The Nike Mag is finally here! 22 years after it was first featured in the 1989 film Back To The Future II, the self-lacing Nike Mag will finally become an attainable piece of footwear history, with 1,500 pairs going up for auction (150 pairs per day). The first wave of auctions will start on September 8th at 11:30PM EST/8:30 PM PST and end on September 18th in what will be one of the greatest eBay charity auction events ever undertaken. What do you think the average price for each pair will be? Continue reading for these official images of the 2011 Nike Mag and let us know what you think, and be sure to hit up www.nikemag.ebay.com to place your bid starting tonight.
The NIKE MAG is no longer the “greatest shoe never made.” The mythical shoe that originally captured the imagination of audiences in Back to the Future II is being released – and they’re here to help create a future without Parkinson’s disease.
1500 pairs of the 2011 NIKE MAG will be auctioned on eBay with all net proceeds going directly to The Michael J. Fox Foundation. Each day for the duration of the ten-day auction, one hundred and fifty pairs of the 2011 NIKE MAG shoes will be made available via eBay’s Fashion Vault. The auction starts September 8, 8:30PM PST, and will end September 18. Thanks to a previous 50 million dollar match given to the Michael J. Fox Foundation, all donations will be matched, effectively doubling the contributions from the auction.
The original NIKE MAG was worn by the Back to the Future character Marty McFly, played by Michael J. Fox, in the year 2015. It came alive, lit up and formed to Marty’s foot. The 2011 NIKE MAG shoe was designed to be a precise replica of the original from Back to the Future II. The aesthetic is an exact match, down to the contours of the upper, the glowing LED panel and the electroluminescent NIKE in the strap. The 2011 NIKE MAG illuminates with the pinch of the “ear” of the high top, glowing for five hours per charge.

the first pair sold for liek 37k or some crazy amount.. It would be on hell of an investment 20 years out if they don't do a public release
Its nice to see that all 1500 may be going in music and movie industry who can easily shell $100,000 for these :( Who do you guys imagine will be the first famous person trying to rock these?
Damn! I never knew there were so many sneakerheads with sooo much money! The nike mag says "f##k a down economy! None for me...:( wit my broke ass. Lol
I feel a bit better knowing that while I won't be able to cop, these don't have power-lacing. Which is kind of the whole point of the Mags. But I generally feel downtrodden as a mug seeing as ebay has reality-checked my broke ass. Like 2 mins in and I already couldn't play! $4000? Sheeeeeeeet I need to graduate to a higher pay grade, early...
I don't understand why they are showing all these pictures of Tinker designing this and drawing it out. The shoe has already been designed. How hard is it to take a shoe that's already made and make more of them? I thought the only reason they hadn't come out yet was because they were working to get the autolacing to work. If it isn't gonna have autolacing than what is the point? And why not release them years ago? And why is tinker wasting time drawing a shoe that already exists?
Man everybody stfu talking about "O Im going to pay $1000 for them, o no Im paying $3-$6000 for them" you hypebeast ass mf go to sleep
to all you idiots out there that feel these corny ass shoes i wish i could go back in MY time machine and slap all yal as soon as you came out your moms vagina cause these shoes are wack ass hell..........nike got yal buying anything and everything .......i mean these are fine and all for the movie but damn your telling me you think youll look fly walking the streets with your girls jeans tucked all in these joints lol...........straight up garbage
Just when you think you are to old to keep buying new sneakers they do it again...........I have to get those
I feel much dumber after reading all your responses. By the sounds of it, most of you need to invest the money you think you have for these into higher education.
i love how nike KNOWS we all want a pair yet its gonna be like 2K at the least just to get our hands on these....thanks hype beasts if you didnt cock ride this shoe so much nikes would have probably made it a general release
i remember goin to da theatre wit my brothers to go see da back to da future flicks & alwayz wanted to have a pair of these... now that they are releasin these over 20 yrs laters is really cool... but im allllllready knowin dat u are gonna spend a GOOD 4 figures to get yo hands on these.. even tho da money is goin to a good cause & they are real cool kicks, they aint THAT COOL
Lmao at the hypebeast not able to get them! It's for a good cause too which makes the reaction even more hilarious! I'm sure down the line they release a different version for the public though. For now the yezzy will have to do lol
realy!!!! lets make a shoe that people are going to crave over and have been hoping to release since they were seen in the movie, and only make 1500 pair and just auction off 150 per day so they can then resell for thousands of bucks....man SCREW NIKE right now!!!
people saying they wish they had a $1000 but that gonna be the lowest for these the allen 13 was at a 1000 and the hype and demand was nowhere near these
So every day all 150 auctions end or will the winners be announced on the last day?? Either way i will attempt to get a pair for so many reasons: childhood memories, the concept, and the outcome of what the money will give back to. I respect Fox for stepping up and being a spokesman for so many years.
I would not wear these ever. I would love to. But I'm afraid that I'll get jumped as soon as I step out my door.
economy isent good niggas hopefully will release to general wtf im pizzz i aint got no 1000 dollars just like that i know nike tryna raise money and shit but let the fans donw wtf
These are going to go for way more the 1g a pair. Esp common shoe sizes. I mean if Yeezy's are going for around 1,000 for resell. These will top that. Factor in the money from winning bids are for a good cause and the bids are going to be through the roof. People with no real interest in the shoes will bid solely as a donation towards the disease. And the small number of units produced for this run. Prices will be nuts just check the auctions within 5 mins. of them posting. It's going to be nuts.
maybe it because i havent seen a back to the future movie but i dont see the hype they look interesting but not good looking to me
Now is the only thing that gotta come out. MATTEL HOVERBOARD, and if you'll get this shoes you're all set for the 2015, lol
all the tweens and hypebeasts are complaining. I'm glad these aren't easily attainable, and not available at hoh or nike.com. Now the real by all means necessary sneakerheads can cop and not the i'm gonna camp for a week because i have no real job, and buy multiple pairs. I probably won't be able to afford them, but I'm glad I won't see no job losers flipping them on ebay. This is the fairest way to release them, so shut up and buy your air yeezys....
where's air-randy and marqueesole now?? goes to prove Nike CAN put out a shoe without leaking "grey market" versions early
I would sell off a bunch of other pairs in the collection for a pair of these any day of the week. Like someone else said. ICONIC. I think $2000 is a low estimate though. Hope I am wrong
:'( i thought i would be able to cop a pair, i guess i'll wait till 2015 its when i graduate anway for a decent quickstrike or a GR, shit sucks, wont be bidding but i'll definately watch the bidding to see how high it escalates. God i got my hopes up so much when I saw this last night hoping it would be somewhere in the realm of copping. @Trehound is on some real shit Nike shoulda definately droped this on nikestore.com for $250 or $300 like he said. Nike with another stupid move ugh. First the miami nights now these. Really getting heated with nike right now. So depressing
they have a good concept coming from the movie but no one can seriously disagree with me when i say these are fucking ugly
thousands of usd each pair..:( crap..... they could earn a lot more if they had mass production...........
I love that they are auctioning them for charity but if they don't automatically lace they are pointless. They should have kept working the technology until Oct 21, 2015 and then released them without the autolacing then if it still couldn't be done. There are countless other things they could have done to raise money for parkinsons.
