Update: TODAY IS THE LAST DAY TO BID!
The race for the Nike Mag has officially begun, as the first wave of this charity-driven sneaker release just became available at 11:30 PM EST. Since it’s sudden introduction late last night, Sneaker News has kept you on top of all the Nike Mag 2011 release information and updates, but the only thing that hasn’t been set in stone is the actual price. That’s because in an auction, an item with a selling price directly proportional to the demand, so prepare yourself to shell out at somewhere in the four-figures as some pairs have eclipsed $75,000. The Nike Mag 2011 release will not only bring out hardcore sneakerheads, but movie buffs, 80′s babies, and Marty McFly geeks, so expect quite a battle because the field of opponents is a lot bigger than your typical eBay sneaker auction. Google co-founder Sergey Brin and wife Anne Wojcicki generously donated a 50 million dollar match grant to the Michael J. Fox Foundation, through the match grant, the foundation can potentially receive up to 100 million dollars to fight Parkinson’s Disease. No. To preserve the value of what people will spend for these shoes and the money that will — and hopefully, again, that’ll be as much as we can get for each shoe, so the amount of money to charity is the most we can come up with — In order to preserve that, we’re not going to re-release this shoe and we’re not going to commercialize it any further. What you will see, though, probably sometime in the future is that there will be some– this shoe has already helped inspire some unique design features on some new shoes and we are committed to designing shoes in the future that do come alive and do sense your body and do certain things, so this is a precursor to the future of probably all athletic shoes we design. -Marcus Troy

Remember this Michael J. Foxs' charity, he said last night that their the second biggest funder of Parkinson's (only behind the federal government). alright i was just being funny with the wrong number, but i just checked the auction and took the number i seen most for each pair, which is $5000, so i multiply that by 1509 and got $75,45000 then i added 75,000 for the one sneaker that was at that price and got $76,200. so nike is makin over $76,2000 over the 10 day spree

Those aren't 'bots'. r***m and e***a is eBay's method of making bidders anonymous. Bidder usernames aren't five units long and don't have *** in the middle.
Again, many sneakerheads underestimated the excitement behind this shoe. The older heads knew that these were almost a lost cause. The younger heads got madly excited. Some kid on Niketalk said "no way any of these are going above $2,000".
It's for a great cause and remember, Nike donated these FIRST to the MichaelJFox.org foundation and THEN they were put up for auction. Either way, the money's being spent by people who not only have the money, but REALLY want the shoes and REALLY want to support a cause.
