If you caught yesterday’s feature of Hawaii Mike’s 25 Favorite Sneakers (in his apartment), you would’ve laid your eyes on some of the rarest, most niche-friendly sneakers ever created. In the sneaker game diversity is always appreciated, but that isn’t saying that you can’t build a passion for sneakers by loving only the classics. Hip-hop artist J. Cole is one celebri-sneakerhead that we’ve been following for some time and you might’ve noticed by now that he doesn’t stray too far from tried and true favorites, like the Air Jordan XI ‘Bred’, Nike Air Foamposite One in Royal, and even the Reebok Question. Actually, during an interview with FMF, he didn't even know what numbered Jordans he had on his feet. He said something "you gotta ask Wale about that haha" or something. He appreciates kicks, but he's far from a sneakerhead in terms of knowledge/history. What was he wearing? The Air Jordan XI.

I don't understand why people get so defensive about celebrities. Nobody is knocking his sneakers or denying that he has 'heat'. But c'mon, dude didn't even know what the AJ3s were. The fact is, the extent of his sneaker knowledge comes from 'what's hot'. He doesn't care when they released, who designed them, why they're so significant. He buys them because they're what's "in". Those are his words. You can have your opinion - i'll settle with facts.

Chill out man, your entitled to your opinions. But no need to get all butthurt. I can feel what John was saying about how J Cole didn't know what was on his feet, and needed an explanation. I dont feel like John was trying to be a know it all about it. It's one thing to admire a sneaker, and that's good, but the difference is the knowledge of what you got in your stash is what makes you a true sneaker enthusiast. It's like being a gearhead. If you like a car, that's cool. But if you don't know the specs of it, then the car heads will look at you like you haven't did your homework. That's not trying to be all snobbish about it either though, that's just the way it goes. We were all clueless at one point. But knowledge is part of the game.
I made a mistake before - he didn't know what the Air Jordan III was, and he was wearing them on his feet at the time he said it. He even struggled with identifying the XIs. If you don't know what the Air Jordan III is, you're not a sneakerhead. Period. Buying and wearing whatever's hot (which is what he himself says he does) doesn't make you a sneakerhead, because it encompasses more than that. Not trying to convince anyone that he is or isn't a sneakerhead, but he himself implies that he isn't.
Reeboks, Iversons, who gives a ****.. there still hideous and i would never even think about letting them touch my feet. call me what you want but thats just my opinion. *KanyeShrug*

If you actually READ the story he says he isn't a real sneakerhead. He included a couple of shoes that he admits aren't the best, but they mean something to him. Anyway with that said the Bred XI's are the most beautiful Jordan's ever made, some might disagree, but I don't. Which is why I own 3 pairs. lol
