As the Nike Air Max 1 approaches its 25th anniversary next summer, here is a trio of Q2 releases that have 2012 looking like a good year for the first shoe ever with visible Air cushioning. Two of these pairs go with suede on the mudguard and heel plus a tonal tumbled nubuck side panel and white on the mesh and midsole, the Premium-level edition going for a blacked-out suede and nylon complimented by white on the Swoosh plus a Hazelnut midsole. The LIVESTRONG x Nike partnership continues for the Holiday 2011 Collection, as we get a look at the footwear capsule for men and women. For men, a darker, black/grey motif is front and center, paired with the signature LIVESTRONG yellow accent on the Nike LunarGlide+ 3, Nike Trainer 1.3, and Nike ACG Wildwood. For the women’s collection, a softer pale grey is used, with the LunarGlide+ 3, Zoom Vomero+ 6, and Nike Air Max Navigate being the featured sneakers on the LIVESTRONG platform. NBA Stars LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony, and Chris Paul participated in Nickelodeon’s Worldwide Day Of Play – a nationwide initiative to promote active, playful lifestyles in today’s young generation. The event, which took place at The Ellipse in Washington D.C., also featured a number of Nickelodeon’s biggest stars as well as First Lady Michelle Obama, who spoke to event-goers about the importance of fitness and health. All four NBA stars who attended the event were spotted with their respective Nike and Jordan Brand gear; LeBron wore the LeBron 8 V/2 Low ‘Sprite’, Wade rocked some CMFT Viz Air 11s, Chris Paul had on the Jordan Sky High Retro Low, and Melo rocked the Jordan 6-17-23. The Air Jordan Legacy was darn successful that Jordan Brand became an independent brand and rolled out it’s own line of footwear commonly referred to as ‘Jumpman’ or ‘Team Jordans’. There are some non-Air Jordan classics that have released over the years, and Complex magazine just compiled a list of what they deem the fifteen greatest Jumpman Jordans of all-time, and although you may not agree with their list, it’s a nice history lesson of Jordan Brand’s models of the past (like the popular Jordan Pro Strong and the recent Alpha Trunner). However, there are some other greats that were left off the list, like the Jordan Mossified, the Melo 5.5, the Jumpman Pure, Jumpman Trifecta, the XVI.5 – a ‘Greatest’ list could be much longer than 15. The Nike Mag 2011s were certainly a huge celebrity draw, and the sneakerheads in that category definitely put up the dollars to guarantee themselves their Nike Mags. Kid Cudi claimed to have won four (yes, four) pairs of the Nike Mag 2011, and he recently broke out pair numero uno at a party thrown by Complex and Bacardi, during which he was the guest of honor (he graced the cover of Complex’s The Music Issue). Nothing finite has been established for the fate of the 2011-12 NBA season, and with an October 3rd start to training camp still up in the air, NBA ballers have been keeping themselves busy in summer ProAm leagues. Truth is, NBA players have always been involved in the summer leagues – only now they’re getting a bit more attention considering the NBA newswire has been relatively dry. During last night’s game between Team Melo and Team Philly, dubbed the ‘I-95 Game’, LeBron James wore a new PE colorway of the Nike LeBron 8 P.S.; it featured a tonal aqua blue upper with a black midsole and an aqua blue Max Air unit and outsole. Slap on some pink laces and you’ve got yourself a bonafide ‘South Beach’ colorway that would quite honestly boost the moderate popularity of the LeBron 8 P.S. sneaker. Over the weekend, Sneaker News gave you a look at five upcoming Air Jordan 8.0 colorways – one in the OG ‘Playoffs’ theme and four in a team-based colorways. Here’s a look at a more festive colorways for Girls – a Black/Pink vision with yellow and blue accents on the paint splatter detail on the heel mudguard and on the outsole. No word on a solid release date for these just yet, but you can bet that these will be available in the coming months as part of the Jordan Brand Holiday 2011 Footwear collection. 2011 is the 23rd anniversary of the Air Jordan III. You think all we’ve seen up to this point – the 3 OGs, Black Flips, Black History Month, Stealth – is all we’re going to get? Here’s a teaser of two Air Jordan IIIs – one in a ‘khaki’ motif made up of khaki suede and a black/khaki elephant print and another ‘denim’ version with a navy suede and denim upper finished with gold contrast stitching. No word on a release of these sample Air Jordan IIIs just yet, but they certainly would add a level of stylish flavor to the Air Jordan III, would they not? All 1,500 pairs of the Nike Mag 2011 have begun to appear on door-steps, and just last week we showed you the ‘unboxing’ experience of the Mag 2011 as well as the instruction booklet that accompanied with the shoes. We’ve already shown you Kanye West and Brian Wilson wear their pairs outdoors, but pint-sized sneaker fiend Franalations had put a video of the Nike Mag 2011 on feet, just to give you a look at how they appear when worn out in public. Of course, the shoes will definitely turn heads with the ‘wow’ factor alone, but no matter how cool the shoe really looks, only Michael J. Fox can really pull them off.
