The Nike Air Royal Mid occupies a bit of a strange space in the Nike Sportswear range. Not quite commanding the attention of its brothers the Dunk and the Air Force 1, this sneaker has nonetheless quietly been hitting with some of the more solid designs we’ve seen from the boys in Beaverton as of late. This updated version, titled the Nike Air Royaltna Mid, is redone with a beefed up outsole and some tough materials for the upper. The smooth dark leathers are complemented with boot-style laces and eyelets, resulting in a very rugged look. Hit the jump for some more angles of this Quickstrike release, which is available now at Mr. R Sports.

The world’s greatest minds in footwear design seem to gather at Beaverton, OR quite often. This past week, the finalists for the Future Sole 2011 Design Contest convened at the famed Nike campus, where the remaining few unveiled their designs for the specific assignments laid out by the Future Sole Program. The assignments included: a new NY-inspired Jordan Melo footwear design, a Jordan Melo t-shirt, a signature Converse shoe for J.J. Barea, and a Nike Basketball sneaker for a power forward. The highlight of the event was, without a doubt, the Jordan Melo M8 design finalists, submitted by Nick Daiber of Highland, IL and Jacob Rochester of Bloomfield, CT; the judges themselves were stumped, as they could not declare one individual design the clear winner, so Carmelo Anthony himself laid down the iron fist and had to make the ultimate selection, which was Nick Daiber’s Blue/Orange rendition. Check out the finalists below and let us know which Jordan Melo M8 Future Sole design you like best!

With all the Lakers colorways floating around out there, you’d think that Californians would be satisfied given the variety of choices available to rep their state. Well if not here’s another one for our readers on the West Coast, a White/Red/Green colorway of the Nike Hyperfuse 2011 Low that isn’t explicitly linked to the Golden State via any sort of special release, but the colors are too close to be a coincidence. Nike is getting behind this next level sneaker as the future of basketball footwear, and we believe it given the high-tech design specs on the Nike Zoom Hyperfuse 2011 Low. Continue reading for an in depth look at this Cali colorway which you can cop right now at Eastbay.

This is somewhat of a “late arrival” for Wale, who has made quite a name for himself in the sneaker culture. The DC-born rapper built up quite a reputation over the years, especially for having the hottest sneakers way in advance, but even if the shoe hasn’t released in the states yet, we certainly expected him to rock the LeBron 8 Miami Nights sooner. Continuing his mini-tour as part of the Heineken Red Star Access presents Roc Nation event, Wale performed live in Chicago while wearing the aforementioned sneakers, matching it with a Michael Jackson t-shirt (in commemorations of the K.O. Pop’s birthday). Check out Wale in the Miami Nights below!

The latest in a long line of sport-styled lifestyle sneakers drawing upon aesthetic cues from the Air Jordan Legacy, the Jordan TC midtop has just arrived at retailers in a new colorway. This model, like many before it, utilizes a midsole based on the immortal Air Jordan III, though this new design can be seen to feature significant alterations when compared to the original. There’s also a bit of AJXIII in the form of an encircled ankle Jumpman and a flowing nylon mesh panel on the sides, and it goes without saying that any Bred colorup reminds sneakerheads of Michael Jordan’s dominant Chicago Bulls playing days. Click through to get a closer look and pick up your Jordan TCs from Eastbay.

Sneaker News just scooped you on a ‘Stealth Pack’ of CMFT Viz Air 11s from Jordan Brand, but could there be more than just those three colorways in store? Yes and no, as the ‘other’ Stealth set of which we speak isn’t the Viz 11, but rather an Air Jordan III Retro and its Slide counterpart. The ‘Stealth’ AJIII has indeed flown under the radar during a 2011 that has been the best year for Air Jordan III Retros ever, and now’s the time to ready yourself for the release. Both the Air Jordan 3 and the sandal based on its immortal design will drop this Saturday, September 3rd, and you can skip the rush and get your Stealth Threes right now on eBay.

It’s hard to imagine today’s one-and-done ‘college’ basketball players having much loyalty to their schools (unless you enroll, dominate and win an NCAA crown like Carmelo Anthony). If a guy like Kyrie Irving becomes an elite superstar with his own signature line, surely we’d see a Duke colorway, but since Irving only played a handful of games in Durham, even near-Blue Devil Kobe Bryant could be seen to be just as connected to the school. Kobe skipped college to go straight to the pros, so instead of the various Duke colorways accompanying Kobe homecomings, we look to the annual Lower Merion High School Aces PE to rep for the Mamba’s alma mater. This new Nike Zoom Kobe VI is slated to hit US retailers on Saturday, September 10th, and they’re already shipping from Hong Kong’s RMK.

‘Metallic Pewter’ Foamposite Ones? Sick. Air Force 1 Foamposites? Dope; every colorway a quick sell-out. AF1s with Vac-Tech construction? Equally impressive if not with the same technical edge. Can you see from this progression how much of a can’t-miss the above pictured model is? A model that can be seen as the culmination of a few different threads from the recent history of Nike Sportswear, theNike Air Force 1 High VT looks pretty dang amazing in this pewter colorway. The level of detail they achieve from the molded leather uppers is pretty much what you’d expect were the shoe literally cast in the malleable metal for which it’s named; is the colorway even better than the Foam Ones? Click through to get a better look and expect these at NSW retailers soon. via SF

There’s a general consensus that the Air Jordan Legacy peaked in MJ’s early years and that the series hasn’t been quite the same since Michael Jordan swished the ‘Lasth Shot’, but does a similar common sense exist for running kicks? European sneakerheads have long professed a love of ‘trainers’ even beyond basketball kicks (as might be the opposite of the stateside sneakerhead population), and Complex has finally set out to determine the all-time best. As per the usual, the list has its fair share of safe picks, cult favorites and some you may have never seen before, but did they get the ordering right? Click through to see a sampling of what’s in store then head over to Complex for the list in its entirety.

When Dave White took on the Air Jordan 1 for a special charity auction edition of the shoe this past February, only 23 pairs were up for grabs, leaving many would-be bidders out of luck. Now that Dave has teamed up with Jordan Brand for a second Air Jordan 1 go-around, it’s looking like these might be a bit more attainable, although we are still awaiting official release info before we can get too excited. The good news is that at least for now, we get an incredible extensive look at all of the finer details of the shoe, along with its packaging and hang tag. Opinions still seem to be mixed on the shoe, but that won’t stop these from disappearing with the quickness when they’re made available. Keep reading for a deep gallery of detailed images and stay tuned for some release specifics coming soon. via Kenlu

We’ve seen P-Rod’s line at Nike SB call upon classic Dunk releases for inspiration time and time again. This release of the Nike SB P-Rod 2.5 is a step in the other direction, with no immediate colorway coming to mind when you take a look at these black/grey sneakers. We hit you with an some early catalog scans of these a while back, and this final version stays true to the no-nonsense mixture of blacks and greys. This pair is a ways down the pipeline, scheduled for Spring 2012, but we’ve got some more detailed pics after the jump to tide you over until then. via NSB

More than a few sneakerheads refer to their Nike Air Force 1s as ‘Uptowns’, a term that originated in the sneaker capital of the world, New York City. Here’s a new pair of AF1 Lows that’s sure to be beloved by NY heads, their colorway borrowed from a baseball team that’s been banging around as far ‘up’ as you can get in NYC. This Yankees-style colorway is enhanced by the textural contrast between the glossy patent leather toe and perforated leather on the rear while tonal laces, dubraes and nylon tongues take it a bit further. Green and black pairs in a similar style will also soon be available, and you can grab the Obsidian patent toed AF1 Lows right now from Nike Sportswear retailers like Extra Butter or on eBay.
