Reebok, the official outfitter of the NFL, has created special colorways of its on-field gear (cleats, gloves) with patriotic red/white/blue detailing to pay tribute to those that perished and risked their lives during the 9/11 attacks. This Sunday, which is also the opening Sunday for the 2011 NFL Season, is the tenth Anniversary of the tragic event, which has heightened awareness and emotion in memory of the U.S. saddest events in history. Some NFL players like Lance Briggs and Chris Cooley have tweeted that they were informed about a monetary fine for wearing the commemorative 9/11 NFL Gear provided by Reebok, citing team uniform guidelines. The NFL also has its own plans of observing the milestone date, but players have voiced their discomfort with potentially being fined for what they deem is an honorable gesture, and some have defiantly welcomed the penalty as a worthy price to pay to show respect for those affected during the attacks. Do you think the NFL should stick to its guns, or is fining players for wearing 9/11 gear a bit excessive, regardless of league uniform guidelines?
