Nike Air Max Griffey Fury Black Action Green White

Earlier today Sneaker News showed you the ‘Freshwater’ colorway of the Nike Air Max Griffey Fury. The Air Max Griffey Fury is just the latest installment in the Nike Griffey rejuvenation in the 21st Century, combining the Nike Air Diamond Fury with a 360 Max-Air cushioning unit. The upper is redone entirely in lightweight Hyperfuse material, and the heel features the Griffey Swingman logo instead of the original ‘Nike Air’ from the original. However, the ‘JR’ badge on the tongue as well as the Nike baseball logo on the heel-tab gladly make a return. Check out more images of the Black/Action Green-White colorway after the jump and let us know what you think of the newest Griffey hybrid. via taobao.

Kobe Bryants Greatest Sneaker Moments

If Kobe Bryant’s career was translated onto screenplays and feature films, the first four installments would be dubbed Kobe Bryant: The Second Coming, Fallen Hero, Road To Redemption, and Rise To The Top. Kobe Bryant began his NBA career representing adidas when the German brand landed the high-school phenom with a massive six-year contract. When his contract was over, Nike picked him up rather swiftly, until they hit a road-bump with the sexual assault scandal in Denver. Kobe was kept under wraps for some time, rocking Nike and Air Jordan PEs, but it was finally time to unveil the Nike Zoom Kobe signature line with the Air Zoom Kobe 1. From ’96 to ’11, we’ve seen Kobe through his ups and downs, and in this great feature mustered up by list-friendly Complex, we can revisit Kobe Bryant’s best sneaker moments of his basketball career. Was it his first ring with Shaq? Or how about when he teabagged Dwight Howard with a sack of kryptonite in the Huarache 2k4? Check out some of Kobe best moments below and head to Complex for the full feature.

Air Jordan 8.0 White Grey Blue

Each of Jordan Brand’s signature models got ‘Advanced’ this summer, Chris Paul’s CP3 Advance the only one of the three that didn’t feature a Flywire upgrade.  Carmelo Anthony’s M7 Advance and the AJ2011 A-Flight both added the superlight, superstrong material to their uppers, and are now joined by a model that debuted some eighteen years ago.  The Air Jordan 8.0 takes the criss-crossed strap design to a new level with Flywire beneath, and apparently the change was so radical, it altered the AJVIII’s signature streaking midsole graphics.  These are reported to be an October drop by Villa, although we had originally expected the 8.0 to be a 2012 release. Click through to see more of this white, grey and blue Air Jordan 8.0 and stay tuned for clarification on the release info.

Nike Air Max Griffey Fury Freshwater

Since the return of the Nike Air Griffey Max 1 in early 2009, we’ve seen a variety of Ken Griffey Jr.’s signature kicks retroed by Nike Sportswear, but none has stood out above the AGM1 in terms of significance or number.  That probably won’t change with the release of the above pictured model, though you could pretty easily argue that without the 1995-born silhouette upon which it’s based, the Air Griffey Max may have never existed.  The Nike Air Max Griffey Fury pairs a full-length Max Air cushion with the lines of the Air Diamond Fury courtesy of Hyperfuse construction and an overlay whose matte finish comes off a bit like Foamposite.  Click through to see more of the Freshwater Air Max Griffey Fury and stick with Sneaker News for the US release date.  via Taobao

Air Jordan 1 Phat GS Black Spark Blue Crystal

More than any other single model in the Air Jordan Legacy, the Air Jordan 1 gets pinked-and-shrinked into girls colorways.  The latest is a curious combination of details, an AJ1 in small sizes that blends black nubuck and patent leather as the base for a variety of exuberant accent shades.  The patent sections add to this color depth with their opalescent sheen, the kind of radiant appeal that carries over to the green-ticked black laces.  Click through to see some more angles, let us know how these compare to the ‘Diamond Swoosh’ AJ1 and some of the other more prominent GS drops of late and pick these up today from FinishLine.

Nike LeBron 8 PS Finals Release Date

You know what would be absolutely shocking?  If someone were clever enough to see this shoe and leave a comment about LeBron James choking during the most recent NBA Finals.  For those of you who’ve been reading Sneaker News this summer, those sentiments are clearly in jest, as this Nike LeBron 8 P.S. NBA Finals PE has perhaps more than any single colorway from LeBron’s eighth signature line, opened the flood gates for all kinds of hate-filled feedback.  And yet, the design of the shoe is downright impeccable, which resulted in an immediate sellout when these popped up unexpectedly as what looked like at the time an Asian exclusive release.  But just as that drop widened what had at one point appeared to be a nixed championship celebration, these will now see even wider availability with the Friday, September 2nd release on NikeStore.  Click through to get a better view, let us know if you plan to grab a pair, and if you can’t wait the ten or so days, go ahead and grab yours right now on eBay.

Todd Bratrud x SPoT x Nike SB Dunk High Cigar

Though it might not be as obvious a connection as the mere 225 miles from Miami to Havana, Tampa, Florida does indeed have a well-established cigar scene.  The city has quite a few smoking bars and even cigar factories, so when Skatepark of Tampa wanted to follow up on 2008′s Dunk Mid SB ‘Moat’, they called upon a guy who clearly knows a thing or two about exhaling grey vapors.  Todd Bratrud was the artist behind the ‘Skunk’ and ‘Cheech and Chong’ Dunk High SBs (among several others), and his latest collaboration is on the SPoT x Nike SB Dunk High ‘Cigar’.  This Quickstrike release for September features some of the nicest suede and nubuck we’ve seen on a SB Dunk, the earthy shades descending into a black/grey mid/outsole that represents ashes.  The side panel on these tears away to reveal a tobacco-like texture just like the Cheech release from earlier this year; does the special packaging make this one even better?  Click through to see more angles, let us know if you plan to grab a pair of these and stick with Sneaker News for the Skatepark of Tampa Dunk High SB ‘Cigar’ release date.  via N-SB

Nike Air Force 1 Brasil É Possível

Jean Baptiste Salaun sounds like a French name or something close, but did the guy responsible for the latest Bespokes we’ve seen here on Sneaker News also contribute to a new Brazilian-exclusive Nike Air Force 1 Low?  The connections are certainly there with timing and color scheme, but the above pictured AF1 Lows were in fact a Nike Sportswear creation, set to release at retailers in South America’s largest country starting Tuesday, September 6th.  Click through to see the incredibly intricate character embossing on this buttery soft black leather pair of Uptowns and stick with Sneaker News for word on a possible US release.  via SneakersBR

Reebok CL Leather Ultralite Blue Grey

The Reebok Classic is a sneaker whose name truly speaks for itself. While it may have fallen by the wayside during the advent of the Reebok Pump, this sneaker was a huge deal back in the day, especially for our friends across the pond. Here we see the Reebok CL Leather Ultralite, an updated take on one of Reebok’s finest that sends the signature slashes on the side of the shoe to the background, covered instead with a lightweight rip-stop material. The blue and grey get up on these has it looking a bit like a Stash colorway, and it’s possible that the in-house teem over at Reebok got a bit of inspiration from their recent Stash collabo. Continue reading for a full look at this Reebok CL Leather Ultralite and stay tuned with Sneaker News for release info. via SolePatrol
