These days, Air Jordans are prized for their visual appeal and their performance aspects. But be reminded that the Air Jordan sneaker is first and foremost a performance sneaker, as Tinker Hatfield’s process in designing sneakers begins with creating a shoe around the human foot. Air Jordan comfort took an interesting turn when Zoom Air cushioning was first introduced to the Air Jordan legacy via the Air Jordan XII, and here we have a look at the two Air Jordans that bookend the Air Jordan XII and it’s full-length Zoom; the Air Jordan XI was supported by full-length Air embedded into the midsole, while the Air Jordan XIII utilized a combination of Zoom Air compartmentalized on the heel and forefoot – a set-up used on Hyperdunk 2011. So which type of cushioning bodes better for on-court performance? Well, Michael took the Bulls to 72 wins, won his fourth NBA title, and took home the MVP trifecta (All-Star, Finals, and League) while wearing the Air Jordan XI. In the air Jordan XIII, he also won a title and the trio of MVPs, scored more during the Playoffs, but won 10 fewer regular season games. A strong case can be made for either season, but check out the detailed juxtaposition of the Air Jordan XI and Air Jordan XIII soles below and let us know which season – ’95-’96 or ’97-’98 – was better! via hoopchina.

U guys are dorks, j's are not built for comfort or durability! at least not anymore! the prices are higher and the quality is garbage, fuckin DC's last longer! For a Nike or Jordan to be comfortable they gotta forget about the outsole, midsole, and inlay! its all about the insole! The most comfortable Jordan is the 18 with double zoom ait(look it up)! The most comfortable Nike is Lebron 8 with airmax 360 and that soft insole with the holes! Every other Nike looks nice yeah, but they feel like a fuckin brick! Foamposites feel like hard asphalt compare them to p-rod 1's or Lebron 8's or AJ 18's! U guys are so gullible u think they're comfortable cause Nike makes up cool names like Lunarlon and zoom! but its all about feel and they feel like baboon shet! :^{D

The main problem with the cushioning utilization in j's has never been the cushioning itself, but the inlay between the insole and the cusion, which in most Js, xi included, renders the cushioning useless. Also the 13 had in incredibly soft phylon for the midsole wich allowed you to feel the zoom air working. Kobes more or less gave the same set up, but the insole and inlay make the shoe solid. It's lightweight and responsive no doubt but the kobe vi's kill my old knees and maybe kobe should look at this as the reason he has knee problems. there's nothing out their with a tech profile to suit my game, iv went from having a 40 inch vertical to barely being able to get off the ground in about 2 months due to knee pain and being unable to find a suitable shoe to combat it. Id love to get into a nike lab and create something for balling in. mist Nike ball shie just aren't suitable for older players.13's were the best ball shoes for cushioning i ever played in, just a pity you can't play in retros anymore.

Hahaha no way, iv been wanting to see inside both if these since forever!, 13some are way mire comfortable you can feel the air under your feet. Cane speak for xi retros but the ogs were solid.

The retro 11's nowadays are the most uncomfortable Jordans you can wear and they all squeak due to all the damn air in there lol.

OG xi's are probably the most comfortable sneaker ever.. only bought my first pair of 13's the other day, they're great, but the xi's just trump em.

Paul Casey

Whats pointless about it? The point is that there isn't a well balanced performance shoe on the market. And there's nothing out there that considers the needs of older players. And my entire post is relevant to the question asked in the article. ill assume your just one of these folk who knows nothing about what your buying or why your buying it. accurate? You just wasted 2 minutes if your life being a tit.
