July brought us the navy blues and now for August, UNDFTD has thrown a white party and the Converse Star Player and Academy are invited.  The second set from the Undefeated x Converse Ballistic capsule, these pristine classics offer two radically different approaches to all-white sneakers.  The Star Player hightop is almos entirely ballistic nylon, just the tongue and ankle collar done in a tonal tumbled leather.  The choice of black, white or orange laces carries over to the tumbled leather Academy lowtop that features a ballistic accent on the eyestay.  Click through to see more angles plus the matching ALICE pack and pick up a pair from the UNDFTD chapter stores tomorrow, August 19th.

Earlier this week Sneaker News showed you two brand new colorways of the Nike Zoom Kobe VI – one of which was the ‘Lakers Gradient’. The upper features a uniquely blocked color gradient that travels primarily from medial to lateral rather than anterior to posterior, using the two signature Los Angeles Lakers colors as the base. As you can see, the yellow is painted rather coarsely adnd only inbetween the TPU scales rather than over them, creating a strange double-layered format of color-blocking. Other fine details include the translucent white outsole, which matches the white midsole, swoosh and heel-counter. Should the 2011 NBA Season begin on schedule, you can certainly expect the Black Mamba to don these for the earlier part of the 82-game campaign. The Nike Hyperdunk debuted in summer 2008 as the first basketball shoe to utilize Flywire and Lunar foam, and we’ve seen both applied to almost everything imaginable in the intervening three years.  Lunarlite shifted to LunarLon and that lightweight cushioning has been popping up in everything from running to skateboarding sneakers this year and now we have the first Nike Basketball release with a full-length LunarLon sole.  No Flywire here, but take a gander at the Nike Lunar Hypergamer, a combination of Hyperfuse and LunarLon that’s gotta be among the lightest basketball shoes on the market.  Click through to see more of this black and Treasure Blue colorway, let us know what you think of the new Lunar Hypergamer and stick with Sneaker News for the US release dates.  via sevens

LeBron James wearing the new Ambassador IV during his tour of China makes perfect sense given the series’ Asia-exclusive status, so this sighting is doubly surprising.  King James was spotted in a never before seen player exclusive colorway of the Nike LeBron Soldier V, a mix of black plus pearlized red on the Flywire sections.  It’s interesting to see LeBron back in the Soldier because with the advent of the P.S. revision, his former playoff line had been all but left behind by the King himself.  Click through to see more angles, let us know how these compare to other LeBron James Soldier V colorways we saw this year and let us know what you think.  via HK-kicks

The adidas adiZero Crazy Light is marketed as the lightest basketball shoe on the market at 9.8 ounces and will certainly see a lot of action during the upcoming college basketball season. The latest editions of the adiZero Crazy Light come in team colorways, and  we can expect adidas sponsored schools like Tennessee, Notre Dame, Texas A&M, Seton Hall and Wisconsin to wear them during the year. The wait is almost over, with the 2011 version of the Air Jordan V Retro in Black/Metallic Silver finally hitting shelves this Saturday. This has been a classic colorway since it made its debut on MJ’s feet back in 1990, with each subsequent release getting snapped up pretty quickly. The 2011 version stands out from the previous iterations with the blue tint found on the icy sole, a technique we’ve seen quit a bit from Jordan Brand in recent years that is supposedly helpful in slowing down the dreaded yellowing process. We’ve shown you these many times and considering that they are an OG colorway, they might sell out fast, so look out for these at Jordan Brand retailers like Extra Butter this Saturday or cop a pair now on eBay.
