GRAPE 5's, CLAAAASSSSIC… Need to release those PRONTO.. dont sleep on those ultra force lows too

  19. SoleGlow Says:

When Nike still cared about putting out quality shoes…I feel for all the kids nowadays who have to put up with all Nike's cost cutting measures and never had the joy of lacing up a quality product. Pretty much all synthetic materials on their shoes now.

  20. slow joe Says:

    125 bucks and great materials
now its 160 bucks and terrible fit and materials
nike is a shell of its form self

  21. jm9312 Says:

    1990>>>>>> 1987

  22. matthew Says:

look at how the tongue on the 5's were nice and taller than those of today.

  23. jason Says:

man,i wish i could time travel, save some money and buys some of the kicks here and wear them today

  24. thedeuceIzloose Says:

Yessssssir these were the good old days back then the J’s on my feet cost like $75 and the quality was way better then today. Todays young generation don’t relize that there where other kicks then J’s folks were copping.

  25. Hec Says:

Ahhh the good old days. I was 6 in 90 watching ninja turtles lol. The prices and quality(sheds a tear) I hope the grapes don't retro no time soon. Sorry I just took my pair out for the 1st time the other day and it felt great! I just need a pair of those fire reds :(

  26. retrotek Says:

Next time Mark Parker talks about innovative footwear just show him this.

  27. imo Says:

correction "nike" catalog. nike isn't basketball, its helping destroy the game

  28. Wayne Brooks Says:

I had those black Jordan 5s and the black/white Air Solo Flights. These sneakers were sooo damn beautiful back in the days. Those Air Force Fives should be retroed man.

  29. Big_Infinite Says:

    real talk my dude

  30. slow joe Says:

make a time machine and ill pay to rent it to get a couple pairs

  31. justinp Says:

surely $125 would have been considered expensive back in 1990?can anyone else shed some light on inflation etc? agreed though that the quality would have been way better than today. all these shoes would have been performance driven in their design and construction. great catalogue and i would def buy one of each model in some colorway.

  32. Lol Says:

I like that fool on page 3 going up for a dunk….

"White Mike….if I could be White Mike…..I wanna be I wanna be White Mike"

  33. just saying Says:

no offense to no one but back in those days jays were made for people to play ball in so the quality was much better granted people back then wore them for fashion and thats when nike change it cause no one really goes to ball in retros now example lebron has always had good quailty shoes like the 8s v1 were great because they want u to play ball in them so please stop about quailty buy the shoes or not

  34. Hec Says:

I'm going to storage to get my metallic v after looking thru this

  35. Shoe Pheene Says:

    No a young Sean Elliot

  36. mmmbbb Says:

has anyone here ever heard of inflation? $125 in 1990 is worth WAY more than $165 in 2011, hence the Vs have gotten LESS expensive. $125 in 1991 dollars is the same as $215.88 in 2011 dollars. do some research before you type.

  37. Miles Says:

Can't wait to get my Fives this weekend

  38. jjj Says:

why wasnt i alive at that time period :'(

  39. Dave-O Says:

Man, flashback! I had the all white Air Flights. I still have the grapes even tho they are all crumbled. And I had the white/ fire reds. I still have the AJ V tear away pants in black and grape, I didn't see em in the catalog, When I get home Im gonna post a wdywt wearing my metallic V's with my OG tear away pants I just mentioned. Be on the look out.

  40. GT Smitty Says:

Now that was when sneakers were SNEAKERS! Well made, functional, good looking, and most importantly… inexpensive. But hey, it's 1990. A gallon of gas was still less than a dollar then.

  41. Keith AKA Mr.Polo Says:

    I KNOW RIGHT…

  42. 1981 Says:

It's time to take out that old Ahmad cd and bump that Back In The Day.

  43. Big_Infinite Says:

a young dwight howard in da face lol

  44. NBA Says:

ikr. i wish i culd pay 125 for grapes and black metallics

  45. junior Says:

The only way nike will ever use quality materials again is every single sneakerhead stops buying their product. Once they start losing millions of dollars we demand good quality for such a high price that would be a dream come true

  46. lil p.r Says:

#MAN THATS FUCKED UPP! how you ganna bee selling them back then for 125$ with 10times better materials!! and everything! then years later instead of upgrading the materials u make crappy ass material shoes and raise the price?!? how does that work!?!? lmao!

  47. ffrand Says:

I used to have this catalog, I nearly wore it out looking at it so much. I loved getting these in the mail and looking at them as a kid. It's a shame shoes suck so badly now.

  48. Jack Dan Says:

Damn, I feel like I'm 13 again. Would give good single Barrel of Jack D for These AF 5 or these Ultra Forces!

  49. @SneakGeek Says:

    Nah, it's not tho.

  50. EazyC Says:

Look how the 5s were only 125 compared to those of today.

  51. Lance Woods Says:

    agreed

  52. Lance Woods Says:

thats what I say but people just look at me like im crazy, stop buyin these bs retros, and JB will get the hint

  53. Lance Woods Says:

bro you had me at ninja turtles, so chill

  54. Lance Woods Says:

yes that may be the case, but the cost/shoe for nike was higher because the materials were better and their places of production asked more for their work now every thing is BS cardboard "leather" which cost pennies compared to the actual leather that was once used, so with that said even at 125 in 90 you were gettin a hell of a lot more for your money than 155-160 in 2011

  55. Jerronimo Says:

Wow… flashback! Nike denim? I bet peeps would still wear those now that 90's fashion is in style…again.

  56. thchustle Says:

check out the jeans on pg3 thats for sure givin me flashbacks of the 90's

  57. Bklyn_og Says:

I had the Flight 90s. Difference between now and then is that back then Nike still used pretty decent materials in their shoes. There is absolutely NO comparison between today's retros and the originals.

Nike cuts costs to make more money. Cheaper labor, cheaper materials, higher prices. And it controls the majority of blogs like this to make you all think the product is worth your money.

  58. Jay_Porter Says:

Looking at those V's just brings back memories of Will Smith wearing and dancing in the on the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air . Nostalgia .

  59. donadamsky Says:

    RIP durabuck :(

  60. reggie Says:

man i had those grapes and the metallic 5s when i was kid
that track suit is so beyond fresh
damn those were the best times ever
