Glow-in-the-dark materials are obviously more for form and visual appeal than it is for function, but is the Nike Zoom Rookie even a performance shoe? It is indeed a derivative from basketball sneakers from the 1990’s, but that doesn’t mean the sum of those parts would equal the same when it comes to use. The Nike Air Penny line has been more of a streetwear signature line and the Nike Zoom Rookie LWP will likely follow suit, which may explain why something as superfluous (and equally awesome) as Glow-in-the-dark uppers would even make it onto the shoe. When not viewed in the dark, however, the solid pure white upper looks pretty darn amazing (perhaps what we expected last year’s Pearl Foams to look like). Check out these new images of the Luminous Pearl aka Glow-in-the-dark Zoom Rookies after the jump and let us know what you think. via MarqueeSole.
