This offseason hasn’t been spent in his customary celebration -slash- superhuman training regimen, but Kobe Bryant has found his ways to stay in the public eye. The Black Mamba contributed design elements from his revolutionary Nike Basketball signature to Eric Koston’s first Nike SB model, he trashed former sponsors adidas and their adiZero Crazy Light sneaker, and he just wrapped up a Korean tour to further expand the ever-growing Asian basketball market. So while the season has ended, Kobe’s still hard at work, the kind of no-nonsense approach echoed by the Nike Zoom Kobe VI ‘Blackout’. This model would be a perfect one-size-fits-all ‘away’ shoe with its Dark Grey-on-black construction, and you can find them available at NikeStore.

Sneakers News gave you a firsthand look at the Reebok ‘Reethym of Light’ event, which featured celebrity collaborator Swizz Beatz and the new Kamikaze 2011. However, the Swizz Beatz x Reebok partnership isn’t a one-shoe deal; in May, we should you samples of a lifestyle-inspired high-top shoe which featured studded appliques on the two mid-foot straps as well as on the upper, which some of our readers called a ‘poor man’s Louboutin sneaker‘. Based on the positive response to the shoe, that comment was more of a compliment than a criticism, and as we get a look at this new grey colorway of the upcoming Swizz Beatz x Reebok shoe (still unnamed), it’s evident that Reebok and Swizz has some impressive tricks up their sleeves. Check out the extra image of this upcoming release after the jump and let us know if you’d consider rocking these! via Colmilludo.

Basketball has thrived in popularity in Asia – for players and spectators alike. The growing partnership between Asian countries and American-born players has led Nike and Jordan Brand to send its marquee athletes on ‘tours’, as ambassadors for both the Nike brand and for the sport of basketball, and this July 27th, Jordan Brand has a special treat for its fans in Hong Kong as the Jordan Brand Flight Tour will feature its three best representatives – Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony, and Chris Paul – in a star-studded festival. The three signature Jordan Brand athletes will sport Jordan Brand Flight Tour PEs, which are inspired by traditional Chinese opera masks. The Jordan Fly Wade, Jordan Melo M7 Advance, and Jordan CP3.IV are each presented in unique colorways that represent the individual strengths of the three players. Matching t-shirts have also been fashioned, with each respective mask and a unique description of ‘Air’, ‘Explosive’, and ‘Quick’. A release of these special Flight Tour PEs hasn’t been confirmed, but check out the images of the three shoes below and stick with Sneaker News for more updates as they develop. via weibo/JordanBrandHK.

Penny Hardaway made Sneaker News recently when images of his Nike Air Force 1 exclusive surfaced in June, but it’s Penny’s Nike Sportswear retros that keep him relevant for a generation of fans who never saw the man drop a single dime. The Nike Air Penny III comes back out of left field with an updated take on its unique design, the black Foamposite plus Varsity Royal nubuck is kind of like a mid/late ’90s time capsule, but the use of ripstop nylon on the ankle collar and the sheer novelty of this striking new colorblocking scheme makes these feel totally fresh. Click through to see more angles and look for the Penny 3 LE at House of Hoops starting Saturday, July 23rd.

Michael Jordan made some interesting comments last year regarding the apparent collusion among LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh, who ‘secretly’ agreed to form a super-star team when the three ’03 Draft Class superstars became free agents during the 2010 offseason. Michael’s exact words: “There’s no way, with hindsight, I would’ve ever called up Larry, called up Magic and said, ‘Hey, look, let’s get together and play on one team’”. They did, however, play together once (some Olympic team in 1992), but it appears that the Holy Trinity of legends will converge once again as the three will appear on alternate covers for the NBA 2K12 video game franchise. After the astounding success of NBA 2K11 (the competition didn’t even bother), repeating MJ as the coverboy would be a shrewd idea, and adding the two other legends (as well as other bonus covers for those who pre-order the game) would give other fans even more incentive to buy the game this October 4th considering the current state of the NBA lockout. Check out all three covers for the upcoming NBA 2K12 (as well as MJ’s Air Jordan XIII ‘Bred’) after the jump and let us know which of the three you like best.

The ‘Miami Nights’ edition is sufficiently visually impressive that it recently left the usually loquacious SneakGeekz in a multi-wow’d state of shock, but that’s not the only way to make a dope Nike LeBron V/2 Low. In fact, you could take every single color off the shoe and it’d still be a dope design, as evidenced by the new ‘Blackout’ LeBron V2 Low. This triple black colorway is one of the ones we can expect to see on nearly every Nike LeBron signature release and these live up to the legacy laid before them, details like the tongue lion insignia exemplifying the deceptively rich array of dark tones in play. Click through to see more angles and grab a pair today from Nike Basketball retailers like Finish Line.

The last two models to hit NIKEiD were the Dunk High Hyperfuse and Air Max 1 Hyperfuse, but don’t forget that the original version of the latter is also getting a breath of fresh air for the fall season. Check out this run of Nike Air Max 1 iD samples, a group so solid we’d be happy to see several of them hit retail. The updated range of colors and materials ensures you can express a variety of options while still allowing a strong chance for something as good as Nike Sportswear’s own designs. Click through to see all these sample pairs, let us know which ones you like and if you think you can do better, head over to NIKEiD to make your own today.

Most of the released colorways of Eric Koston’s Nike SB Zoom Koston 1 have been fairly simple (tip-toe-ing on ‘plain’). It’s nice to finally see one with a bit more pizzazz and eye-catching appeal, like this new August 2011 release in Paradise Aqua and Blue Slate. We can expect all of the Koston 1 colorways to be basic due to the easy-going two-toned nature, but throw on something tropical like Paradise Aqua and you’ve got yourself a refreshed take on this high-performance Lunar-cushioned skate shoe. Flatspot has them in early so look out for these at your local Nike SB account soon.

Swizz Beatz was just on stage to usher in the Reebok Lite collection, but his own choices of RBK collaborations come from nearly two decades before their eventual release. The latest Swizz Beatz x Reebok Kamikaze utilizes a color scheme not all to dissimilar from the Chicago-style bred joints that just dropped, but the use of a black snakeskin and disco ball-like scored chrome sections make these look something closer to Dennis Rodman’s personal style than Michael Jordan. Click through to see more of the appropriately named ‘Black Magic’ Kamikaze III and stick with Sneaker News for updates on these and all Reebok x Swizz Beatz release dates.

Records are meant to be broken, and apparently the theme of shattering limits extends to sneaker releases. Perhaps never before has it been more poetic to see a sneaker with a super-limited drop make its way to wider retail availability as with the Ray Allen Air Jordan XIII PE. This green and white Thirteen is the same as the ones Sugar Ray was wearing when he broke the NBA’s all-time three-pointers record, adding yet another chip to Jordan’s side of the scale versus Reggie Miller. These Jordan 13s were expected only in Boston with the 1 anniversary of Miami’s SoleFly also commanding a small run, but Finish Line has just tweeted that they’ll have the Ray Allen Air Jordan 13s “online only at some point.” Well, at least they were specific about the not needing to line up part. Click through for more details with Sneaker News for the exact Air Jordan XIII ‘Ray Allen’ release date.
