max flagship series, and in recent years with the implementation of synthetics like Flywire and Hyperfuse, we’ve seen casually-oriented leather editions, but 2011 marks the first time in quite a while that a new series was created to keep pace with the Maxes. Check out the Nike Air Max Alpha 2011, a model whose Hyperfuse upper and massive heel airbag will draw comparisons to the Air Max 2011, but one whose lines are distinct not only when compared to the 2011s, but nearly every other running shoe Nike has produced to this point. Click through to get acclimated to the new design then grab a pair from select retailers like New York’s Extra Butter.

Imagine you’re a young artist staring at an empty canvas. It happens to the best of us from time to time, either too much to say at once or a mind as blank as the surface will leave you in search of inspiration. Chicago-based street artist Kristoffer Mac aka Koca Monarchy walked his Stash Air Force 1s over to a museum where the tortured quest continued in vein until he found an unexpected treasure sitting on a bench in pristine condition. From the Air Jordan VIII ‘Aqua’ he ‘found’ Kris created his latest piece, a close-up of the Eight’s unmistakable midsole streaking along with a re-branded ankle strap, and you can see the video of how it came to be when you click on the jump below.

The recent Tier Zero release of the Stussy x Nike Sky Force ’88 pack has hopefully brought this old school model back to the public eye, and Nike is continuing the retro treatment with another triple threat release of the Nike Sky Force ’88. All three of the sneakers from this drop feature the VNTG treatment, which manifests mostly in the aged markings on the otherwise clean white soles. Fortunately, if you’re not a fan of the faux-yellowing, plenty of clever sneakerheads have found ways to clean them up. Continue reading for a full look at each of the shoes from this set of Nike Sky Force ’88 Mids, and let us know in the comments which ones you’ll be picking up. via Dunk

Not long ago, a certain sneaker retailer in Asia came up on a size run of Air Jordan IVs (from the 2008 Collezione Package) which featured a ‘PROMO’ designation on the inner tag. Typically these Promo samples are often reserved for certain occasions, perhaps for a display or even a gift to notable individuals or to the media. Now, another Asian sneaker retailer has their hands on the Promo version of the Black/Red Air Jordan IV (widely considered to be one of the best CDP releases from the entire series). Are there more of these floating around, or are sellers, who may have had these sitting in a stock-room, unloading these now in anticipation of a likely 2012 Retro release of the Black/Red Air Jordan IV? In any case, it’s always a good day when more Bred IVs make their way into the public, so keep your eyes out for these popping up, and let us know where the Black/Red Air Jordan IV ranked among your favorite CDP releases. via Rstor

This month marked the first anniversary of the strapless Nike SB Dunk Mid, and looking back on the year, is any other Swoosh Skateboarding nearly as underrated? The Dunk Mid SB has given us an impressive ratio of bangers over the past twelve months plus, including standouts like the Bill Jordan-designed camouflage joints from last fall, this spring’s Brickhouse red bangers and joining the fray in August is this new pair in a simple mix of black and white suede and leather. It’s such a clean combo that atop a gumsole, you’re reminded of some indeterminate classic look, though a quick peek at the recently updated traction pattern will confirm that this is indeed sometime after January 2011. Click through to see some new angles and look for this black/white/gum Dunk Mid SB at Nike SB retailers like Flatspot as part of the August ’11 collection.

Kobe Bryant disappeared from the NBA Playoffs much sooner than expected this year, robbing the world of a Lakers vs. Heat Finals matchup but perhaps reinforcing Nike Basketball’s wise decision not to revisit the MVPuppets campaign. The exact reason why you wouldn’t want to count your eggs before they hatch is that it’s entirely possible a snake will come along, camouflaged from view, and snatch one right out from under you. And though their colorway is probably the most neutral and wardrobe friendly of the series, the latest camo Nike Zoom Kobe VI will only blend into the most select settings thanks to the tonal grey upper. It’s also the most Lakers-leaning of the camo releases, a Concord Swoosh and sockliner suggesting some intrepid young Laker fan might try a set of yellow laces to finish the look. Click through to see more angles and pick up a pair from select retailers including NikeStore or on eBay.

Start with a base of cheetah milk (’bout half a gallon, from the looks of it), add a couple falcon quills, a 1/18 scale Lamborghini Murcielago for color and finish with a ninja star, a semi-automatic round, a copy of Olympic gold medal sprinter Allyson Felix, a stopwatch like the ones she regularly pushed and one gold-plated lightning bolt, then press blend Fuse. Wait a second; what the heck are we actually making here?! Well, you might not be able to replicate the same kind of recipe but apparently that combination enters the Nike Innovation Kitchen separately but leaves as the new Nike Zoom Hyperfuse 2011. This new video offers a playful look at how the Hyperfuse 2011 came to be, the entirety of which you can see when you click on the jump below. Let us know how it compares to some of the Swoosh’s legendary ads and stick with Sneaker News for all of the Hyperfuse 2011 release dates.

In a year dominated by Air Jordan III and V and VII releases, there stands a single Air Jordan XIV Retro posed to release soon. The Light Graphite XIVs feature the same perforated columns as other notable Fourteens like the ‘Last Shots’, and while the same is true of the above pictured pair, their material blocking and colorway is much closer to the former than the latter. The Air Jordan 14 is pictured above in a Chambray blue suede getup that adds a black sole and sockliner for a cool yet high-contrast look. They’re something like an ‘Un-’ take on the University Blue-accented joints that hit retail in early 2006, the inclusion of a 2005-dated tongue tag and the existence of a white/Chambray sample (that we’ll show you shortly) suggesting that instead of the Uni Blues, we might have been looking at a Chambray Pack hitting retail in the same month as the original Defining Moments Package. Click through to see more of the Chambray suede Air Jordan XIV and to purchase this rare size 9 sample, check with poofyo101jumpmansneakers on eBay.

Jeremy Scott is known for messing around with tongues, lace accessories and pretty much anything else he feels like, but his latest adidas Originals by Originals design stands out just as much for its subtle quirkiness. The new Jeremy Scott x adidas Originals JS SLM Bowling resurrects a slim (SLM — go figure) lowtop silhouette that only the most astute Three Stripes historian would recognize, their pointy-toed soles perhaps more familiar thanks to a Stan Smith-like traction pattern. Scott created a classic All-American look you might expect to find at the local AMF with red lateral and blue medial sides giving way to cream tongues and gum rubber outsoles. The tongue in cheek heel ’8′ sums up the tone of this trip back in time quite nicely, and you can see these and more details when you click the jump below. Let us know how these stack up against J.Scott’s more audacious designs and look for these at adidas Originals retailers like Atlanta’s Wish on Saturday, July 30th.

Now that we’re knee deep in the Hyperfuse revolution, Nike Sportswear is extending the lightweight technology to a wide variety of models to make sure no sneaker is left behind. That means the ladies are getting the chance to suit with models like the above pictured WMNS Air Max 90 Hyperfuse in the monochrome ‘High Voltage’ colorway. This super bright sneaker makes sense for a ladies colorway, especially now that we are in the heart of summer where the pastel sneaks get the OK. Continue reading for more photos of this WMNS Air Max 90 Hyperfuse, which you can purchase right now from Kicks-Crew.
